Safety instructions
Warning / Important
• The tool together with any attachments or accessories, must never be used
for anything other than the designed purpose.
• All locally legislated safety rules regarding installation, operation and main-
tenance shall be respected at all times.
• This product is only intended for industrial use and shall only be operated
indoor in dry rooms. This product must not be used in explosive atmos-
pheres.
• Only use power sockets.
• Keep hands, long hair and other objects away from the rotating socket.
• When using a suspension yoke, check that it is in good condition and cor-
rectly fastened.
• Be prepared of the reaction force which will occur when the tool is used.
• Make sure that the tool is in good working order and that the controller is
correctly programmed before use to avoid unexpected behaviour from the
tool which may result in operator injury.
• ETD / ETP nutrunners are used together with a torque reaction bar. Please
be aware of the rotational direction of the spindle before starting the tool,
the reaction force may work in an unexpected direction with risk of crush
injuries.
• Never put your hand near or close to the reaction bar while the tool is being
used.
• Check function of the earth fault protector and ground loop continuity on
regular basis according instructions in the drive/ controller ASL.
• Always keep the POWER FOCUS/drive unit locked.
• Refer installation and servicing to qualified personnel only.
• Do not attempt to disassemble your Serial Port Adapter. Doing so will void
warranty. The product does not contain customer servicable or replaceable
components. Service should only be performed by Atlas Copco Tools AB.
• Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when performing an opera-
tion where the fastener may contact hidden wiring. Fasteners contacting a
“live” wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and
could give the operator an electric shock.
Battery tool use and care
•Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A
charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of
fire when used with another battery pack.
•Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of
any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.
•When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects,
like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects,
that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the
battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.

•Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid
contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid con-
tacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the bat-
tery may cause irritation or burns.
• Disconnect battery pack from tool before making any adjustments, changing
accessories, or storing the tool.
• Handle battery packs correctly. Ensure that the outside surface of battery
pack or tool is clean and dry before plugging into charger. Do not dispose of
used battery packs in the general refuse or by burning them. Disposal ac-
cording to local regulations. Never break open battery packs and chargers
and store only in dry rooms. Keep dry at all times.
• Battery machines give freedom from cable or hose but have a limited
power- and energy capacity.
• For proper reference between product and instruction, note the Tool serial
numbers here:

Installation
Installation
For installation guidelines refer to POWER FOCUS manual (9836 3123 01).
The tool calibration torque is stored in non-volatile memory in the tool.
Any changes made to the tool calibration torque in the POWER FOCUS
will update the stored value in the tool.

Handling
Operating
As tightening torque increase the reaction force build up equally. Make sure
that the tool is in correct working order and that the controller is correctly pro-
grammed to avoid unexpected behaviour from the tool, which may result in op-
erator injury.
ETV/ETD: Check that the tool is in the correct running direction by turn-
ing the reverse ring,
• Clockwise = Tool forward.
• Anti clockwise = Tool reverse
ETP: Check that the tool is in the correct running direction by pushing the re-
vers switch.
The soft-start function facilitates entering the screw head and thread.
The duration of the soft start is adjustable, see the manual for the POWER FO-
CUS/ drive unit.
The tool is equipped with four LED´s for specific tasks:
• Connection LED: Indicates connection to Power Focus
• Battery LED: Indicates battery status (flashing light for low and fixed light
for empty battery)
• Batch LED: Indicated Batch done
• Alarm LED: A failure/event is detected
Preventing ESD problems
The components inside the tool and controller are sensitive to electrostatic dis-
charge. To avoid future malfunction, make sure that service and maintenance is
carried out in an ESD approved work environment. The figure below shows an
example of an appropriate service work station.

Maintenance
Lubrication
Planetary gears, needle bearings and ball bearings must be lubricated with soft
grease containing molybdenumdisulphide at the regular overhaul of the tool.
Take care to use specified quantity. Too little as well as too much will cause
problems.

