
5. CARE & MAINTENANCE
BEFORE ANY CARE AND MAINTENANCE IS ATTEMPTED PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE BARBEQUE
CONTROLS ARE IN THE ‘OFF’ POSITION AND THAT ALL SURFACES HAVE BEEN GIVEN SUFFICIENT
TIME TO COOL DOWN.
Pleasenotethefollowingwhenmaintainingandcaringforyourbarbeque:
• Cleaningyourbarbequeregularlywillhelptokeepapristinelook.
• ThrowingcoldwateroveranyhotsurfaceofthebarbequeisNOTrecommendedandisdangerous.
• Avoidhandlingandtouchinghotpartsofthebarbeque.
• Asagoodpractice,yourbarbequeshouldbecoveredwhenleftunusedforlongperiodsespecially
duringthelongwinterbreaks.
( I) CLEANING THE HOTPLATE
Afteryouhavenishedcookingitisbesttocleanthecookingsurfacewhileitisstillwarm.Scrapeoffall
excessfoodusingastiffspatulaorpapertowelsecuredwithtongssothatyoudon’tburnyourself.
Thereislittlepointincleaningyourcookingsurfacesuntiltheysparklebecausethey’llbeblack
againafteryournextbarbeque.Justremovethefoodresidueandscrapeoffanyexcessbuild-up.Youshould
alsosprayalightlmofcookingoilontheplateforadditionalprotectionagainstcorrosion.
( II ) CARE OF THE BURNERS
• Normaluseandtheburnoffshouldensurethatanyexcessfoodandjuicesareburntoffandthis
willhelptokeeptheburnersclean.
• Theburnersshouldbecheckedandcleanedyearly.Itisimportanttocheckthattheburnerholes
arefreeofdebrisandinsects.
• Blockagesanddebrisshouldbecarefullyremovedusingapipecleaner.
• Ensurethatwhentheburnersarereplacedtheyarepositionedcorrectlyoverthecontrolvalves,
caremustbetakennottodamagethevalves.
( III ) CARE OF THE BARBEQUE BODY
• Regularcareandmaintenanceofthebarbequebodywillsignicantlyincreaseitslifeandlong
termappearance.
• Excessgreaseandfatcanberemovedwithasoftscraper.
• Ifrequiredpaintedsurfacesofthebarbequebodycanbecleanedbyusinghotsoapywaterandasoftbristled
brushandcloth.
• Caremustbetakennottoimmersethegascontrols(manifoldandinjectors)inwater.
• Whenre-assemblingthebarbequeaftercleaningitisimportanttocheckthatthebarbequefunctionscorrectly.
( IV) MAINTENANCE OF FIXINGS
• Overtimeandwithregularusethexingscrewsandnutsmaystarttobecomeloose,aregularcheckofall
xingsisrecommended.
( V) STORAGE
• Toensuremaximumlifefromyourbarbequeitshouldalwaysbestoredinacooldryplace.
• Duringlongperiodsofstoragetheburnersshouldbecoveredwithaluminiumfoiltopreventdebrisand
insectsfromblockingtheburnerholes.
• Ifyouchoosetostorethemainbarbequeinsidethegascylindermustbedisconnectedandstoredoutside
underthefollowingconditions:
o Alwaysstorethegascylinderoutsideinawellventilatedarea
o Ensurethatthegascylinderisnotstoredindirectsunlightorclosetoheatsourcesandother
dangerousappliances.
o Keepthegascylinderoutofreachofchildren.
