yourKeypadEZLock.Thisfeatureoffersaconvenientway
tounlockadoorforvisitors,contractors,andotherswho
eitherdonothaveaKeypadEZPersonalIdentification
Number(PIN)ormayhaveforgottentheirPIN.
Examplesofcommonuseinclude:
■receptionistentries
■securityguardstations
■receivingandshippingdocks

1 Completethestandarddoorpreparationforyour
cylindrical,mortise,orexithardwaretrimunit
describedintheinstallationinstructions.ButDONOT
installthemortisecase,cylindricallatch,oranyother
lockhardwareyet.
Forcylindricallocks:
■Witha1″diameterdrillbitextendingthroughthe
latchhole,drillontheoppositesideofthe 2 1/8″
boredholetoaminimumdepthof1″asshownin
Figure1.
Formortiselocks:
■Optional:Witha1″diameterdrillbitextendinginto
themortisecavity,drilloutanadditional1″asshown
inFigure2.
Forexithardware trimunits:
■Noadditionalpreparationisrequired.

Caution: Checkwithyour localfiremarshalbefore
drillingafire-rated door.Drillingthrough afire-
rateddoormay voidthefirelabel.
Caution: Becarefulto drillstraightthrough the
door,makingsure thedrilldoesnotbreak
throughtheface ofthedoor.

CompletethistestaftertheKeypadEZLockiscompletely
installed.
■Pressandreleasethemomentaryswitch.
Thegreenlightflashesandthelockingmechanism
unlocks.Then,aftertheprogrammedunlockduration
(defaultis3seconds),thelockingmechanismrelocks.
Note: YoudoNOTneedtokeepholdingtheswitch
buttondowntokeepthelockunlocked.
Theremoteunlockswitchwillnotoperateif:
■thedeadboltisthrown
■thebatteryisinthealarmstate.
Momentaryswitchandwiringrequirements:
Maxwirerun 500feet
Minswitchvoltage 5volts
Minswitch current 1mA
Minwiregauge 26AWG
Maxswitchbounce 50mSec
■Usingathreetofourfootdrillbit,drilla3/8″diameter
channel,throughtheedgeofthedoor,toorfromthe
centerofthenearesthingepreparation.
Note:
Forexithardwaretriminstallations,drillthe
channelfromthehingetotheharnessholeandfeed
thewiresthroughthathole,makingfinalconnections
insidethebatterycompartment.

Therearetwostandardwaystoextendthemomentary
switchwiresfromtheframetothedoor:
■Usinganelectrichinge,StanleyCECB179orequiva-
lent.ContactyourlocalBESTsalesofficeforspecific
orderinginformation.
■UsingaBEST8WDTLdoortransferloop,orequivalent.
Followthemanufacturer’sinstructionstoproperlyinstall
theelectrichingeor doortransferloop.

remoteunlockconnections
Atthepointofmakingthemotorandsensorconnections,
youneedtoalsomaketheremoteunlockconnection.
Note:
Theremoteunlockconnectionwiresarebrown
andarenotterminated.Usewirenutsorcrimpcon-
nectorstomaketheremoteunlockconnections.
1 Cuttheremoteunlockwirestoremovetheepoxyseal-
ant.Striptheremoteunlockwiresandthewiresfrom
theremoteunlockswitch.SeeFigure3.
2 Maketheremoteunlockconnection.Thewiresarenot
polarizedsoitdoesnotmatterwhichwiresaremated.
3 Installamomentarypush-buttonswitchataconve-
nientbutsecurelocation.
4 Makethefinalwireconnectionstotheswitch.