Overhaul
Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical
replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is main-
tained.
Service must only be carried out by qualified personnel who have access to the
Service instruction and/or have been trained for service on Tensor STB Tools.
The electric motor is a sealed unit and may under no circumstances be opened
by anyone else than Atlas Copco Industrial Technique AB!
If it is judged that the electric motor is defect or in need of service, the complete
motor unit should be returned to Atlas Copco Tools for exchange.
Motors which have been opened by anyone else than Atlas Copco Tools will
not be serviced.
Overhaul and preventive maintenance is recommended at regular intervals once
per year or after maximum 250.000 tightening depending on which occurs
sooner. More frequent overhaul may be needed if the machine is used in heavy-
duty operations. If the machine not is working properly, it should immediately
be taken away for inspection.
When dismantling the tool always use the specially designed service tool 4080
0848 80, (two service tools are required).

Ergonomic guidelines
Consider your workstation as you read through this list of general ergonomic
guidelines and see if you can identify areas for improvement in posture, compo-
nent placement, or work environment.
• Take frequent breaks and change work positions frequently.
• Adapt the workstation area to your needs and the work task.
• Adjust for convenient reach range by determining where parts or tools
should be located to avoid static load.
• Use workstation equipment such as tables and chairs appropriate for the
work task.
• Avoid work positions above shoulder level or with static holding during as-
sembly operations.
• When working above shoulder level, reduce the load on the static mus-
cles by reducing the weight of the tool, using for example torque arms,
hose reels or weight balancers. You can also reduce the load on the static
muscles by holding the tool close to the body.
• Make sure to take frequent breaks.
• Avoid extreme arm or wrist postures, particularly for operations requir-
ing a degree of force.
• Adjust for convenient field of vision by minimizing movement of the eyes
and head during the work task.
• Use the appropriate lighting for the work task.
• Select the appropriate tool for the work task.
• Use ear protection equipment in noisy environments.
• Use high-quality inserted tools or consumables to minimize exposure to ex-
cessive levels of vibration.
• Minimize exposure to reaction forces.
• When cutting:
A cut-off wheel can get stuck if the wheel is either bent or if it is not
guided properly. Make sure to use the correct flanges for cut-off wheels
and avoid bending the wheel during cut-off operation.
• When drilling:
The drill might stall when the drill bit breaks through. Makes sure you
use support handles if the stall torque is too high. The safety standard
ISO11148 part 3 recommends using something to absorb the reaction
torque above 10 Nm for pistol grip tools and 4 Nm for straight tools.
• When using direct-driven screw or nutrunners:

Reaction forces depend on tool setting and joint characteristics. The abil-
ity to bear reaction forces depends on the operator’s strength and pos-
ture. Adapt the torque setting to the operator's strength and posture and
use a torque arm or reaction bar if the torque is too high.
• Use dust extraction system or mouth protection mask in dusty environments.

Parts without ordering number are not delivered separately for technical rea-
sons.
The use of other than genuine Atlas Copco replacement parts may result in de-
creased tool performance and increased maintenance and may, at the company
option, invalidate all warranties.
Warranty
Contact the Atlas Copco sales representative within your area to claim a prod-
uct. Warranty will only be approved if the product has been installed, operated,
lubricated and overhauled according to the Product Instructions.
Warranty will not be approved if it should be detected that the electric motor
has been opened.

Trouble-shooting
If the nutrunner does not start:
• Is the PowerFocus switched on and in RUN mode?
• Make sure that the fuses for the drive part is Ok.
• Make sure that the Drive parameters are correct by refering to the User
Guide of the POWER FOCUS/ drive unit.
• Check the earth fault circuit breaker on the back of the drive. Should it have
tripped, make sure to find the primary fault before resuming operation.
• Make sure that the wiring on the remote start connector is correct.
• Make sure that the battery is in good condition.
• Make sure that the radio connection is working.
If the tool becomes abnormally hot
The tool can handle any normal line jobs that an operator sustains with the
proper adjustments. Should the tool be overheated though, make sure that the
following parameters do not apply:
• torque above rated
• too low speed
• too long ramp time (motor has to give high torque for a long time)
• very high prevailing torque
• very soft joints
• short cycle time

This can be corrected by making sure that Over speed, Ramp time, and Tighten-
ing strategy is correctly set. One stage and Ergoramp are most heat conserving
when applicable. Please refer to the User Guide of your POWER FOCUS. If the
above corrections are not enough, choose a tool of the next higher capacity.

