1.1 GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- Please verify that the product is complete and free from any damage.
- It is the customer’s responsibility to select an appropriate valve for the
application, ensure the unit is installed correctly and maintain the components.
- This product should only be installed and repaired by specialist staff using the
correct tools.
- Please observe the relevant safety regulations throughout the operation,
maintenance and repair of the product.
- If these instructions are ignored, no liability will be accepted and the guarantee
on the device and accessories will be invalid.
If the valve is used with dangerous fluids, insert the valve into the
process according to the legal security standards.
1.2 DESCRIPTION OF THE DIAPHRAGM VALVE
The diaphragm valve 3233, 3234 or 3235 has been designed to control the flow of fluids,
even charged or aggressive.
The compact design of this valve makes it possible to use it in processes where the space
requirement is very small.
This 2/2-way valve is made up of :
- a valve body
- a diaphragm that isolates the fluid from the atmosphere and the mechanical parts
of the top of the valve.
- an hand-operated actuator which makes it possible to control the valve opening.
- an optical position indicator indicating the valve status.

2.1 RECOMMENDATIONS FOR INSTALLING THE VALVE
• Insert the valve into the process according to the standard
industrial practices (preferably according to ASME or DIN 11850
standards).
• Only tighten the manual actuator by hand!
2.1.1 Before installation
- Carefully clean the pipes.
- Remove all the pressures and tensible forces exerted on the valve by the pipes.
2.1.2 During installation
- Ensure the pipes are aligned.
- If the valve body must be welded onto the pipes, dismantle the valve (see § 4.2)
to separate the actuator and the diaphragm from the body to prevent them from
any damage.
- Preferably improve the surface quality by grinding the weldings.
- Carefully clean the body before mounting back the actuator and the diaphragm
(see § 4.2).
2.1.3 Installation of the valve 3233 for self-draining
- Incline the valve of 15° to 30° (depending on the DN) with respect to the
horizontal (see figure below)
- Install the pipes with a 3 to 5% minimum gradient in the direction of flow.
During the assembling of the valve in self draining position, the leakage detection hole
must be at the lowest point.
Self-draining in a process system is ultimately the responsibility of the
system designer and/or end user.

2.1.4 Installation of a tank outlet valve 3235
Refer to ASME VIII Division I «Boiler and pressure Vessel code» standard for further
information on tanks and welding recommendations.
We recommend to weld the tank outlet valve before mounting the tank. Nevertheless,
welding valves on mounted tanks remains possible if need be.
- Ensure the tank outlet valve is not in conflict with any other equipment and the
mounting and dismounting of the actuator is always possible.
- Ensure the minimum distance between two weld seams is 3 times the thickness
of the tank wall.
We recommend to weld the valve to the center of the tank outlet to optimize the draining.
- The diameter of the whole in the tank wall must be the same as the diameter of the
flange.
The Bürkert valve has two welding bevels to ease the welding and valve positionning
operations. The welding bevel is about 3 mm long. If the tank thickness is more than
3 mm, position the valve as indicated in the figure below.
Grind the tank outlet wall by hand to prepare the welding operation.
Before welding, ensure the heat number corresponds to the one
indicated on the supplied manufacturer certificate 3.1.B.
- Insert the flange inside the whole so that the surfaces of the flange and the tank outlet
are tangent.
- Tack 4 weld points and check the positionning.
- Weld continuously the internal and external parts by supplying gaz and filler
material compatible with the 316L (DIN 1.4435) stainless steel the valve is made of.
- Cool down the weld seams then polish-grind and clean them according to the current
specifications.
These instructions will help you installing the tank outlet valves and make it possible to
avoid any change in shape and stress release within the tank.
These instructions do not override the country specific legal obligations about the
accreditation of welding operators and the carrying out of welding operations.

3.1 GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS

3.4 VALVE BODY SPECIFICATIONS

• Forged stainless steel (DIN 1.4435 BN2 / 316L according to ASME-BPE
1997).
• Cast stainless steel (316L).

4.1 MAINTENANCE AND STORING
4.1.1 Maintenance and order codes of the spare parts
Regularly check if the diaphragm is not worn. Refer to the table below to have the order
code of the diaphragm corresponding to your valve (CSM diaphragms on request).
If your process uses muddy or abrasive fluids or fluids reaching high
temperatures, the diaphragm must be checked often.
4.1.2 Storing
If the valve is stored for a long time, unscrew the body screws to avoid permanent change
in shape of the diaphragm.

4.2 DISMANTLING THE DIAPHRAGM VALVE
Before dismantling or opening the valve, turn-off the medium and
depressurize the pipes.

