» Use the system only for its intended use
» To protect against a risk of electric shock,
do not immerse any part of the system in
water or other liquids
» Do not allow cord to touch hot surfaces
» Do not run appliance over cord
» Do not operate the system with a damaged
cord or plug, or if the appliance or any
other part of the system has been dropped
or damaged. To avoid the risk of electric
shock, do not disassemble or attempt to
repair the Tough 35. Return the unit for
examination and repair. Incorrect
reassembly or repair can cause a risk of
electrical shock or injury and will not be
covered by the guarantee
» Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all
parts of body away from openings and
moving parts
» Do not use to pick up flammable or
combustible liquids such as gasoline or use
in areas where they may be present
» Do not pick up anything that is burning or
smoking such as cigarettes, matches or hot

» Use extra care when cleaning on stairs
» Do not use the Tough 35 without the
Microparticle filter in place, except when
vacuuming up liquids. Refer to page 6 for
operating instructions

caution not to over-fill the tank with liquid
to avoid risk of electrical shock and

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS:
Your Bennett Read Tough 35 needs very little assembly, please read and
follow the below instructions carefully:
1. Remove unit from packaging
2. Remove attachments from their packaging
3. Some of the packaging poses a choking risk to small children.
Dispose of the packaging responsibly. Recycle if possible
4. Before using for the first time check that all attachments listed are
included. If the unit is incomplete, return to the retailer immediately.
Take entire unit, packaging and proof of purchase to the store
where your purchase was made
5. Remove the Motor Unit (3) from the Dirt Tank (4) by loosening the
Securing Clips (16). Push Securing Clips (16) outwards to release
6. Turn the Dirt Tank (4) upside down
Note: you will need a Phillips screwdriver to complete the assembly

OPERATIONS
Only operate your Bennett Read Tough 35 in accordance with the instruction manual. Failure
to follow these instructions will result in decreased cleaning performance and may invalidate
your guarantee.
DRY VACUUMING:
Your Bennett Read Tough 35 Vacuum is perfect for vacuuming carpets, tiles, mattresses,
upholstery, curtains and car upholstery.
Setting up your Bennett Read Tough 35 for dry vacuuming:
1. Remove the Motor Unit (3) from the Dirt Tank (4) by pushing the Locking Clips (16)
outwards
7. Insert Castor Wheels (5) into the
Wheel base as shown
8. Insert all caster wheel
assemblies (5) at the
bottom of the Dirt Tank (4)
into the holes provided,
insert the screw and
tighten with Phillips
screwdriver. Take care not
to over-tighten the screws
as this may damage the
thread.
9. Your Tough 35 is now ready to be set up for your desired application.
2. Ensure that the Microparticle filter (20) is securely installed in place:

BLOWER FUNCTION:
Your Bennett Read Tough 35 has an additional function that allows you to blow away dirt and
dust that collect on various surfaces and hard to reach areas.
Setting up your Bennett Read Tough 35 to use the blower function:
1. Remove the Motor Unit (3) from the Dirt Tank (4) by pushing the Locking Clips (16) outwards
2. Ensure that the Microparticle filter is securely installed in place
3. Replace the Motor Unit (3) and lock clips in place (16)
WET VACUUMING:
Your Bennett Read Tough 35 can also suck up liquids*in and around your home…
Setting up your Bennett Read Tough 35 for wet vacuuming:
1. Remove the Motor Unit (3) from the Water/dirt Tank (4) by pushing the Locking Clips (16)
outwards
2. Remove the Microparticle filter (20) (as explained in the Maintenance and Care section on
the following page)
3. Return the Motor Unit (3) to the Dirt Tank (4) and clip locks in place (16) by pushing
inward
4. Insert the large end of the Flex Hose (10) into Vacuum Function Hose Port (2)
5. Attach the Extension Tubes (12) to the free end of the Flex Hose
6. Attach the Wet Pick-up Vacuum Nozzle (14) to the free end of the Extension Wand
7. Plug the Power Cable into the wall socket
8. Switch on unit using the Power Switch (1)
9. Vacuum wet spill / liquid from surface
10. When you are done, follow the cleaning instructions as outlined below
After each cleaning session it is of utmost importance that:
• The dirt tank be emptied and thoroughly rinsed and dried before storing
• The Microparticle filter is checked and cleaned
This will ensure that the unit continues to deliver outstanding performance time & again
*Please note that the Bennett Read Tough 35 is NOT a carpet deep cleaner.
Carpet deep cleaning should be done with specialized deep cleaners.
*Do not use to pick up boiling hot, flammable or combustible liquids
Your Bennett Read Tough 35 is equipped with a float valve located at the
bottom of the motor unit which will partially shut off the suction as soon
as the tank reaches capacity. Immediately switch off the machine and empty
the tank before continuing.
3. Return the Motor Unit (3) to the Dirt Tank (4) and clip locks in place (16) by pushing
inward
4. Insert the large end of the Flex Hose (10) into Vacuum Function Hose Port (2)
5. Attach the Extension Tubes (12) to the free end of the Flex Hose
6. Attach the Multi-Surface Vacuum Nozzle (13) to the free end of the Extension Wand
7. Plug the power cable into the wall socket
8. Switch on the unit using the Power Switch (1)
9. Vacuum in different directions across your surfaces to give you best results