Attention / Important
• Cet outil ainsi que ses fixations et ses accessoires ne doivent jamais être uti-
lisés à d'autres fins que celles pour lesquelles ils ont été conçus.
• Toutes les réglementations locales de sécurité en matière d'installation, d'uti-
lisation et de maintenance doivent toujours être respectées.
• Ce produit est conçu pour être utilisé exclusivement en usine, à l'intérieur et
dans un endroit sec uniquement. Ne jamais utiliser ce produit dans une at-
mosphère explosive.
• Utiliser uniquement des douilles pour outillage électrique.
• Garder les mains, les cheveux longs ou tout autre objet à l'écart de la douille
en rotation.
• En cas d'utilisation d'un anneau de suspension, vérifier son état et s'assurer
qu'il est correctement fixé.
• Faire attention à la force de réaction engendrée lors du démarrage de l'outil.
• Avant d'utiliser l'outil, s'assurer qu'il est en parfait état de fonctionnement et
que le contrôleur est correctement programmé afin d'éviter tout comporte-
ment inattendu de l'outil qui risquerait de blesser l'opérateur.
• Les boulonneuses ETD / ETP étant utilisées avec un toc de réaction, vérifier
le sens de rotation de la broche avant de mettre l'outil en marche; la force
de réaction peut en effet entraîner l'outil dans une direction inattendue et
provoquer des blessures par écrasement.
• Ne jamais poser la main sur le toc de réaction ou à proximité de celui-ci
pendant l'utilisation de l'outil.
• Vérifier régulièrement le fonctionnement du dispositif de protection contre
les défauts de mise à la terre, ainsi que la continuité du circuit de masse,
conformément aux instructions de l'unité de commande et du contrôleur
ASL.
• Toujours garder l'unité de commande ou l'unité POWER FOCUS ver-
rouillées.
• Ne confier l'installation et l'entretien qu'à un personnel qualifié.
• Ne pas tenter de démonter l'adaptateur de port série. Ceci aurait pour effet
d'annuler la garantie. Le produit ne contient aucun composant réparable ou
remplaçable par le client. L'entretien ne doit être effectué que par Atlas Cop-
co Industrial Technique AB.
• Tenir l'outil électrique par ses surfaces de préhension isolées; en cours d'uti-
lisation, la fixation peut en effet toucher un câblage caché. Les fixations
touchant un fil sous tension peuvent mettre les parties métalliques nues
de l'outil électrique sous tension et pourraient électrocuter l'opérateur.
Utilisation des outils sur batterie et précautions à prendre
•Recharger exclusivement avec le chargeur préconisé par le fabricant.
Un chargeur qui convient à un type de bloc-batterie donné peut créer
un risque d'incendie s'il est utilisé avec un autre type de bloc-batterie.

•Utiliser les outils électriques uniquement avec les blocs-batteries spécifi-
quement prévus à cet effet. L'utilisation de tout autre bloc-batterie
peut créer un risque d'accidents corporels et d'incendie.
•Tenir les blocs-batteries non utilisés à distance des autres objets métal-
liques tels que les trombones, pièces de monnaie, clés, clous, vis ou
autres petits objets en métal susceptibles d'établir une connexion entre
les bornes. La mise en court-circuit des bornes de batterie peut provo-
quer des brûlures ou un incendie.
•En cas d'utilisation excessive, du liquide peut s'échapper de la batterie.
Éviter tout contact. En cas de contact accidentel, rincer à l'eau. En cas
de projection de liquide dans les yeux, demander également une aide
médicale. Le liquide qui s'échappe de la batterie peut provoquer irrita-
tion et brûlures.
• Déconnecter le bloc-batterie de l'outil avant de procéder à des réglages ou à
un changement d'accessoire et avant de ranger l'outil.
• Manipuler les blocs-batteries correctement. S'assurer que la surface exté-
rieure du bloc-batterie ainsi que l'outil sont propres et secs avant de les bran-
cher dans le chargeur. Ne pas jeter les blocs-batteries usagés à la poubelle ni
au feu. Respecter la réglementation locale en matière de recyclage. Ne ja-
mais essayer d'ouvrir les blocs-batteries ou les chargeurs et les remiser ex-
clusivement dans un endroit sec. Maintenir au sec en permanence.
• Les machines fonctionnant sur batterie permettent de ne pas dépendre d'un
câble ou d'un flexible mais ont une puissance et une autonomie limitées.

