Motorized Two-Way Ball Valve
with Screwed-End Connection
General
Model VY6300A/VY6300B is a series of motorized two
way ball valve with screwed-end connection.
Models VY6300A and VY6300B provide two-position con-
trol of chilled/hot water.
The ball valves with little pressure loss are suitable for
open/close operation.
Features
Actuator (electrically motorized) provides smooth
open/close operation so that water hammer is prevented
when the valve is closed.
Valve is manually opened and closed by simply moving
the lever or using the a wrench.
Output signal (voltage contact) for pilot lamp allows
remote monitoring of Model VY6300.
Valve position is easily visible by checking the positon
indicator located on the bottom or the bilateral sides of
the actuator.
Dust-proof and splash-proof enclosure complies with IEC IP54.

Installation and wiring must be performed by qualified personnel in accordance with all applicable safety

Do not use the product in an atmosphere corrosive to the actuator, valve, and their components. Doing so might
damage the product.

CAUTION (2/2)
Install this product in the proper position as specified in this manual. Excessively tight connection or improper
installation position might damage the product. Failure to do so might damage the valve body.
Do not excessively screw the valve into a pipe. Doing so might damage or deform the inside of the valve causing
leakage and malfunction.
Install this product so that no foreign objects remains inside the pipes. Be sure to provide a strainer (with 40 or
more meshes) on the inflow side of the piping. Flush the piping to remove the foreign objects after installation.
Foreign objects inside the piping might damage the product.
After installation, make sure no fluid leaks from the valve-pipe connections. Incorrect installation might cause
fluid leakage.
When the actuator is removed and mounted again, make sure that the lock lever is firmly closed (locked). The
actuator might drop and cause injury.
Do not put load or weight on the actuator of this product. Doing so might damage the product.
All wiring must comply with applicable codes and ordinances.
Provide a cutoff device such as a circuit breaker for the power to this product.
Provide a circuit protector (e.g., a fuse, cut-off device) for the control panel to ensure your safety.
Use crimp terminals with insulation for connections to the product terminals. Failure to do so might cause short
circuit leading to fire or device failure.
Firmly tighten the terminal screws. Insufficient tightening of the terminal screws might cause fire or overheating.
Do not allow the fluid to freeze. Doing so might damage the valve body and cause fluid leakage.
Do not touch the moving parts of this product. Doing so might cause injury.
Do not carelessly touch the product since temperature of some parts in the actuator goes high. Doing so you
might get burned.
Do not carelessly touch this product when being used to control hot water. The product temperature goes high,
and you might get burned.
Do not disassemble this product. Doing so might cause device failure.
Dispose of this product as industrial waste in accordance with your local regulations. Do not reuse all or part of
this product.
IMPORTANT
In order to prevent damages by freezing while it is not used in winter, fully open the valve to drain water out of the pipes,
and then open and close the valve once. Failure to do so, the water in the valve might freeze and expand to damage the
valve.

Precautions for Installation
Environment
Select a location where maintenance, inspection, and
manual open/close operation are easily performed. Be
sure to leave enough clearances around the Model
VY6300 for maintenance, inspection, and manual
open/close operation as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
CAUTION
Although the Model VY6300 can be used in
high humidity environments (max. 95 %RH),
do not immerse it in water.
Although the Model VY6300 can be used
outdoors, be sure to attach the outdoor cover*
so as not to expose the actuator to direct
sunlight.
If the Model VY6300 is installed in a ceiling,
provide an access hole on the ceiling (within
50 cm radius). And, set a drain pan under the
valve.
Note: To order outdoor cover, separate order is required.

Installation position
Model VY6300 can be mounted onto vertical pipes as
well as to horizontal pipes.
Model VY6300 can be mounted in any position from
upright to sideways. The valve should be installed with
its actuator vertically positioned above the valve.
When Model VY6300 is installed outdoors, it must be
installed in upright position.

