Welcome to BIOTRONIK.
Your physician has prescribed a cardiac device that includes
BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring®. Home Monitoring®will keep track
of the performance of your device and will provide your physician
with information updates related to the device, including its settings
and performance, and whether its settings need to be updated.
This booklet provides information on your CardioMessenger®
II-S TLine, which is part of your Home Monitoring®system.
First, the booklet will show you the components of the system
using a pictorial inventory list. Next, it explains how to set up
your CardioMessenger®II-S TLine. Finally, the booklet answers
questions that patients commonly ask about the CardioMessenger®
II-S TLine.
You will soon receive your CardioMessenger®II-S TLine and additional
information. Should you have any questions about setting up your
CardioMessenger®II-S TLine, or need more information regarding

Your CardioMessenger®II-S TLine comes equipped with
four components.

Placement of ardoMessenger®II-S TLne
The CardioMessenger®II-S TLine requires connection to a
telephone wall jack and an electrical outlet.
Place the CardioMessenger®II-S TLine no further than six feet
from where you are going to sleep in order for data to transmit
properly. It is recommended that you place it on a bedside table or
close to your bed.
For detailed instructions, please refer to the CardioMessenger®
II-S TLine Technical Manual (included in your kit).

Quck Start-up Instructons
Step 1 — Connect to the telephone landline
The CardioMessenger®II-S TLine transmits the Home Monitoring®
data via your telephone landline. There are two methods for
connecting the CardioMessenger®II-S TLine to your telephone
landline:
Method A: CardioMessenger®II-S TLine and your telephone are
connected using the same telephone wall jack.
1. On the back side of the CardioMessenger®II-S TLine, remove
the protective plugs from the CardioMessenger®II-S TLine
phone jacks (labeled “1” and “2”).
2. Unplug your telephone’s cord from the wall jack and insert it
into the CardioMessenger®II-S TLine jack "2".
3. Insert the telephone cord (included) into CardioMessenger®
II-S TLine jack "1", and then insert the free end into your wall
jack. (See next page for a diagram of Method A.)
Method B: The CardioMessenger®II-S TLine is connected to your
telephone wall jack and there are no other devices (telephone,
answering machine or fax) connected.
1. On the back side of the CardioMessenger®II-S TLine, remove
the protective plug from the CardioMessenger®II-S TLine
phone jack labeled “1”.
2. Insert the telephone cord (included) into CardioMessenger®
II-S TLine jack "1", and then insert the free end into your wall
jack. (See next page for a diagram of Method B).

Step 2 — Connect to the electrical outlet
Using the power supply (included in your CardioMessenger®
II-S TLine kit), insert the power cord into the port (labeled 5V)
found on the left side of the CardioMessenger®II-S TLine, then
connect the cord to your electrical outlet. Make sure the outlet is
not controlled by a light switch.

The CardioMessenger®II-S TLine does not have an on/off switch.
After connecting it to your telephone landline and to your electrical
outlet, the CardioMessenger®II-S TLine performs a self-test (see
page 18 in the Technical Manual) and is ready for use as soon as the
operating light (located on the front of the CardioMessenger®
II-S TLine labeled “OK 2”) is illuminated green.
Please refer to the Technical Manual for an overview of
BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring®, detailed instructions,
precautions as well as other important information related to the
CardioMessenger®II-S TLine.

1. What is the CardioMessenger®II-S TLine and what does it do?
The CardioMessenger®II-S TLine is a monitor that receives
messages from your implant. It then transmits them to the
BIOTRONIK Service Center. The data is processed there and can
then be viewed by your physician on the Internet or via fax. Your
doctor can use this data to evaluate whether your device settings
need to be updated or if your therapy plans need to be changed.
Please note that the CardioMessenger®is not an emergency
system. It is for monitoring only.
2. How do I know if I have all the parts to my CardioMessenger®
II-S TLine?
Please refer to the list of components section of this guide.
3. Where should I place my CardioMessenger®II-S TLine for
best results?
You must place your CardioMessenger®II-S TLine no further
than six feet from where you are going to sleep in order for data
to transmit. It is recommended that you place it on a bedside
table or close to your bed.
4. How do I set up the CardioMessenger®II-S TLine?
Please refer to the Quick Start-up section of this guide.
5. How will I know if I have connected the CardioMessenger®
II-S TLine correctly?
The “OK 2” light should be illuminated solid green. If you have
any questions, feel free to call the BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring®
Department at 1-800-889-9066.

Frequently Asked Questons
6. Can BIOTRONIK tell me what my transmissions are
saying/ sending?
No. BIOTRONIK can only tell you if we are receiving messages
from your CardioMessenger®II-S TLine, but not the content.
BIOTRONIK can not provide you with any details related to the
transmitted information. If you would like this type of information
you must contact your physician. Your physician can interpret your
device transmission information.
7. Do I have to inform my physician about any trips I am planning
to take?
BIOTRONIK recommends that you inform your physician if you
will be traveling. At this time, you should also ask your physician
if they would like you to take the CardioMessenger®II-S TLine.
Some physicians require you to travel with it while others say it’s
ok not to. This depends on the length of vacation and your health.
8. Will my doctor be immediately contacted in the event of
an emergency?
The Home Monitoring®system is not an emergency alert system;
therefore you must contact your physician or emergency services
if you experience any unexpected medical conditions.
9. Is my data safe from unauthorized access at BIOTRONIK's
Service Center?
Yes. Your physician views your data on the internet via a secured
connection. The access is protected by username and password.
The BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring®system is approved for use
by the FDA and FCC, and by law, patient information remains
confidential. Moreover, the technology meets the requirements of
strict data protection regulation as required in Europe.