MAINTENANCE AND CARE
4. Insert the large end of the Flex Hose (10) into the Blower function hose port (6). Turn
clockwise to lock in place
5. Attach the Extension tubes (12) to the free end of the Flex Hose (optional)
6. Plug the Power Cable into the wall socket
7. Switch on the unit using the Power Switch (1)
EMPTYING THE DIRT TANK:
1. Disconnect the Flex Hose (10) from the Motor Unit by turning anticlockwise and then
pulling the hose outward
2. Take the unit to disposal area
3. Unclip and lift the Motor Unit (3) from the Dirt Tank and place on the ground
4. Lift the Dirt Tank and empty the contents into the disposal area
5. The Dirt Tank (4) is also equipped with a Drain Plug (9) to easily dispose of liquids
6. Rinse the Dirt Tank under running water and dry before storing
It is necessary to clean the filter after EVERY USE / DAILY
• To remove the Microparticle filter, turn the Motor Unit (3) upside down
• Grasp the locking mechanism at the bottom of the Microparticle filter (20).
Twist anticlockwise and pull the filter outward to remove – see pictures below.
• Gently tap the filter on a solid surface, like the inside of a dust bin, to remove all visible dirt
and dust. Use a brush to remove any large dirt particles or hair from the filter
Wash the Microparticle filter weekly
• Wash the filter in warm water.
You may use a mild detergent
• Allow to dry completely before
re-installing the filter
• Replacement Microparticle filters are
available from major retail outlets
• Reassemble and store, ready to use!
CLEANING THE FILTER:
Note: Your Tough 35 is equipped with a Thermal Cut-off Switch that is designed to
protect the motor from overheating. Should the machine switch off whilst working,
unplug and check the Microparticle filter. Clean as explained below. Your machine will
be ready for use again as soon as it has cooled down. See the Troubleshooting Guide
for more information.
TIP: You can also use compressed air to remove dust and dirt from the filter.
IMPORTANT: NEVER USE THE MACHINE WITH A WET FILTER!

The machine will only switch on after it has cooled down sufficiently.
Permanent damage will be caused to your machine if you continue
to use the machine without addressing the root cause of the
overheating as explained above…

The Bennett Read Tough 35 has a one year product guarantee from Tevo (Pty)
Ltd. In the event of the unit malfunctioning, Tevo will replace or repair, at
Tevo’s option, any faulty component, free of charge from the date of purchase
by the original purchaser for one year. This guarantee does not apply to
routine maintenance components such as filters and brushes. Damage or
malfunction caused by negligence, abuse, unauthorized repair, or use not in
accordance with the User Guide is not covered. Tevo is not liable for
incidental or consequential damages of any nature associated with the use of
this product. Tevo’s liability will not exceed the purchase price of this product.
