edition ofthe NationalFuelGasCode ANSIZ223.1.In
Canada,installation mustconform tostandardCAN/CSA
1b149.1or1-b149.2(Installation CodeforGasBurning
Appliancesand Equipment)and alllocalcodes.
ProperPlacementand ClearanceofGrill
Neveruseyourgasgrillinagarage,porch, shed,breeze
breezewayoranyotherenclosed area.Yourgasgrillisto
be used outdoorsonly,atleast36 inches fromtheback
and36inchestothesideofanycombustiblesurface.
Yourgasgrillshouldnot beplaced underanysurfacethat
willburn.Donot obstruct the flowofventilation airaround
the gasgrillhousing.
Thisoutdoorgas grill isnotintendedtobeinstalled
inoronrecreational vehiclesand/orboats.

LPgasgrillmodelsaredesigned forusewithastandard
20 lb.LiquidPropaneGas(LPgas)tank,notincludedwith
grillbox. Never connectyourgasgrilltoan LPgastankthat
exceedsthiscapacity. Atankofapproximately12 inchesin
diameterby18-1/2incheshigh isthe maximumsizeLPgas
tanktouse.APropanetankwithanOPD(OverfillPrevention
Device)must be used.Thissafetyfeaturepreventsthe tank
frombeing over-filled whichcan causemalfunction ofthe LP
gastank,regulatorand/orgrill.
TheLPgastankmustbe constructed and markedin
accordancewithspecificationsoftheU.S.Dpt. of
Transportation (DOT).InCanada,the LPgastankmust
meet the Canadian TransportationandCommunications
(CTC)specifications.Alsobe suretoread and followallLP
instructionson thefollowing page.
Iftheoutdoorcookinggas appliance isnotinuse,the
gasmustbeturnedoffatthesupplycylinder.
(a)DonotstoreaspareLP-gas cylinderunderornear
thisappliance;
(b)Neverfill thecylinderbeyond80percentfull;and
(c)Iftheinformationin(a)and (b)isnotfollowed
exactly, afirecausingdeathorseriousinjurymay
occur.
1.The LPgastankhasashutoff valve, terminating inan
LPgassupplytankvalveoutlet,thatiscompatiblewith
aType1tankconnection device. TheLPgastankmust
alsohaveasafetyrelief devicethathasadirect com-
munication withthevaporspaceofthe tank.
2.The tanksupplysystemmustbe arrangedforvapor
withdrawal.
3.The LPgastankusedmust haveacollartoprotectthe
tankvalve.
Never connectan unregulatedLPgastanktoyourgas
grill. The gasregulatorassemblysupplied withyourgas
grillisadjustedtohavean outlet pressureof 11"water
column(W.C.)forconnectiontoan LPgastank.
Onlyusetheregulatorand hoseassemblysupplied with
yourgasgrill.Replacementregulatorsand hoseassem-
bliesmustbe thosespecifiedbymanufacture.
HaveyourLPgastankfilledbyareputablepropanegas
dealerandvisuallyinspectedandre-qualified at each
filling.
Neverfillthe gastankbeyond 80%full.Haveyour
propane gasdealercheck the releasevalveafterevery
fillingtoensurethatit remainsfreeofdefects.
Always keepLPgastanks inan uprightposition.
Donotstore(oruse)gasoline orotherflammable
vaporsand liquidsinthe vicinityofthisgasgrill.
AnLPgastankthatisnot connectedforusemust NOT

LPgastanks must bestored outdoorsinawell-venti-
lated area. Disconnected LPgastanks mustnot bestored
inabuilding, garageoranyotherenclosed area.
When yourgasgrillisnotinusethe gasmustbe turned
off atthe LPgastank.
Theregulatorand hoseassemblymust beinspected
beforeeachuseofthegrill.Ifthereisexcessiveabra-
sionorwearorifthe hoseiscut,it must bereplaced
priortothe grillbeing used again.
Keep the gasregulatorhoseawayfromhot grillsurfaces
and dripping grease.Avoidunnecessarytwistingof
hose.Visuallyinspecthosepriortoeachuseforcuts,
cracks,excessivewearorotherdamage. Ifthe hose
appearsdamageddonotusethegasgrill. Callourser-
vicecenterat 1-800-752-3085.
Never light yourgasgrillwiththe lidclosed orbefore
checking toinsurethe burnertubesarefullyseated over
the gasvalveorifices.
Never allowchildren tooperateyourgrill.Donotallow

disconnected fromthe gassupplypiping systemduring any
pressuretestingofthatsystemat testpressuresin excess
of 1/2 psi(3.5kPa).
Thebarbecuemust beisolated fromthegassupply
piping systembyclosing itsindividual manualshut-offvalve
duringanypressuretesting ofthe gassupplypiping system
at test pressures equaltoorless than psi(3.5kPa)
Theunitsaresupplied fromthe factoryequipped for
usewithnaturalgasandincludesanaturalgasregulator.
Ifoperation withpropane gasisdesired,you mustpur-
chase aPropaneModel. Inaddition,a PropaneGas
RegulatorMUST be installed inthegassupplyline from
the propanegastank.

Toreducethe chanceof FLASHBACK , youmustclean the
burnertubesbeforeassemblingyourgrill,and atleastonce
amonthinlatesummerorearlyfall when spidersaremost
active.Alsoperform thisburnertube cleaningprocedureif
yourgrillhasnotbeen usedforan extendedperiod oftime.
BEFOREUSINGYOURGRILL
Toreducethechanceof FLASHBACK clean the burn-
ertubesandburners before fullyassemblingyourgrill.
Unscrewthe boltat the rearof the burnerusing ascrew-
driver. Carefullylift eachburnerup and awayfromthegas
valveorifice,then referto Fig2 and performone of these
threecleaning methods:
1.Bendastiff wire,(alightweightcoathangerworks well)
intoasmallhookasshownbelow. Run the hookthrough
the burnertube and inside theburnerseveraltimesto
removeanydebris.
