1.1 Explanation of symbols
Warnings
Inwarnings,signalwordsat thebeginning ofa warning areused
to indicate the type and seriousness of the ensuing risk if
measures for minimising danger are not taken.
The following signal words are defined and can be used in this
document:
DANGER
DANGER indicates that severe or life-threatening personal
injury will occur.
WARNING
WARNING indicates that severe to life-threatening personal
injury may occur.
CAUTION
CAUTION indicates that minor to medium personal injury may
occur.
NOTICE
NOTICE indicates that material damage may occur.

1.2 General safety instructions
1.2.1 Safety instructions
Read this user manual carefully before using the appliance and
save it for future reference.
Danger
• Do not clean the appliance with any flammable liquid or
detergent. Do not spill any liquid on the appliance, to avoid
electric shock, fire hazard and/or damage in the internal
structure of the filter.
• Do not spray any flammable materials such as insecticides,
alcohol or fragrance near the appliance.
Warning
• Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance
corresponds to the local power voltage before connecting
the appliance.
• Make sure the power cord is not running across highly
trafficked areas to prevent fraying, overheating, and
tripping.
• If the power cord, or any other working component of the
appliance is damaged, have it replaced immediately by a
Bosch authorized technician.
• Do not use the appliance if the plug, the power cord, or the
appliance itself is damaged.
• Operation, cleaning and maintenance of the appliance
must be performed by adults.
• Do not block the air inlet and outlet, e.g., by placing items
on the air outlet or in front of the air inlet.
• Make surethat foreign objects do not fall into the appliance
through the air outlet.
• Do not heat up the appliance, to avoid device damage or fire
hazard.
Caution
• The appliance is designed for use in residential indoor
applications, under normal operating conditions.
• Always place and use the appliance on a dry, stable,
levelled, and horizontal surface.
• Do not sit or stand on the appliance. Do not place anything
on top of the appliance.
• Avoid hitting the appliance (the air inlet and outlet in
particular) with hard objects.

• Do not insert your fingers or objects in the air outlet or the
air inlet, to prevent physical injury or malfunctioning of the
appliance.
• Do not touch the swinging air outlet flap. It may damp the
fingers and damage the driving parts of the flap.
• Do not pull the appliance by the cord.
• Do not move the appliance unless the power has been cut
off and the power cord is tied to the bending and winding
column.
• Ducts connected to an appliance shall not contain an
ignition source.
• If the appliance is blocked, have it checked immediately by
a Bosch authorized technician.
• Do not use the appliance when smoking indoors, have used
insecticides, disinfectant, or in places with oily residues,
burning incense, or chemical fumes.
• Do not use the appliance near gas appliances, heating
devices or fireplaces.
• Make sure to unplug the appliance when you want to move
it, clean it, replace the filter or carry out other maintenance.
• Supervise children to ensure that they do not play with the
appliance.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities (including
children),or lackof experienceand knowledge, unlessthey
have been given supervision or instruction concerning the
use of the appliance by a person responsible for their
safety.
• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years
and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or
mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, if

regularly to ensure full cooling capacity.
Intended use of the appliance
The appliance is intended to be used indoors only. This
appliance must be used exclusively in domestic environment
and for the intended purpose for which it was designed.
Any other useis considered improper and therefore hazardous.
Any damage that may result from misuse is excluded from
liability. The manufacturer shall not be held liable for any
damage caused by improper, erroneous and irresponsible use,
and/or due to repairs made by unqualified personnel.
HGeneral dangers posed by the refrigerant
▶ This appliance is filled with refrigerant R290. If the
refrigerant gas isleaked and exposed to an external ignition
source, there is a risk of fire.
▶ Do not to let any other substance than the specified
refrigerant (R290) into the refrigerant cycle.
HSpecial qualifications for refrigerant R290
Action requiring the product to be opened must only be taken
by personnel with knowledge of the properties of and risks
associated with the refrigerant R290.
Work on the refrigerant circuit and involving equipment with
flammable refrigerants requires special training in addition to
standard repair procedures for refrigerant equipment.