Ce symbole indique que certains composants du produit doivent être traités
conformément aux prescriptions de la directive DEEE. Ces composants portent
la mention DEEE dans la nomenclature des pièces de rechange, voir les Re-
marques.
Le produit dans son ensemble ou ses composants DEEE pourront être renvoyés
au Service clients pour traitement.

Installation
Installation
Pour les directives d'installation, reportez-vous au manuel du POWER FOCUS
(9836 3123 01).
Le couple d'étalonnage de l'outil est enregistré dans la mémoire non volatile
de l'outil. Tout changement effectué au couple d'étalonnage de l'outil dans
le POWER FOCUS actualisera la valeur enregistrée dans l'outil.

Administration
Utilisation
Lorsque le couple augmente, la force de réaction augmente également. Avant
d’utiliser l’outil, il faut s'assurer qu’il est en parfait état de fonctionnement et
que l’unité de commande est correctement programmée afin d’éviter tout com-
portement inattendu de l’outil qui risquerait de blesser l'opérateur.
ETV/ETD : Vérifiez que le sens de fonctionnement de l'outil est correct en
tournant la bague d'inversion :
• Sens horaire = Marche en avant de l'outil.
• Sens antihoraire = Marche arrière de l'outil.
ETP: Vérifiez que le sens de fonctionnement de l'outil est correct en poussant
l'interrupteur d'inversion :
La fonction du démarrage en douceur facilite l'entrée dans la tête et la pénétra-
tion du filetage de la vis.
La durée du démarrage en douceur est réglable, voir le manuel du POWER FO-
CUS ou de l'unité de commande.
L'outil est équipé de quatre DEL pour des tâches spécifiques :
• DEL de connexion : indique la connexion au Power Focus

• DEL de la batterie : Indique le statut de la batterie (lumière clignotante pour
un niveau de batterie faible et lumière fixe pour la batterie vide)
• DEL du lot : indique que le lot est terminé
• DEL d'alarme : Une défaillance ou un événement est détecté
Prévention des problèmes de DES
Les composants que contiennent l’outil et le contrôleur sont sensibles aux dé-
charges électrostatiques. Pour éviter tout mauvais fonctionnement futur, assu-
rez-vous que les opérations d’entretien et de maintenance se déroulent dans un
environnement de travail homologué DES. L’illustration ci-dessous présente un
exemple de poste de travail acceptable pour l’entretien.
Entretien
Lubrification
Lors de chaque révision, graissez les engrenages planétaires ainsi que les roule-
ments à billes et à aiguilles avec de la graisse contenant du bisulfure de molyb-
dène.
Veillez à respecter la quantité spécifiée. Tout graissage excessif ou insuffisant
peut engendrer des problèmes.

Révision
Faites entretenir votre outil électrique par un réparateur qualifié, en utilisant
uniquement des pièces de rechange d'origine. Ceci permettra de maintenir la
sécurité de l'outil électrique.
L'entretien ne doit être confié qu'à un personnel qualifié, ayant accès aux ins-
tructions d'entretien ou ayant reçu une formation à l'entretien des outils Tensor
STB.

Le moteur électrique est une unité hermétique qui ne peut en aucun cas être ou-
verte par quiconque autre qu'Atlas Copco Industrial Technique AB!
Si l'on estime que le moteur électrique est défectueux ou a besoin d'une répara-
tion, il convient de renvoyer le bloc moteur complet chez Atlas Copco Indus-
trial Technique AB pour échange.
Les moteurs qui ont été ouverts par quiconque autre qu'Atlas Copco Industrial
Technique AB ne seront pas réparés.
Nous vous recommandons de procéder régulièrement à la révision et à la main-
tenance préventive de l'outil, une fois par an ou après 250000 serrages maxi-
mum, à la première échéance. Une révision plus fréquente peut s'avérer néces-
saire si la machine est utilisée en service intensif. Si la machine ne fonctionne
pas correctement, elle doit être immédiatement retirée du service et inspectée.
Lors du démontage de l'outil, toujours utiliser l'outil d'entretien 4080 0848 80
spécialement conçu (deux outils d'entretien sont nécessaires).

