» Use the system only for its intended use.
» To protect against a risk of electric
shock, do not immerse any part of
the system in water or other liquids.
» Never yank cord to disconnect from
outlet; instead, grasp plug and pull
to disconnect.
» Do not allow cord to touch hot
surfaces.
» Do not run appliance over cord.
» Do not operate the system with a
damaged cord or plug, or if the
appliance or any other part of the
system has been dropped or
damaged. To avoid the risk of
electric shock, do not disassemble or
attempt to repair the WHISPER.
Return the unit for examination and
repair. Incorrect re-assembly or
repair can cause a risk of electrical
shock or injury to persons when the
WHISPER is used.
» Do not leave the unit unattended while
connected. Keep hair, loose clothing,
fingers and all parts of body away from
openings and moving parts.
» Do not use to pick up flammable or
combustible liquids such as gasoline
and do not use in areas where these may
be present.
» Do not pick up anything that is burning or
smoking such as cigarettes, matches or
hot ashes.
» Do not vacuum up any liquids with the
WHISPER.
» Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
» Do not use the vacuum without the
dust bag or filters in place.
» This appliance is intended only for
household use. Follow all user
instructions in this manual.
» Do not leave the WHISPER
plugged in when un-attended.
Unplug the electrical cord when
not in use and before servicing.
» Do not allow to be used by children or to
be used as a toy.
»Close attention is necessary when
used near children, pets or plants.
» Use only as described in this
manual. Use only Bennett Read
recommended accessories.
» Do not pull cord, use cord as a handle,
close a door on cord, or pull cord
around sharp edges or corners.
» Turn off all controls as applicable before
unplugging from electrical outlet.
» Do not handle plug or vacuum with
wet hands or operate without shoes.
» Do not put any objects into openings.
» Do not use with any opening blocked.
»Keep free of dust, lint, hair and
anything else that may reduce air flow.
» Store your appliance indoors in a
cool, dry area.
» Keep your work area well lit.
» Keep end of hose, wands and other
openings away from your face and body.
» Use only on dry surfaces.
» Using improper voltage may result
in damage to the motor and
possible injury to the user. Correct
voltage is listed on rating label.
» Use only identical replacement parts.

ASSEMBLY
1. Your WHISPER comes fully
assembled but we recommend you
check the following before vacuuming:
• Pre-motor filter [12] properly
installed:
Open the dirt container lid (9) by lifting
the release catch (10) as shown on pg
8. Slide the pre-motor filter into the slot
from the top and clip it into place:
• Post-motor HEPA filter [13]:
Slide the HEPA filter in and press
down gently to clip it into place:
• Dust Bag [11] properly
installed:
Insert the front plastic housing of the
Dust Bag into the machine (arrows
pointing down) by inserting the bottom
of the housing into the slot inside the
tank cavity until it clips into place:
SETTING UP YOUR
WHISPER:
1. Connect the flex-hose (5) to the
vacuum by inserting the hose
connector (6) on the end of the
flex-hose into the suction inlet (18). To
remove the flex-hose, press the two
tabs on either side of the connector
and pull the flex-hose outwards.
3. To extend the extension wand,
hold the grip and push it away from
you. To retract, hold the grip and pull
it towards you:
2. Connect hose handle (4) to the end
of the extension wand (2) and twist
slightly to tighten:

4. Connect floor nozzle (1) to the end
of the extension wand (2) and twist
slightly to tighten:
5. Once assembled, you can store
your vacuum by inserting the storage
clip (located on the back of the floor
nozzle) into the storage slot on the
rear of the vacuum:

AUTOMATIC CORD REWIND
Your vacuum is equipped with an
automatic cord rewind. When
cleaning is finished, switch the
electricity off at the wall socket and
disconnect the plug from the electrical
outlet. Hold the plug and press the
automatic cord rewind button to
rewind the power cord:

Turn the power ON or OFF by
pressing lightly downward on
the power button:
VARIABLE SUCTION CONTROL
The power button also controls the
suction power of your Bennett Read
WHISPER:
A. Settings 1 and 2 are suitable for
delicate areas and fabrics such as
curtains, blinds, upholstery & area rugs:
OPERATIONS
POWER CORD
The power cord is located at the rear
of the vacuum. Gently pull out the
power cord:
Stop pulling the power cord once the
yellow line is visible. There is also a
red line, which indicates the end of
the useable cord. Do not pull the
power cord out beyond the red line.
Failure to adhere to this will render
your guarantee void.