3.5 Product identification
Data plate
The data plate contains performance data, approval data and
the serial number of the product.
The data plate can be found on the backside of the product.
3.6 Noise information
In order for the appliance to work, it produces some noises that
are considered normal and should, therefore, be known by the
user.
Rushing air sound
At the top of the appliance, a sound of rushing air being moved
by the fan can be heard.
Gurgle/hiss
A quiet gurgling or hissing noise is normal during operation.
This is caused by the flow of refrigerant.
High-pitched sound
High efficient compressors may produce high-pitched sound
during air conditioning operation.
However, if the appliance vibrates and makes noise due to the
vibration, ensure the appliance is positioned in a levelled floor.
4 Installation
4.1 Installation site
• The appliance should be installed and operated in a room
with a floor area larger than 12 m².
• Theapplianceshallbe installedin anaccessible locationfor
installation, repair and maintenance works.
• Make sure the installation site can bear the weight of the
appliance and vibrations.
• Make sure the area is well ventilated.
• Make sure the appliance is stable and level to minimize
noise and vibration.
• Maintain a minimum distance of 60 cm from walls and
obstacles.
• Do not cover the air inlets and outlets of the appliance.
• Avoid places subject to noise and resonance.
• Avoid places subject to strong artificial electric/magnetic
fields.
• Avoid severe natural conditions (e.g. heavy lampblack,
strong sandy wind, direct sunshine or high temperature
heat sources).
• The ambient temperature shall range between 16-35°C.
• Protect the room from direct exposure to the sun by
partially closing curtains and/or blinds to make the
appliance more efficient.
• Avoid places of inflammable or explosive gas leakage or
where there are strong aggressive gases.
• The plug should be easily accessible after installation.
4.2 Handling the integrated exhaust hose
The exhaust hose is integrated on the back of the appliance to
allow a hassle-free handling and convenient storage.In air
conditioningmodes and, ifrequired,in dehumidificationmode,
the exhaust air hose must be used to let the hot air out.
• To extend the hose, pull it upwards to the desired length.
• To bring it back to the initial position, push it downwards.

Do not arbitrarily bend or stretch the exhaust hose. This will
affect the cooling efficiency. However, the hose can be
moderately compressed and tensed according to the actual
installation needs.
The hose can be compressed to 300 mm minimum and
extended up to1500 mmmaximum. Itis recommendedto keep
the hose length to a minimum length.

4.3 Casement window
1. Position the exhaust hose outside the window to let the hot
air out.

1. Depending on the need, cut the self-adhesivefoamstrips to
the desired length and attach them to the window sash and
frame.

2. Position the extendible window slider on the window and
fully extend it inside the window frame.
For the hungwindow, the portionof the window slider withthe
greater depth should be placed along the bottom.
For the sliding window, the hole should be in the lower part to
allow a correct installation of the exhaust hose.
3. Adjust the extendible window slider depending on the
window size and fix the length by tighten the screws.
If the extendible window slider is too large, it is possible to cut
the plastic using a saw. This operation must be carried out by a
qualified professional.

4. Depending on the need, cut the non-adhesive foam strip to
the desired length and seal the open gap between the glass
and the window frame.

