Intended Use
Your BLACK+DECKER light has been designed for residential
lightingapplications.
DO NOT use under wet conditions or in presence of
flammable liquids orgases.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: When using the light, basic precautions
should always be followed, including thefollowing:
a ) To reduce the risk of injury, close supervision is
necessary when a light is used nearchildren.
b ) To reduce the risk of electrical shock, do not put
light in water or other liquid. Do not place or store
light where it can fall or be pulled into a tub orsink.
c ) Turn the light off when not inuse.
d ) Do not operate any light after it malfunctions or
is dropped or damaged in any manner.
e ) This light is intended for indoor and outdooruse.
Specific Safety Rules for Lights
WARNING: Do not place the light in a position
which may cause anyone to intentionally or
unintentionally stare into the light. Serious eye
injury couldresult.
WARNING: Fire hazard. Do not operate light or
charger near flammable liquids or in gaseous or
explosive atmospheres. Internal sparks may ignite
fumes causing personal injury.
• Do not pull or carry by charging cord, use charging
cord as a handle, close a door on charging cord, or
pull charging cord around sharp edges or corners.
• Keep charging cord away from heatedsurfaces.
• Do not allow the cord to hang over the edge of a table
or counter or touch hot surfaces. The unit should be
placed or mounted away from sinks and hotsurfaces.
• Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the
plug, not thecord.
• Do not handle charging cord, including charger plug
with wethands.
• Do not charge the unitoutdoors.
• Leaks from battery cells can occur under extreme
conditions. If the liquid, which is a 20-35% solution of
potassium hydroxide, gets on the skin (1) wash quickly with
soap and water or (2) neutralize with a mild acid such as
lemon juice or vinegar. If the liquid gets into the eyes, flush
them immediately with clean water for a minimum of 10
minutes. Seek medicalattention.
Additional Safety Warnings
a ) Recharge only with the charger specified by the
manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one
type of battery pack may create a risk of fire
when used with another batterypack. Refer to the
"Important Safety Instructions for All Integral Battery
Charging" section for more information.
b ) Do not use a battery or light that is damaged or
modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit
unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion or
risk ofinjury.
c ) Do not expose a battery to fire or excessive
temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above
266°F (130°C) may causeexplosion.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using an electrical light, basic precautions should always
be followed, including the following:

WARNING: Do not attempt to modify or repair thelight.
WARNING: Do not charge the battery at ambient
temperatures below 40°F (4°C) or above 104°F
(40°C). Follow all charging instructions and do not
charge the battery outside of the temperature range
specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or
at temperatures outside of the specified range may
damage the battery and increase risk offire.
• Shock Hazard. To protect against risk of electrical shock,
do not put charging base in water or otherliquid.
• Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is
necessary when used nearchildren.
• Store indoors.
• Do not use if damaged. If light is not working as it should,
has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into
water, return it to a servicecenter.
• Do not incinerate the light even if it is severely
damaged. The batteries can explode in afire.

Integral Battery Charging
WARNING: Read all safety warnings, instructions,
and cautionary markings for the battery, cable

WARNING: Only charge product using a certified
power adapter that is compliant with applicable
country regulations and international/regional
safety standards. Using adapters that do not meet
applicable safety standards could result in injury.
• The provided USB cable is not intended for any uses other
than charging BLACK+DECKER rechargeable tools.
Charging other types of tools may cause their batteries to
overheat and burst, resulting in personal injury, property
damage, fire, electric shock orelectrocution.
• DO NOT expose cable to water, rain orsnow.

with a spent battery to an authorized
BLACK+DECKER service center or to
your local retailer for recycling. In some
areas, it is illegal to place spent battery packs in the trash.
You may also contact your local recycling center for
information on where to drop off the spent battery pack. Do
not place in curbside recycling. For more information visit

BATTERIES
The product is not fully charged out of the carton. Before
using the product, read the safety instructions below and
then follow the charging proceduresoutlined.
NOTE: If the product is unused for approximately 90 days,
fully charge the battery to help prolong the life of the battery.

• Only use the battery / light with a charging system
specified by the manufacturer/supplier.
• Do not short-circuit a battery or allow metallic or
conductive objects to contact both battery terminals
simultaneously.
• Dispose of used batteries promptly according to the
manufacturer/supplier’s instructions.
• Improper battery use may result in a fire, explosion, or
other hazard.
• Battery / light usage by children should be supervised.
• This manual contains important safety and operating
instructions.
• Before using battery charger, read all instructions and
cautionary warnings on battery charger and product
using battery.
• If the supplied charging cord is used in other products,
batteries in other products may burst causing personal
injury or damage.
• Do not expose charger to rain or snow.
• To reduce risk of damage to electric plug and cord, pull
by plug rather than cord when disconnecting charger.
• Make sure cord is located so that it will not be stepped
on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected to damage or

• An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely
necessary. Use of improper extension cord could result in

• Do not attempt to open the light. There are no customer
serviceable parts inside.
• DO NOT incinerate the light or batteries even if they are
severely damaged or completely worn out. The batteries
can explode in a fire. Toxic fumes and materials are
created when lithium ion battery packs are burned.
• Do not charge or use battery in explosive atmospheres,
such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or
dust. Inserting or removing the battery from the charger
may ignite the dust or fumes.
• If battery contents come into contact with the skin,
immediately wash area with mild soap and water. If
battery liquid gets into the eye, rinse water over the
open eye for three minutes or until irritation ceases. If