Piping
1. When connecting the valve to pipes, hold the valve body
(hexagonal part) with a tool such as a wrench, and
screw the pipe into the valve. (See Fig. 6) Do not apply
excessive torque to the pipe. Refer to Table 1 for the
recommended torque.

Heat Insulation
Do not apply heat insulation to the actuator or to the yoke.
Apply heat insulation only to the area boxed with dotted lines
shown in Fig. 7 if necessary.

Actuator
Model VY6300 features a single unit construction with the
actuator and valve combined together. Do not separate to
combine with another valve/actuator.
Position for shipment
The actuator shaft is positioned at ‘O’ (in fully open position)
for shipment. (See Figs. 8 and 9.)

Manually Opening/Closing the Valve:
Model VY6300X0011/VY6300X0021/VY6300X0022
CAUTION
To manually open or close the valve, be sure
to disconnect from the power supply
(100 V AC/200 V AC). If the valve is manually
opened or closed with the power applied, the
actuator may be damaged.
To prevent your finger from being pinched
and injured, do not put your fingers between
the main unit and the indicator/manual lever,
especially on the area with attached.
Be sure to disconnect the power supply before manually
opening/closing the valve (DN15, DN20, or DN25 size).
Adjust the indicator/manual lever with the lever release but-
ton (as shown in Fig. 10) pushed in. Do not use any tool to
adjust the indicator/manual lever.

CAUTION
To manually open or close the valve, be sure
to disconnect from the power supply (100 V
AC/200 V AC). If the valve is manually
opened or closed with the power applied, the
actuator may be damaged
Never rotate the joint out of “0” to “100” range
of the scale.
Be sure to disconnect the power supply before manually
opening/closing the valve (DN32, DN40, or DN50 size). As
shown in Fig. 11, hold the joint with a tool such as a hexag-
onal wrench, and turn the joint slowly toward the position to
set up.

Changing the Actuator Connection Position
For Models VY6300X0011, VY6300X0021, VY6300X0022
(DN15 to DN25 valves):
The following is the procedure for changing the position of
the actuator mounted onto the valve.
IMPORTANT:
The actuator can be horizontally rotated every
90 degrees to fit into the valve (4 mounting
positions). Make sure the positions of the
actuator and of the valve are as follows. (see Fig.
10.)
- Actuator: The indicator/manual lever points
at ‘O’ (fully open).
- Valve: The arrow on the top of the valve
stem points at ‘O’ (fully open).
The hole on the side of the valve stem faces the
direction to which the raised part of the mounting
flange points. (See the procedure 4).)
Be sure not to mix up the combination of valve,
yoke and actuator with other combinations.
1)Move the indicator/manual lever to ‘O’ with the lever
release button pushed in.
2)Move the lock lever to the right-end.
Mount the actuator onto the valve. 4 mounting positions are
available: To combine with the valve, the actuator can be
horizontally turned every 90 degrees based on the factory
preset position.
3)Make sure that the arrow on the top of the valve stem
points at ‘O’ and that the hole on the side of the stem faces
the direction to which the raised part of the mounting flange
points.
4)Make sure that the indicator/manual lever of the actuator is
positioned at ‘O’.
5)When mounting, place the actuator on the valve mounting
flange so that the 4 projecting points on the bottom of the
actuator fit into the 4 holes on the valve mounting flange.
6)After mounting the actuator onto the vavle, move the lock
lever to the left-end (marked with the marker).

(DN32 to DN50 valves):
The following is the procedure for changing the position of
the actuator mounted onto the valve.
IMPORTANT:
The actuator can be horizontally rotated every