5.1.4 Switching ON/OFF
▶ Insert the plug of the appliance in the power socket.
▶ Press to switch on the appliance.
The appliance starts operating in the same mode and settings
as when it was turned off.
▶ Press the button to put the appliance in stand-by.
Note
• For optimum performance of the appliance, leave a door/
window slightly open (as little as 1 cm) to guarantee proper
ventilation.
• Keep curtains away from the air inlet or air outlet.
• Never turn off the appliance by simply pulling the plug.
• Press the button in order to put your appliance in stand-
by and wait a few minutes before pulling the plug. In this
manner, the appliance can perform the operating status
checks.
• If you turn the appliance off and immediately restart it,
allowfourminutesforthecompressortorestart. Thereis an
electronic device in the appliance that keeps the
compressor turned off for four minutes for safety.
Auto restart
If the appliance shuts off unexpectedly due to a power outage,
it will restart with the previously set function automatically
whenthe powerresumes.The compressorwill restartafter four
minutes.
5.1.5 Smart cool select modes
The appliance has three automated air conditioning modes
(Auto, Silent and Sleep mode).
Auto mode
• In Auto mode, the appliance automatically controls and
adjusts the cooling performance in accordance to the
desired (selected) temperature and the environmental
conditions.
• To Select the Auto mode, press the button. The display
will show the temperature to be reached. To change the
desired temperature press the or button.
• In this mode, the air exhaust hose must be used to let the
hot air out.

Silent mode
• In Silent mode, the appliances operates quietly at the
lowest possible noise level, while automatically controls
and adjusts the cooling performance in accordance to the
desired (selected) temperature and the environmental
conditions.
• To select the Silent mode, press the button. The display
will show the temperature to be reached. To change the
desired temperature press the or button.
• In this mode, the air exhaust hose must be used to let the
hot air out.
Sleep mode
• The Sleep mode will give you an undisturbed and
comfortable sleep. The appliance operates quietly in a
special sleep program and the lights of the control panel
will be switched off 5 seconds after the mode is selected.
• To select the Sleep mode, press the button. The display
will show the temperature to be reached. To change the
desired temperature press the or button.
• After the Sleep mode is activated, the desired (selected)
temperaturewill increaseby1°C 60minutesafterthe mode
is selected, and by another 1°C after an additional 60
minutes. This new temperature will be automatically
maintained for 6 hours before it returns to the originally
selected temperature in Auto mode.
• In this mode, the exhaust hose must be used to let the hot
air out.
5.1.6 Standard modes
Air conditioning mode
This mode is ideal for hot and humid weather when the room
needs to be cooled down.
• In Air conditioning mode, the desired temperature and the
fan speed can be selected.
• To correctly set this mode, press repeatedly the button
until the indicator lights up. The display will show the
temperature to be reached. To change the desired
temperature press the or button. To select the
desired fan speed, press repeatedly the button. The
available air flows are:
– Minimum air flow: for silent operation.
– Medium air flow: for a good balance between noise and
cooling performance
– Maximum air flow: for maximum cooling performance
and fast cool down.
• In this mode, the exhaust hose must be used to let the hot
air out.
The most suitable temperatures during the summer range from
24 to 27°C. It is recommended to set the desired indoor
temperature no less than 6°C below the outdoor temperature.
On particularly hot days the temperature difference can be
increased, but should not exceed 10°C.
Dehumidification mode
Thismodeis idealforreducinghumidityin theroom(springand
autumn, humid rooms, rainy periods, laundry drying, etc.).
• To correctly set this mode, press repeatedly the button
until the dehumidification indicator appears.
• The fan speed cannot be selected. The appliance will
automatically select the best air flow.
• The display will show the room temperature.
• Keep doors and windows closed to achieve the best
dehumidifying effect.
For dehumidification purposes, it is not required to use the
exhaust hose to let the hot air out. However, if a cooling effect is
also desired, it is recommended to attach the exhaust hose to
let the hot air out.
This appliance is provided with an auto-evaporation feature for
condensate removal during air conditioning and
dehumidification mode.
Note: in case of high ambient humidity, it is possible to drain
the condensate continuously by applying the hose supplied to
the upper drainage hose (Chapter 6.3.1 "Continuous
drainage", Page 18).
Fan mode
• To correctly set this mode, press repeatedly the button
until the fan indicator lights on. To select the desired air
flow, press repeatedly the button. The available air
flows are:
– Minimum air flow: for silent operation.
– Medium air flow: for a good balance between noise and
air flow.
– Maximum air flow: for maximum air flow.
• The display will show the room temperature.

