Flo-Star Liner Cap
Assembly Instructions for use with Standard
and Light-Weight Visi-Shell Weights
Introduction
The Bou-Matic® Flo-Star™ liner cap adapts the
Visi-Shell for use with the Flo-Star liner. The cap
must be assembled to the shell weight before the
liner can be assembled.
The information within this instruction packet is
intended to aid both the dealer and the dairyman in
theassemblyoftheFlo-StarlinercapandVisi-Shell
weight. Read the instructions carefully before
assemblingandusingtheequipmenttoensureproper
assembly.
The dairyman is responsible for maintaining and
monitoringtheequipmenttoensurethatitfunctions
properly.
Step 2
Placethecupoverthecap,openenddown,andpushthe
cap over the cone until the cap snaps over the shell
weight.(SeeFigure2.)Then,pulltheconeoutofthecap.
Step 1
Place the shell weight, knurled end up, on a table or
workbench. Then,place theconeinside theweight, and
push the cap onto the cone, as shown in Figure 1.
Assembly Instructions
No tools are required for this cap and weight
assembly, however, the cup and cone (#8514062)
will ease assembly, and the teat cup assembler
(#8511810) along with the cap tool adapter
(#8514063,whichincludes8514062)makeassembly
easier. These tools are available from Bou-Matic.
To assemble the liner cap without tools, begin
stretching the small end of the cap over the knurl of
theshellweight. Holdthisportioninplaceandwork
yourwayaroundtheweightuntilthecapcompletely
coverstheknurl. (Youmaywanttoimmersethecap
inhotwatertomakeitmorepliablebeforeassembly.)
Toassembletheliner cap by hand using the cupand
cone, use the following procedure:

Toassemblethelinercapusingtheteatcupassembler,
use the following procedure:
Step 1
Bolt the teat cup assembler to a sturdy surface. Step 2
Removethewire cage and plunger fromthe assembler.
Then, assemble the cap tool adapter and cup to the
assembler, as shown in Figure 3.

Step 6
Positionthecupagainstthecap(seeFigure4),anddrive
the cap onto the shell weight using the tool handle.
Step 7
Withdrawthecup, remove theshellweight from thetool,
and pull the cone out of the cap.
Step 4
Positiontheshellweightoverthesupportpostonthecap
tooladapter,aligningthekeyontheweightwithaflatside
of the post.
Step 5
Pressthesmallendofthecapoverthenarrowendofthe
cone. Then, insert the cone into the shell weight.
Step 3
Advance the cup over the support post on the cap tool
adapter, and check to see that the cup is properly
centeredaroundthepost. Ifanadjustmentisnecessary,
loosenthescrewholding theposttothesupport bracket,
reposition the post, and tighten the screw. Then, check
thecupandpostagain. Ifnecessary,shimorfilebetween
the cap tool adapter bracket and the assembler.
