Generates the gas stream in the system. 100% re-
commended, so efficient drying and best separation
is obtained.
For aqueous solutions, inlet temperatures are between
100 and 220°C. Lower range for heat sensitive product.
Typical set point 150°C.
By opening the needle valve on the flow control, the
compressed air for the feed dispersion is set. Typical
level is 4 cm (approx. 600 l/h).
Close peristaltic pump bed. The process is started
with pure water to get the drying conditions . The outlet
temp. will decrease due to the consumption of energy
by the evaporation.
Typical set point of pump 30%.
The outlet temp. defines the maximal thermal load for
the product. Adjust inlet temp. and pump rate to obtain
a certain outlet temp. Lowering the aspirator rate will
also decrease the outlet temp.
In case of suspensions or product which tend to clog
the nozzle, the nozzle cleaning is switched on. Higher
number (2-9) means more cleaning pushes.
The spray drying starts as soon as the tube is switched
from pure water to product (by feed switch valve or
manually). The outlet temp. will slightly increase becau-
se less water has to be evaporated, eventually adjust
inlet temp.
Switch back to pure water to clean tube and nozzle.
Additional cleaning effect by drawing air bubbles.

Inert Loop starts to cool, both signal lamps are on (after
20 sec.). When starting the aspirator, pressure signal
lights off: gas stream is circulating. 100% recommen-
ded for efficient drying and best separation in cyclone.
The set cooling temperature depends upon the solvent
used. For boiling point <70°, -20° is recommended, for
pure water, 10° must not be fallen below.
Nitrogen is fed into the cycle and the same volume is
leaving the system by the exhaust tube. The level of
oxygen is decreasing. If not, check tightness to find
leakage.
The system is now under inert condi-tions; heater is
started. The procedure is equal as on the back side.
Inlet temp. approx. + 10°C above boiling point of sol-
vent.
Pure solvent is used to get the drying conditions. High-
er pump rates can be used, typical set point is 60%.
In case of suspensions or product which tend to clog
the nozzle, the nozzle cleaning is switched on. Higher
number (2-9) means more cleaning pushes.
The spray drying starts as soon as the tube is swit-
ched from solvent to product (by feed switch valve or
manually).
At the end of the process, switch back to pure solvent
to clean tube and nozzle. Additional cleaning effect by
air bubbles.
Empty receiving bottle in Inert Loop B-295.