5.1.7 Swing function
This function moves the air outlet flap on the top panel up and
downtoevenlydistribute the air intotheroom.Thefunction can
be activated in each mode.
• Press the button to enable the swing function. The air
outlet flap will begin to move up and down alternatively.
• If the button is pressed again, the flap will be locked into
its current position.
• If the button is pressed again, the flap will start to move
up and down again.
Note: in order to avoid damaging the internal mechanism, do
not move the flap manually!
5.2 Operating the remote controller
5.2.1 Battery installation/replacement
▶ Push to slide the battery cover at the back of the remote
controller downwards.
▶ Lift up from the lower end of the battery cover to open it.

▶ Install or replace the two AAA batteries according to the
positive and negative polarities indicated.

▶ Close the battery cover.
▶ Slide the battery cover back into place.
5.2.2 Handling of the remote controller
▶ Direct the transmitting part of the remote controller to the
receiving part of the appliance, located in the upper part of
the front panel.
If something blocks the transmission and reception path of the
appliance and the remote controller, such as curtains for
example, it does not work.
The transmission distance is approx. 5 m.
NOTICE
▶ Do not drop or get the remote controller wet.
▶ Never press the buttons of the remote controller with a
hard, pointed object.

5.2.5 Switching ON/OFF

Auto restart
If the appliance shuts off unexpectedly due to a power outage,
it will restart with the previously set function automatically
when the powerresumes. Thecompressor will restart afterfour
minutes.
5.2.6 Smart cool select modes
The appliance has three automated air conditioning modes
(Auto, Silent and Sleep mode).
Auto mode
• In Auto mode, the appliance automatically controls and
adjusts the cooling performance in accordance to the
desired (selected) temperature and the environmental
conditions.
• To Select the Auto mode, press the button. The display
will show the temperature to be reached. To change the
desired temperature press the or button.
• In this mode, the air exhaust hose must be used to let the
hot air out.
Silent mode
• In Silent mode, the appliances operates quietly at the
lowest possible noise level, while automatically controls
and adjusts the cooling performance in accordance to the
desired (selected) temperature and the environmental
conditions.
• To select the Silent mode, press the button. The display
will show the temperature to be reached. To change the
desired temperature press the or button.
• In this mode, the air exhaust hose must be used to let the
hot air out.
Sleep mode
• The Sleep mode will give you an undisturbed and
comfortable sleep. The appliance operates quietly in a
special sleep program and the lights of the control panel
will be switched off 5 seconds after the mode is selected.
• To select the Sleep mode, press the button. The display
will show the temperature to be reached. To change the
desired temperature press the or button.
• After the Sleep mode is activated, the desired (selected)
temperature willincreaseby1°C 60minutesafterthe mode
is selected, and by another 1°C after an additional 60
minutes. This new temperature will be automatically
maintained for 6 hours before it returns to the originally
selected temperature in Auto mode.
• In this mode, the exhaust hose must be used to let the hot
air out.
5.2.7 Standard modes
Air conditioning mode
This mode is ideal for hot and humid weather when the room
needs to be cooled down.
• In Air conditioning mode, the desired temperature and the
fan speed can be selected.
• To correctly set this mode, press repeatedly the button
until COOL appears on the display. The display will show
the temperature to be reached. To change the desired
temperature press the or button. To select the
desired fan speed, press repeatedly the button. The
available air flows are:
– Minimum air flow: for silent operation.
– Medium air flow: for a good balance between noise and
cooling performance
– Maximum air flow: for maximum cooling performance
and fast cool down.
• In this mode, the exhaust hose must be used to let the hot
air out.
The most suitable temperatures during the summer range from
24 to 27°C. It is recommended to set the desired indoor
temperature no less than 6°C below the outdoor temperature.
On particularly hot days the temperature difference can be
increased, but should not exceed 10°C.
Dehumidification mode
Thismode isideal forreducinghumidity in the room(springand
autumn, humid rooms, rainy periods, laundry drying, etc.).
• To correctly set this mode, press repeatedly the button
until DRY appears on the display.
• The fan speed cannot be selected. The appliance will
automatically select the best air flow.
• The display will show the room temperature.
• Keep doors and windows closed to achieve the best
dehumidifying effect.
For dehumidification purposes, it is not required to use the
exhaust hose to let the hot air out. However, if a cooling effect is
also desired, it is recommended to attach the exhaust hose to
let the hot air out.

