your fingers to start all screws

MAKING CUTS
Caution! Wear hand and eye protection while operating your shear.
Push the handle down until the
material is completely cut.
Most materials listed on page 7 shear cleanly with just one cut. However, some types of laminate ooring and
thick resilient tile may require cutting twice to produce a better cut.
DOUBLE CUTTING: Simply make your rst cut 1/8” to 1/4” (3mm to 6mm) longer than your mark and
then make a second cut on your mark. This is very useful to create a cleaner cut on exposed ends or when you
cannot cover the cut edge with molding or trim.
3
DO NOT USE ON HIGH PRESSURE LAMINATE OR SOLID WOOD!
Unlock safety lock by sliding knob over
and down.
1
Place product on table. Bring
handle down until blade
touches material.
Using the Wall Gauge
RCT Shears are equipped with casters set in-line with the blade for quick
cuts along a wall. To use the caster “wall gauge”:
1) Set your shear on the last full tile row and slide it so the left-right aligned
casters drop o the tile and onto the substrate.
2) Pull the shear away from the wall until the casters are touching the last
row of full tiles.
3) Place a new tile under the blade and slide it forward until it just touches
the wall.
4) Make your cut* and roll the shear to the next spot.
5) Drop your freshly cut tile into place.
*Some designer tiles should be cut upside-down.
Cut Line
You can use the caster system to align product
to a wall without having to measure each tile.

MAINTENANCE
Greasing / Lubricating
After every 100 cuts, lubricate the wear points of the
pins and the bearings as shown. Use a light oil (i.e. 10W
motor oil). This will prevent the machine from wearing
out prematurely. Apply grease (wheel bearing grease)
frequently to the bearings where indicated.

Honing the Blade
Hone every 100 cuts
Push the handle down until blade is 1/4” (6mm) open.
Lay the hone stone against the at face of the blade
(side toward the table). Slide from end to end 2 or 3
times.
Adjusting the Blade
Your shear is equipped with adjustment "jack"
screws for ne tuning the angle of your blade or
compensating for small blades (Blades get smaller
every time they are re-sharpened). To tilt your
blade, turn the machine upside down - loosen
(but don't remove) the blade screws. Adjust the
jack screws to desired position with 5/32" or 4mm
Allen wrench.
Jack Screws
(Table Side)
Sharpening the blade
The blade can be sharpened to restore a one-side, 21º - 22º knife edge. It is important to note that the blade
must be sharpened only on the beveled side, leaving the at side at.
Beveled Side
Flat Side
We recommend that power grinding only be done professionally, as the blade must be fluid cooled during this process.
The Blade Stop
The blade stop may become worn. Remove anvil, turn blade stop over for more use. Replacements can be
purchased at your dealer.

6
Cutting Depth
You may need to adjust the height of the blade to cut all the way
through your product. You can do this by:
Adjusting the Stop Screw
1. Loosen the stop screw nut and turn stop screw until it is loose.
Release handle to open blade.
2. Push the handle down until the blade is resting on the "blade stop"
3. Adjust stop screw until it makes contact with the power assembly.

Backstroke Stop
To cut approved products over 3/4" (19mm) thick,
loosen Phillips head screw on the Backstroke
Stop; turn the Backstroke Stop 180º and tighten
screw. For more convenience when cutting
thinner products, restore factory setting.

or 19mm

The Anvil
The Anvil has two edges: a 1/32" (0.75mm) narrow
edge and a 3/16" (4.5mm) wide edge. Either edge
can be used according to the support needed to
make a clean cut. (Some soft-backed products
require the wider anvil edge).

1) Loosen (but do not remove) the three phillips screws which
secure the fence.
2) Rotate the fence to the desired angle.
3) Re-tighten the three phillips screws.
