TheAxisproductprovidesseveralvideostreamformats.Yourrequirementsandthepropertiesofyournetworkwilldeterminethe
typeyouuse.
TheliveviewwindowintheproductprovidesaccesstoH.264andMotionJPEGvideostreams,andtothelistofavailalestream
proles.Otherapplicationsandclientscanaccessvideostreamsdirectly,withoutgoingviatheliveviewwindow.
AboutH.264format
H.264can,withoutcompromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideoleymorethan80%comparedwiththeMotion
JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworkandwidthandstoragespace
arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,muchhighervideoqualitycaneachievedforagivenitrate.
Decidingwhichcominationofprotocolsandmethodstousedependsonyourviewingrequirements,andonthepropertiesof
yournetwork.TheavailaleoptionsinAXISMediaControlare:
UnicastRTPThisunicastmethod(RTPoverUDP)isused
forliveunicastvideo,especiallywhenitis
importanttohaveanup-to-datevideostream,
evenifsomeframesaredropped.
RTPoverRTSPThisunicastmethod(RTPtunneledoverRTSP)