This appliance is provided with an auto-evaporation feature for
condensate removal during air conditioning and
dehumidification mode.
Note: in case of high ambient humidity, it is possible to drain
the condensate continuously by applying the hose supplied to
the upper drainage hose (Chapter 6.3.1 "Continuous
drainage", Page 18).
Fan mode
• To correctly set this mode, press repeatedly the button
until FAN appears on the display. To select the desired air
flow, press repeatedly the button. The available air
flows are:
– Minimum air flow: for silent operation.
– Medium air flow: for a good balance between noise and
air flow.
– Maximum air flow: for maximum air flow.
• The display will show the room temperature.
5.2.8 Swing function
This function moves the air outlet flap on the top panel up and
down to evenly distribute the air into the room. The function can
be activated in each mode.
• Press the button to enable the swing function. The air
outlet flap will begin to move up and down alternatively.
• If the button is pressed again, the flap will be locked into
its current position.
• If the button is pressed again, the flap will start to move
up and down again.
Note: in order to avoid damaging the internal mechanism, do
not move the flap manually!
5.2.9 Timer function
The timer allows the delayed start-up or shut-down of the
appliance.
Delayed start-up
While the appliance is in standby, delayed start up can be
programmed.
▶ Press the button.
HOUR ON and 0.5 will be displayed.
▶ Press or hold the or button until the desired
numbers of hours (0.5 hour increments between 0.5 and
10h and 1 hour increments between 10h and 24h) to start-
up appear on the display.
▶ Press the button again within 10 seconds to set the
timer.
If the button is not pressed within 10 seconds, the
timer setting will be exited.
After the timer function is enabled, the display shows back
the time and the previously set settings. After the timer
function is enabled, the settings (Mode, Fan speed, Swing)
can be changed. Sleep mode cannot be selected.Once the
set time is elapsed, the appliance will start-up in the
previously set settings.
▶ To cancel the timer program, press the button again.
Delayed shut-down
While the appliance is on in any operating mode, delayed shut
down can be programmed.
▶ Press the button.
HOUR OFF and 0.5 will be displayed.
▶ Press or hold the or button until the desired
numbers of hours (0.5 hour increments between 0.5 and
10h and 1h increments between 10h and 24h) to shut-
down appear on the display.
▶ Press the “timer” button again (within 10 seconds) to set
thetimer.Ifthe buttonis notpressedwithin10seconds,
the timer setting will be exited.
After the timer function is enabled, the display shows the
operating mode/settings and the timer symbol stays lit.
Once the set time is elapsed, the appliance goes into
standby.
▶ To cancel the timer program, press the button again.
5.2.10 Temperature scale selection
The temperature can be displayed in °C or °F.
▶ To changethetemperatureunit ofmeasure, pressthe °C/F°
button.
The selected scale °C or °F will appear on the display of the
controller and on the control panel.

5.2.11 Storing of the remote control
The remote control can be stored safely at the back of the
appliance. The integrated magnet is holding it into place.