- Open the valve until the optical indicator (yellow) is completely let out (till
blocking).
Only turn the handwheel by hand.
- Remove the protection caps from the nuts, if necessary.
- Unscrew the 4 fixing screws in an alternating pattern and remove the handwheel.
- Turn the handwheel a few times so that the diaphragm separates from the body.
- Remove the diaphragm:
• For DN15 and 20, remove the elastomer diaphragm.
• For DN > 20, unscrew the elastomer diaphragm.
• For a PTFE/EPDM diaphragm, turn a quarter turn to release the bayonet.
- Place back the new diaphragm so that the fixing holes are aligned with those of
the diaphragm (screw home if necessary).
- Open the handwheel again (turn until blocking).
- Place back the handwheel and the screws.
- Screw in an alternating pattern until the handwheel is in its proper place, without
tightening.
- Close the valve entirely then open it again completely so that the diaphragm
positions itself correctly.
- Tighten the screws in an alternating pattern to the torque rating (in Nm) specified
below:
For 3A approved products, please use only sterile food grade lubricant
complying with CFR 21 Part 178.3570.

1.1 ALLGEMEINE SICHERHEITSANWEISUNGEN
- Überprüfen Sie bitte, ob das Gerät vollständig und nicht beschädigt ist.
- Für die Auswahl des geeigneten Ventils und für seine korrekte Installation sowie
Wartung ist der Kunde verantwortlich.
- Dieses Gerät sollte nur durch Fachpersonal unter Verwendung adäquater
Werkzeuge installiert bzw. repariert werden.
- Beachten Sie bitte die relevanten Sicherheitsbestimmungen zum Betrieb, zur
Wartung und zur Reparatur des Geräts.
- Wenn diese Anweisungen nicht befolgt werden, wird keinerlei Haftung
übernommen und die Garantie für das Gerät erlischt.
Bei Verwendung in gefährlichen Flüssigkeiten muss der Einbau des
Ventils in den Prozess gemäß den üblichen Sicherheits-Normen
durchgeführt werden.
1.2 BESCHREIBUNG DES MEMBRANVENTILS
Das Membranventil 3233, 3234 oder 3235 dient dazu, den Durchfluss einer Flüssigkeit,
auch abrasive und/oder aggressive Flüssigkeiten, zu stellen.
Seine kompakte Form ist besonders geeignet, wo wenig Platz vorhanden ist.
Das 2/2-Wege-Ventil besteht aus:
- einem Ventilgehäuse.
- einer Membran, die das Medium von der Atmosphäre und den mechanischen
Teilen des Kopfes, trennt.
- einem hand-betätigten Antrieb zur Einstellung der Ventilöffnung.
- einem optischen Stellungsanzeiger zur Anzeige des Ventilstandes.

2.1 HINWEISE FÜR DEN EINBAU DES MEMBRANVENTILS
• Bauen Sie das Ventil in den Prozess gemäß den üblichen Industrie-
Normen ein (vorzugsweise ASME oder DIN 11850).
• Der hand-betätigte Antrieb nur bei Hand festdrehen.
2.1.1 Vor dem Einbau
- Die Rohrleitungen sorgfältig reinigen.
- Druck- und Zugkräfte, die die Rohrleitungen auf das Ventil ausüben, beseitigen.
2.1.2 Während des Einbaus
- Auf fluchtende Rohrleitungen achten.
- Soll das Gehäuse an die Rohrleitung geschweißt werden, das Ventil zuerst
abbauen (siehe § 4.2) und den Antrieb und die Membran vom Gehäuse
entfernen, damit sie keine Beschädigung erleiden.
- Den Oberflächenzustand, vorzugsweise durch Abschleifen, verbessern.
- Das Gehäuse sorgfältig reinigen, bevor der Antrieb und die Membran
zurückgesetzt werden (siehe § 4.2).
2.1.3 Einbau zur Selbstentleerung des Ventils 3233
- Das Ventil um 15-30° (entsprechend der Nennweite) gegenüber der Horizontalen
neigen (siehe folgende Abb.):
- Die Rohrleitungen mit einer Steigung von 3 bis 5% in Strömungsrichtung einbauen.
Beim Einbau des Ventils in Selbstentleerungstellung muss die Bohrung zur Überwachung
der Leckage am tiefsten Punkt sein.
Die korrekte Gestaltung der Selbstentleerung liegt in der Verantwortung
des für den Entwurf der Anlage Zuständigen.