Directives d'ergonomie
Étudiez votre poste de travail en lisant cette liste de directives générales d'ergo-
nomie afin de voir si vous pouvez détecter des possibilités d'amélioration quant
à la posture, au placement des composants ou à l'environnement de travail.
• Faire des pauses fréquentes et changer fréquemment de position de travail.
• Adapter le poste de travail à vos besoins et à la tâche à réaliser.
• S'organiser pour avoir un rayon d'action adapté en déterminant l'endroit
où les pièces ou outils devraient être positionnés pour éviter les efforts
statiques.
• Utiliser des équipements de poste de travail tels que des tables et des
chaises adaptés à la tâche à réaliser.
• Éviter les positions de travail au-dessus de l'épaule ou avec un maintien sta-
tique pendant les opérations d'assemblage.
• Pour travailler au-dessus de l'épaule, réduire la charge sur les muscles
statiques en réduisant le poids de l'outil, à l'aide par exemple de bras de
réaction, enrouleurs de flexible ou équilibreurs. On pourra également ré-
duire la charge sur les muscles statiques en tenant l'outil près du corps.
• Veiller à faire des pauses fréquentes.
• Éviter les postures extrêmes du bras ou du poignet, en particulier pour
les opérations nécessitant un certain effort.
• S'organiser pour avoir un champ de vision adapté en limitant le mouvement
des yeux et de la tête pendant l'exécution de la tâche.
• Utiliser un éclairage adapté à la tâche à réaliser.
• Sélectionner l'outil adapté à la tâche à réaliser.

• Utiliser des équipements de protection auditive dans les environnements
bruyants.
• Utiliser des outils insérés ou des consommables de grande qualité pour limi-
ter au strict minimum l'exposition à des niveaux excessifs de vibrations.
• Limiter l'exposition aux forces de réaction.
• Pendant le tronçonnage:
Un disque à tronçonner peut se coincer s'il est fléchi ou s'il n'est pas cor-
rectement guidé. Veiller à utiliser les flasques voulus pour les disques à
tronçonner et éviter de fléchir le disque pendant le tronçonnage.
• Pendant le perçage:
La perceuse peut caler lorsque le foret débouche. Veiller à utiliser des
poignées latérales si le couple de calage est trop élevé. La norme de sé-
curité ISO11148 partie 3 recommande d'utiliser un moyen d'absorber le
couple de réaction au-dessus de 10Nm pour les outils à poignée révolver
et 4Nm pour les outils droits.
• Lors de l'utilisation de visseuses ou boulonneuses à entraînement direct:
Les forces de réaction dépendent du réglage de l'outil et des caractéris-
tiques de l'assemblage. La capacité à supporter les forces de réaction dé-
pend de la force de l'opérateur et de sa posture. Adapter le réglage de
couple à la force de l'opérateur et à sa posture et utiliser un bras ou un
toc de réaction si le couple est trop élevé.
• Utiliser un système d'extraction des poussières ou un masque de protection
de la bouche dans les environnements poussiéreux.

Pour des raisons techniques, les pièces dépourvues de numéro de référence ainsi
que celles fournies dans les kits de service ne sont pas disponibles séparément.
L’emploi de pièces autres que des pièces de rechange Atlas Copco d’origine
peut altérer les performances et augmenter les entretiens, voire même annuler
toutes les garanties, selon l’appréciation de la société.
Garantie
Pour toute réclamation concernant un produit, veuillez prendre contact avec
votre représentant Atlas Copco. La prise en charge dans le cadre de la garantie
n'est acceptée que si le produit a été installé, utilisé, lubrifié et révisé conformé-
ment à la notice d'utilisation.
La garantie ne sera pas acceptée si l'on détecte que le moteur électrique a été
ouvert.