positions). Make sure the positions of the
actuator and of the valve are as follows. (see Fig.
10.)
- Actuator: The indicator/manual lever points
at ‘O’ (fully open).
- Valve: The arrow on the top of the valve
stem points at ‘O’ (fully open).
The hole on the side of the valve stem faces the
direction to which the raised part of the mounting
flange points. (See the procedure 4).)
Be sure not to mix up the combination of valve,
yoke and actuator with other combinations.
1)Change the actuator mounting position only when the
actuator is in fully open position.
2)Remove the screws connecting the actuator and the yoke.
Lift the actuator and detach it from the yoke. (Make sure
that the hole on the side of the valve stem faces the
direction to which the raised part of the mounting flange
points.) <Step 1>
3)Remove the screws connecting the yoke and the valve
body. <Step 2>
4)Change the direction of the yoke to the desired direction.
The actuator and the yoke can be horizontally rotated
every 90 degrees to fit into the valve mounting position
(0/90/180/270from the factory preset position). <Step
3>
5)A thermal insulation sheet is inserted between the yoke
and the valve. If the mounting position is changed, be sure
to reinsert the thermal insulation sheet to fit into position (1
sheet between valve body and yoke).
6)Before attaching the yoke to the valve with screws, check
that the actuator engages correctly with the stem. (Check
that the actuator position indicator is in fully open position.)
7)Mount the actuator to the yoke, with the direction changed.

Wiring
Wiring precautions
For 0.75 mm2or larger multiconductor cable, use a seal
connector (cable gland) requiring separate order. (Refer to
Table 2.) For 1.25 mm2or larger insulated wires, use the
conduit set (Part No. 83157240-004).
If Model VY6300 is used outdoors, be sure to waterproof the
cable (with conduits, flexible tubes, or water-proof plica
tubes) and the wiring port (with a seal connector).
Fig. 12 shows an example of the internal and external wiring
connections.

CAUTION
Always disconnect the power source and
product power supply before performing any
wiring to prevent electrical shock or equip-
ment damage.
Do not apply any voltage other than the
specified (100 V AC/200 V AC). Motor and
printed circuit board (PCB) may burn out.
Make sure that the cover is always closed
except during wiring work.
Wiring must be performed by qualified per-
sonnel in accordance with all applicable
safety standards.
Never apply 100 V AC/200 V AC voltage to
the terminal 4 (ground terminal).
Be sure to remove all the metal chips, made
by cutting out a knockout hole, inside the
actuator.
For splash-proof enclosure...
Be sure to completely close the terminal cover and the top
cover.
Waterproof the wiring port.
Provide a seal connector (cable gland) specified in the
following (Table 2) with the wiring port .

Wiring procedure for Models VY6300X0011,
VY6300X0021, VY6300X0022 (DN15 to DN25 valves):
1)Open the cover, and let the cable through the wiring port.
(See Fig. 13.)
2)Wires are connected to the M3.5 screw terminals.
Connect the wires to the corresponding terminals, referring
to Fig. 12.
3)Close the cover and fix it with the setscrew.

Wiring procedure for Models VY6300X0031,
VY6300X0041, VY6300X0051 (DN32 to DN50 valves):
1)To lead the cable into the actuator, cut out a knockout hole
for a wiring port. There are two knockout holes on the
bilateral sides of the actuator terminal block: one 22 mm
knockout hole on each side. Select a knockout hole
according to the mounting direction of wiring couduit, and
cut out the knockout hole by lightly knocking it with a
screwdriver. (See Fig. 14. )

2)To connect the wires to the terminals, unscrew the three
setscrews (M4 10), and remove the terminal cover. (See
Fig. 15.)
3)Correctly connect the wires to the terminals with M3.5
screws, referring to Fig 12.

4)Put the terminal cover back and fix it with the setscrews.

Maintenance and Inspection
CAUTION
Cover and case of the actuator are made of
polycarbonate resin. Some chemicals and
organic solvents and their vapor may corrode
or crack the cover and the case. Do not ex-
pose the actuator to such substances.
1) Inspection
Inspect Model VY6300 according to Table 3.
Manually open/close Model VY6300 at least once a month
if it is left in inactive state, with the actuator mounted on the
valve, for a long period.
2) Maintenance
Visually inspect the actuator operations and the valve fluid
leakage to the outside every six months. If any of the
problems described in Table 4 are found, take
corresponding actions shown in the table.