SPECIAL TOOLS
Your Bennett Read WHISPER is not
only a powerful carpet and rug
vacuum cleaner, it is also a versatile
bare floor and above floor vacuum
cleaner when you select one of the
special tools:
FLOOR NOZZLE (1)
Use to vacuum carpets, rugs and
bare floors. Swivel head turns to get
into tight spaces and fits under
furniture and cabinets.
DUSTING BRUSH (15)
Use the dusting brush to clean
cornices, skirtings and tight spaces.
UPHOLSTERY TOOL (16)
Use the upholstery tool to clean
curtains, draperies, cushions and
fabrics.
CREVICE TOOL (17)
Use the crevice tool in tight, narrow
spaces.
PET TURBOBRUSH (19)
Ideal for removing pet hair from
furniture.
B. Setting 3 is for fitted carpets:

EMPTYING THE DUST BAG
• First, unplug the vacuum from
the electrical outlet. Remove the
hose by pressing the securing clips
inwards and pulling the hose
connector out from the suction
inlet. Set the hose aside

AIR FLOW REGULATOR
Open the airflow regulator (3) by
sliding the regulator up towards the
handle to create an open position.
This will reduce the suction power for
vacuuming delicate fabrics.
For full suction power, close the
airflow regulator by sliding the
regulator to the closed position.

• Open the Dirt Container lid:
Note: The Dirt Container lid will not close if
the Dust Bag is not fitted in place
• Remove the Dust Bag as shown:
• While holding the dust bag over
an outside dust bin, slide open the
bottom and shake the bag to rid of
all the dust and dirt inside
REPLACING/CLEANING
THE PRE-MOTOR FILTER
The pre-motor filter assists in
the filtration process that returns
cleaner air back into your home.
To avoid injury, turn vacuum OFF
and unplug cord from the wall
when performing maintenance.
!WARNING:
This bag can be rinsed under running
water and must be allowed to dry
completely before returning to the
machine. It is recommended to slide open
the bag at the bottom before washing
• Unplug the vacuum from the
electrical outlet
• Open the dirt container lid
• Remove the dust bag
• Press down on the button on top of
the pre-motor filter and pull
upwards to remove
• The pre-motor filter can be
hand-washed in cold water. Rinse
well and air-dry thoroughly before
returning to the vacuum
• Clip the pre-motor filter securely
back into place before use
Empty the dust bag (11) regularly to
ensure maximum suction power at
all times. The machine is equipped
with an LED “Dust Indicator” [20]
above the power button. Once
this indicator turns red, the bag
needs to be emptied immediately
as per the instructions
!CAUTION: • Ensure that the slider at the bottom
of the bag is completely closed
before returning to the machine

REPLACING/CLEANING THE
POST-MOTOR HEPA FILTER
The post-motor HEPA filter assists in
the filtration process that returns
cleaner air back into your home.
• Unplug the vacuum from the
electrical outlet
• Open the Dirt Container lid
• Remove the Dust Bag
• Remove the HEPA filter by lifting
the tab (indicated with an arrow
on the filter cover) and pulling the
filter outward
• Replace the post-motor HEPA filter
by sliding it back into the slot and
pressing down firmly on the arrow
until it clips into place
The post-motor HEPA filter is NOT
washable with water. Only use a
brush or compressed air to clean
the HEPA filter.
!CAUTION:
DO NOT OPERATE YOUR
BENNETT READ WHISPER
WITHOUT IT’S FILTERS IN
PLACE OR WITH WET/DAMP
FILTERS. SERIOUS DAMAGE
WILL BE CAUSED TO THE
MACHINE IF NOT OPERATED
ACCORDING TO THIS USER
GUIDE AND WILL VOID YOUR
WARRANTY.
!WARNING:
Your Bennett Read Whisper is
equipped with a Thermal
Cut-off function that is
designed to protect the motor
from overheating. Should the
machine switch off while
working, unplug the vacuum’s
power cord from the wall
socket, then check and clean
all filters as explained in this
User Guide. Allow your
vacuum to cool down before
switching it back on. See the
Troubleshooting Guide for
more information.

Your Bennett Read WHISPER has a 24 month product guarantee from Tevo
(Pty) Ltd. In the event of the unit malfunctioning, Tevo will replace or repair, at
Tevo’s option, any faulty component, free of charge from the date of
purchase by the original purchaser for 24 months. This guarantee does not
apply to routine maintenance components such as filters and brushes.
Damage or malfunction caused by negligence, abuse, unauthorized repair,
or use not in accordance with the User Guide is not covered. Tevo is not
liable for incidental or consequential damages of any nature associated with
the use of this product. Tevo’s liability will not exceed the purchase price of
this product.