6 Cleaning and maintenance
Before cleaning or maintenance, turn the appliance off by
pressing the button, then unplug the power supply cable.
6.1 Cleaning the housing
The appliance shall be cleaned with an oil-free cloth or a slightly
dampcloth (damped with waterora solution of warm water and
mild liquid detergent). Then, it should be dried with a dry cloth.
Be sure to wring excess water from the cloth before wiping
around the controls.Excess water in or around the controlsmay
cause damage to the appliance.
For safety reasons, never wash the appliance with water.
CAUTION
▶ Never use harsh cleaners, petrol, alcohol, solvents, wax or
polish to clean the appliance.
▶ Never spray insecticide liquids or similar.
6.2 Cleaning the filter
To maintain the efficiency of the appliance, it is recommended
toclean thedust filtersregularly. The frequencydepends onthe
duration and conditions of operation. If the appliance is used
frequently, it is recommended to clean the filters every 2
weeks.
Upper filter removal
The upper filter is integrated in the upper grid.
▶ To remove, simply push the grid out of the housing. Then,
pull it vertically up.

Lower filter removal
The lower filter is located behind the lower grid.
▶ Remove the screw located on the upper part of the grid.
▶ Remove the grid and pull the filter gently out of the grid.

▶ Use a vacuum cleaner to remove any dust.
▶ If it is extremely dirty, submerge it in warm water and rinse
it several times. Mild detergent can also be used, if
necessary.

The water temperature must be kept below 40° C.
▶ Gently shake excess water from the filter.
▶ Make sure the filter is thoroughly dry before putting it back
on the appliance.
▶ Reinstall the filter in reverse order of removal. Put the grid
back in its housing.
6.3 Draining the appliance
This appliance is provided with an auto-evaporation feature for
condensate removal during air conditioning and
dehumidification mode.
6.3.1 Continuous drainage
If required (e.g. in case of high ambient humidity), it is possible
to drain the condensate continuously by applying the hose
supplied to the upper drainage outlet. To do so follow the steps
below:
▶ Remove the cap from the upper drainage outlet turning it
counter-clockwise.
▶ Remove the plug.
Make sure the water does not overflow onto the floor and the
drainage tube is not obstructed.

▶ Attach the drain hose to the hole.
▶ Place the other end of the hose in the drainage recipient or
other drain area.

Be sure to reinstall the plug and cap firmly to prevent leakage
before using the appliance.
6.3.2 Draining the internal tank
The appliance is equipped with an internal tank which is
collecting excess condensate. When the water level of the
internaltankreachespredeterminedlevel,thedisplaywill show
“FL”.
To empty the tank follow the steps below.
▶ Remove the cap from the lower drainage outlet turning it
counter clockwise.
▶ Remove the plug.

▶ Drain the water completely into a drip tray or other
recipient.

▶ When it is completely drained, place the plug and cap on
the outlet, making sure they are completely closed.
▶ Restart the appliance.
Be sure to reinstall the bottom drain caps firmly to prevent
leakage before using the appliance.
7 Moving and storage
Transporting, loading, cleaning, recovery and disposal of the
refrigerant must only be performed by technical service
centres authorized by the manufacturing company. The
appliance must only be disposed of by specialized personnel.
Moving
• Use two hands to hold the appliance when moving it.
• Hold the handles on both sides of the appliance to keep the
appliance stable during transportation.
• Never transport or turn the appliance upside down or on its
side.
If the latter occurs, wait at least 6 hours (24h is recommended)
before turning the appliance on. After the appliance has been
on its side, oil needs to return to the compressor to ensure
properfunction.Withoutallowing the appliance thistime (6-24
hours), the appliance may function for only a short time, and
then the compressor will break down from lack of oil.
Storage (end of season)
If the appliance will not be used for an extended period of time:
▶ Completely drain the water from the internal circuit
(Chapter 6.3.2 "Draining the internal tank", Page 19).
▶ Remove and clean the filters, allow them to dry completely,
then reinstall it (Chapter 6.2 "Cleaning the filter",
Page 17).
▶ Store the appliance in a cool, dry location, away from direct
sunlight, extreme temperature, excessive dust, and well
ventilated.
Start of the season
After being stored, if you wish to use the appliance for the start
of the season:
▶ Make sure the power cable and socket are in perfect
condition and the earthing system is efficient.
▶ Makesurethe filtersand draincaps arein place andthat the
filters are cleaned.
▶ Install the appliance as described in this manual.