Accessories
WARNING: Since accessories, other than those offered
by BLACK+DECKER, have not been tested with this
product, use of such accessories with this product
could be hazardous. To reduce the risk of injury, only
BLACK+DECKER recommended accessories should be
used with thisproduct.
There are no accessories for this product.
Cleaning
WARNING: Never use solvents or other harsh
chemicals for cleaning the non-metallic parts of the
tool. These chemicals may weaken the plastic materials
used in these parts. Use a cloth dampened only with
water and mild soap. Never let any liquid get inside the
tool; never immerse any part of the tool into aliquid.
MAINTENANCE
Your BLACK+DECKER product has been designed to operate
over a long period of time with a minimum of maintenance.
Continuous satisfactory operation depends upon proper care
and regularcleaning.
Positioning Snake Light® (Fig. D)
WARNING: For reading and similar activities, wearing
the light over the neck with the light in a U-shape is
acceptable. Do not wrap the light around the neck to
avoid strangulation hazard.
Snake Light® allows you to position light where you need it.
• Bend and twist the coil 3 into the desired position to
hang or place the light where it is needed.
On/Off Button (Fig. C)
1. To turn on the directional light module 4 , press the
power button 1 .
2. To turn the flood light on, press the power button again.
-To change the flood light intensity from low to high,
press and hold the power button – after 3 seconds,
the light intensity will change. The flood light will
blink once to indicate the operation is complete.
-To change the flood light intensity from high to low,
press and hold the power button – after 3 seconds,
the light intensity will change. The flood light will
blink once to indicate the operation is complete
3. To turn it off, press the power button.
NOTE: At low battery, the flood light will flash 3-5 times
every 3-5minutes.
OPERATION
CAUTION: Do not stare into the LEDs. Serious eye
injury couldresult.
Charging Procedure (Fig.B)
IMPORTANT: The battery in your light is not fully charged at
the factory. Before attempting to charge the light, thoroughly
read all of the safety instructions.
• Open the rubber seal 5 to expose the charging port 6 .
• Align the charging cord 7 with the charging port in back
of the light and insert it.
• Plug the charger into wall charger or a port of a charging
device (such as laptop).
• The charging LED 1 will be red while the battery is
charging. The charging LED will turn green when fully
charged.
• The light is not packaged with a full battery charge. Let
the light charge initially for up to 4 hours.
NOTE: Recharge discharged batteries as soon as possible
after use or battery life may be greatly diminished. for
longest battery life, do not discharge batteries fully. It is
recommended that the batteries be recharged after each use.
WARNING: Fire hazard. When disconnecting the
charger from the light, be sure to unplug the charger
from the outlet first, then disconnect the charger cord
from the light.
Important Charging Notes
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of damage to the
batteries, NEVER charge them in an air temperature
below 40°F (4,5°C) or above 105°F (40,5°C). Also, NEVER
charge them if the battery temperature is below 40°F
(4,5°C) or above 105°F (40,5°C). Longest life and best
performance occurs when batteries are charged with
an air temperature of approximately 75°F (24°C).
1. While charging, the charger may hum and become warm
to touch. This is a normal condition and does not indicate
a problem.
2. The light should be recharged when it fails to produce
sufficient light while being used. Battery life may be greatly
diminished if batteries are discharged deeply. DO NOT
CONTINUE using product with its batteries in a depleted
condition. Recharge discharged batteries promptly.
3. To maximize battery life:
a. Do not fully discharge batteries.
b. Fully recharge batteries after each use.
• Pull by the plugs rather than the cord when
disconnecting the cable. This will reduce the risk of
damage to the plugs andcord.
• Make sure that the cord is located so that it will not
be stepped on, tripped over or otherwise subjected to
damage orstress.
• DO NOT use a cable with a damaged cord orplugs.
Have them replacedimmediately.
• Foreign materials of a conductive nature, such as, but
not limited to, grinding dust, metal chips, steel wool,
aluminum foil or any buildup of metallic particles
should be kept away from the plugs and port.
• Always unplug the cable from the power supply when
there is no tool attached toit.
c. Store light in a location where the surrounding air
temperature is approximately 40°F - 75°F (4.5°C - 24°C).
d. Disconnect charger from light after charge is complete.

• Avant d’utiliser le chargeur de piles, lire toutes les

• Ne pas démonter ou ouvrir, laisser tomber (abus
mécanique), écraser, plier ou déformer, perforer ou
déchiqueter.

ou à d’autres liquides, ou l’exposer au feu, à une chaleur

• Ne pas court-circuiter une pile ou permettre à des objets

Règles de sécurité supplémentaires pour
les lampes à main
• Ne pas immerger la lampe portable dans tout liquide.
• Ne pas laver la lampe ou le bloc-piles avec de l’eau ou
laisser de l’eau pénétrer à l’intérieur du bloc-piles.
• Ne jamais faire fonctionner sans l’assemblage de lentille e place.
CONSIGNES IMPORTANTES DE SÉCURITÉ
