1. Getting Started
Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Avision 4-in-1 MFP product. This product is Avision’s
latest innovation which integrates scan, copy, print, and fax functions into one unit
which support document up to A3 size.
In addition, through the network port at the back of the machine, the product is able
to work as a network printer. Through the LCD-display and easy-to-use control
panel, making copies is easy just as you normally do on a regular copier.
Features
Digital Copying:
With the advanced CIS technology, the product is able to perform outstanding copy
quality to present photo with various shades of gray.
Various Advanced Copy Features
The product is designed with various advanced copy features which includes ID card
copy, auto rotate to match output paper, paper saver to copy multi-page document
onto a single sheet and etc.
Duplex Copying
With an optional duplex unit, the product allows you to perform duplex copies.
Scanning:
When the product is connected to a computer, it can be used as a full scanner to
capture photos or documents into your computer.
Printing:
When the product is connected to a computer through the USB interface, it is able
to scan your document and perform printing through your computer.

Embedded Web Page:
With the embedded webpage, the product allows the administrator to remotely
manage telephone book, storage job, and view the status of printer supplies status.
Net Scanning:
When the product is connected to a intranet environment, the product is able to
scan and save documents to the built-in memory card and also allow a network user
to remotely receive the scanned images via a network utility.
Storage Copying & Printing:
Without the need to print a huge amount of paper document, an individual user can
scan and save the scanned document to the product’s memory card and then share
the images with other users in the network who may want to print a specific
document.
Faxing:
With a built-in fax board and an additional telephone line, the product is able to
transmit your scanned document to a fax machine just like regular fax machine.

The Rear View
1. Power Receptacle: To connect power with a power cable.
2. USB Port: To connect a computer through a USB cable.
3. EXT Jack:
To connect the product to a telephone.
4. LINE Jack:
To connect the product to a “RJ-11” telephone
jack provided by the telephone company with a
telephone line.
Note: If you wish to use the product as a
regular fax machine, you must plug one end of
the telephone line to the “Line” jack (the
external one) and plug the other end to the
“RJ-11” telephone jack with a telephone line.
5. LAN Port: To connect network with a network cable.

The Control Panel
Part A:
Allows you to enter a toner saving mode.
Interrupts a current PC-print job and to do a copy job
first. When the copy is finished, the PC-print job will
continue.
Used for “storage copy” in the copy working mode.
Used as fax hotkeys in the fax working mode.
Stops an operation at any time and lets you exit the
menu.
Starts an operation such as making copies or sending a
fax.

Part B:
Book Mode: Copies two specified pages of a book to
two separated pages on the printer output tray.
Auto Rotate: Automatically rotates your document
orientation to match with your output paper.
Auto Size: Automatically rescale your document to
copy the entire contents on your output paper.
None: Uses none of the above functions.
ID Copy: Allows you to copy the front and rear side of
your ID card on one side of paper.
Paper Saver: Allows you to copy 1, 2, or 4 pages of
document into one single sheet of paper.

Chooses your copy mode.
Mixed: Suitable for most typed originals.
Photo: Suitable when your original contains photos.
Text: Select to sharpen your text.
Choose your copies to be placed in “Sort” (e.g. pages
1,2,3/1,2,3/1,2,3) order, in “Stack” (e.g. pages
1,1,1/2,2,2/3,3,3) order, or in “Rotate Collate” (e.g. pages
1,2,3/1,2,3 (rotated)/1,2,3/1,2,3 (rotated) )order.
Reduce or enlarge your original.
Lighten or darken your original.
Increase your copy count. (Default value is 1.)
(Pressing the button one time increases one page.)
Selects to load your paper from tray 1, tray 2(optional), or
manual tray.

Part C:
Press to use the Fax function.
Press to use the Scan function.
Press to use the Copy function.
Error LED: Turns on when any error unrelated to
toner happens.
Toner LED: Turns on when the toner cartridge is
empty or blinks when the remaining toner is lower
than 20% of the full toner capacity.
LCD-display: Displays messages on the screen
to help you set up and use this product.
Press to select settings.
Scrolls through the options.
Accept an option.
Returns to the previous menu level.

Numeric pad:
Enters a number or alphabetical characters.
One-Touch keys
The One-Touch keys give you instant access to 10
previously stored dial numbers.
To access #6 through #10, hold down the Shift key
with a selected One-Touch key.
Lets you dial stored numbers.
It also lets you look up numbers that are stored in
the dialing memory.
Dials the last number you have called.
Press Pause to insert a three-second pause in a
number you are entering to wait for an outside line
or get through an automated answering system.

Choose your quality type.
Choice: Standard, *Fine, Extra Fine, Photo
Standard (200 x 100 dpi): Suitable for most typed
originals.
Fine (200 x 200 dpi): Good for small print.
Extra Fine (200 x 400 dpi): Good for small print or
artwork and transmits slower than Fine resolution.
Photo (200 x 400 dpi): Use when the original has
varying shades of gray.
Note: Faxes are sent in the specified resolution if
that resolution is supported by the receiving fax
machine.
Adjusts the brightness of your document.
The On Hook Dial lets you to dial a telephone number
while listening to the call through a speaker.
The available output paper sizes to send a fax.
Choice includes A4, B4, A3, and Letter.
For some telephone exchange systems, pressing the
button means dialing the representative outside
connection number of the telephone exchange
system.

Preinstallation Information
Before using the product, please setup the product properly on you network to use
the NetScan and network printing function. The following network parameters have
to be collected from your network administrator.

Explanation of contents:
1. *DHCP Enable: Choose Yes to obtain IP/subnet/gateway addresses
automatically from DHCP server.
2. *IP Address: The Internet Protocol (IP) address assigned to your
machine by your network administrator or by DHCP Server.
3. Subnet Mask: The net mask address assigned by your network
administrator or by DHCP Server.
4. Gateway IP: The gateway IP address assigned by your network
administrator or by DHCP Server.
Note:
1. DHCP server: With DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), a host can
automatically be given a unique IP address each time it connects to a
network--making IP address management an easier task for network
administrators. If the DHCP server is available from your network, you do not
need to enter TCP/IP, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS information. Instead,
this information will be automatically given for the product.
2. IP Address: An IP (Internet Protocol) address uniquely identifies a host
connection to an IP network. System administrator or network designer
assigns the IP address. The IP address consists of two parts, one identifying
the network and the one identifying your node.
The IP address is usually written as four numbers separated by periods. Each
number can be zero to 255. For example, 10.1.30.186 could be an IP
address.

Intranet Communication Features
When the product is connected to a intranet environment, this MFP allows you to
perform the following features via the intranet capability:
NetScan: Scan and save the scanned image to the product’s memory. A network
user can access the scanned images with NetScan utility.
Network Printing: Print a file through the network.
Storage Print: Store a print job temporarily in the MFP.
PC-Fax: Send a file from a network computer through the MFP’s telephone line to a
remote fax machine.
Webpage: Manage remotely your telephone book, storage job, and view the status
of printer supplies status with the embedded webpage.