2.1.4 Einbau des Bodenablassventils 3235
Für weitere Informationen über Behälter und Schweißanweisungen, beziehen Sie sich auf
die Norm ASME VIII Division I «Boiler and pressure Vessel code».
Es ist ratsam, das Ventil zu schweißen bevor der Behälter aufgebaut wird. Trotzdem ist es
möglich, die Ventile auf fertig montierte Behälter zu schweißen.
- Vergewissern Sie sich, dass das Bodenablassventil mit keinem anderen
Einrichtungsteil interferiert und dass Auf- und Abbau des Antriebs stets möglich sind.
- Vergewissern Sie sich, dass eine Minimaldistanz zwischen zwei Schweißstellen
von 3 mal die Dicke der Behälterwand eingehalten wird.
Es ist ratsam, das Ventil in der Mitte des Ablasses zu schweißen, damit sich der Behälter
optimal entleert.
- Die Durchmesser des Lochs im Behälter und der Flansch müssen gleich sein.
Das Bürkert-Ventil ist mit zwei Schweißkanten versehen, um die Schweißung und
das Positionieren des Ventils leichter zu machen. Die Schweißkanten sind
ung. 3 mm lang. Sollte die Behälterwand mehr als 3 mm dick sein, muss das
Ventil wie auf folgender Abbildung positioniert werden. Schleifen Sie die
Ablasswand ab, bevor das Ventil eingeschweißt wird.
Prüfen Sie die auf dem gelieferten Hersteller-Zertifikat 3.1.B angege-
benen Chargen-Nummer, bevor Sie mit dem Schweißen beginnen.
- Positionieren Sie die Flansch in das Loch, so dass die Flanschoberfläche mit der
Ablassoberfläche tangierend ist.
- Heften Sie 4 Schweißpunkten, dann prüfen Sie die Position des Ventils.
- Scheißen Sie das Ventil gleichmäßig innerhalb und außerhalb des Behälters ein mit Zufuhr von Gas
und von dem Ventil-Edelstahl 316L (DIN 1.4435) kompatiblen Schweißmaterial.
- Lassen Sie die Schweißungen abkühlen bevor sie gemäß den geltenden
Spezifikationen glanzgeschleift und geputzt werden.
Diese Anweisungen helfen zum Einbau der Bodenablassventile und ermöglichen es,
Formänderungen und Entspannungen innerhalb der Behälter zu vermeiden.
Dennoch verhaften diese Anweisungen Bürkert nicht und ersetzen sie nicht die im Land
geltenden Gesetze bezüglich der Genehmigung der Schweißer und der Durchführung der
Schweißungen.

4.1 WARTUNG UND LAGERUNG
4.1.1 Wartung und Bestell-Tabelle der Ersatzteile
Membran regelmäßig auf Verschleiß prüfen. Die Bestell-Nr der Membran, die Ihrem Ventil
entspricht, aus folgender Tabelle entnehmen (CSM-Membran nach Wunsch)
Bei Verwendung von schlammartigen oder abrasiven Medien sowie hohe
Mediumstemperaturen, muss die Membran öfter geprüft werden.
4.1.2 Lagerung
Bei längerer Einlagerung des Ventils müssen die Gehäuseschrauben gelockert werden,
um bleibende Verformungen der Membran zu vermeiden.

4.2 AUSBAU DES MEMBRANVENTILS
Vor dem Ausbau oder Öffnen des Ventils ist die Mediumszufuhr zu
unterbrechen und der Druck im Leitungssystem abzubauen.

- Das Ventil öffnen, bis der (gelbe) optische Stellungsanzeiger ganz heraus steht
(bis zur Blockierung).
Das Rad darf nur mit der Hand gedreht werden.
- Schutzkappen der Mutter, wenn vorhanden, entfernen.
- Die 4 Befestigungsschrauben über Kreuz lösen und das Rad entfernen.
- Das Rad um einige Drehungen drehen: Die Membran löst sich vom Gehäuse.
- Membran entfernen:
• Bei DN15 und 20 die Elastomer-Membran einfach entfernen.
• Bei DN > 20 die Elastomer-Membran ausschrauben.
• Eine PTFE/EPDM-Membran um 90° drehen, um das Bajonett zu lösen.
- Die neue Membran zurücksetzen, so dass sich die Befestigungs- und die
Membranlöcher gegenüber befinden (gegenbenenfalls festschrauben).
- Das Ventil wieder öffnen (bis zur Blockierung drehen).
- Rad und Schrauben zurücksetzen.
- Schrauben vorsichtig über Kreuz anziehen, bis das Rad an der richtigen Stelle sitzt.
- Das Ventil ganz zustellen dann wieder ganz öffnen, damit die Membran richtig
anliegt.
- Die Schrauben über Kreuz mit dem in der folgenden Tabelle angegebenen
Drehmoment (in Nm) anziehen:
Für 3A zugelassene Produkte, bitte nur für Lebensmitteleinsatz
geeignete Schmiermittel gemäß Norm CFR 21 Part 178.3570 verwenden.
