Homologation ATEX
Depuis le 01. 07. 2003 la nouvelle directive CE 94/9/CE (ATEX 100a) est appliquée. Le
présent produit Bürkert correspond aux exigences de cette directive. Comparé à
l'homologation existante jusqu'à maintenant, seul le marquage a changé, les appareils sont
techniquement identiques.
Les identification se différencient
comme suit:
ATEX-Zulassung
Seit dem 01. 07. 2003 wird die neue EG-Richtlinie 94/9/EG (ATEX 100a) angewendet. Das
vorliegende Bürkert-Produkt entspricht den Anforderungen dieser Richtlinie. Im Vergleich
zur bisherigen Zulassung hat sich nur die Kennzeichnung geändert, technisch sind die
Geräte identisch.
Die Kennzeichnungen unterscheiden
sich wie folgt:
ATEX Approval
Since 01.07.2003, the new EC Guideline 94/9/EC (ATEX 100a) is being applied. The
present Bürkert product complies with the requirements of this Guideline. Compared with
the previous approval, only the marking has changed; the devices are technically identical.

Harmonization of the Legal Regulations of Member States concerning
electrical equipment with rated voltages of 50-1000 V AC respectively 75-1500 V
DC (Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EC),

equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive
atmospheres (ATEX, 94/9/EU).

To ensure that the device functions correctly and will have a long service life,
please comply with the information in these operating instructions as well as the
operating conditions and the permisible ranges that are specified in the data
sheets of device used.
• If these instructions are ignored, no liability will be accepted from our side, and
the guarantee on the device and its accessories will also become invalid!
• This device is exclusively intended for use as a solenoid valve for the media
permitted according to the data sheet and for use in Explosion Group II,
Category 2G or 2D and Temperature Classes T4, T5 or T6 (refer to the
information on the Ex-approval plate ).
• The class of protection used is EEx m encapsulation for coils with cable
connections or the EEx em encapsulation for coils with a terminal box.
• The coils with terminal boxes are not authorized for Category 2D.
• An other use, or any use exceeding the above provisions will be considered as
incorrect usage . Bürkert accepts no liability for any damage resulting from
such use. The risk will be borne by the user alone.
• Comply with the requirements of EN 50281-1-2, e.g. in respect of dust
deposits and temperatures!
• The AC10 magnetic coil is used to actuate valves that control gaseous or
fluid media.The coil is always mounted on the armature guide tube or the
armature, and is secured with a nut, thereby always creating a closed
system, so that these devices may also be used in petrol pumps for the
control of the petrol as Category 2 devices.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
1. Short-circuit protection
Each solenoid must be connected in series with a fuse (max. 3 x Ibto IEC
60127-2-1) or motor contactor with rapid short-circuit and thermal triggering
corresponding to its rated current (the contactor being adjusted to this
current). With very small rated currents of the solenoids, a fuse with the lowest
current according to the stated IEC standard is adequate. This fuse may be
placed in the associated supply device or must be connected separately in
series. The rated voltage of the fuse must be equal to or greater than the
stated rated voltage of the solenoid. The cutoff capacity of the fuse cartridge
must be equal to or greater than the maximum expected short-circuit current
at the point of installation (usually 1500 A).
The nominal value of the fuse is quoted on the magnet.

2. Operation with associated valve body
The solenoids coil type AC10-..-.-PD73 through type AC10-..-.-PD86 may only
be operated with a matching valve body as a complete device, complying with
the following requirements:
• Materials with single and block assembly:
metal (brass, aluminium, stainless steel) or plastics (e,g, polyamide PA 6
GV ...)
ATTENTION! When using the devices in petrol pumps for the control of
petrol in category 2, a valve body made of metal (brass,
aluminium or stainless steel) must be employed!

The coil is mounted on the armature guide
tube.
It may be disassembled only by the
manufacturer!
The valve always represent a closed
system.
Temperature conditions on the solenoid coil
type AC10 at 60 °C ambient temperature.
• Minimum dimensions of the valve bodies:
32 mm x 32 mm x 10 mm (L x W x H)
A larger valve body with better heat conductance may be attached at any
time.
3. Individual installation
The solenoid coil types AC10-..-.- PD47 to AC10- ..-.-PD72 , are only suitable
for individual installation.
4. Operating temperature range
Comply with the operating temperature listed for each type in the ”Electrical
Data”!
5. Ambient temperature > 55 °C
For solenoid coil types AC10-..-6-PD53 and AC10-..-6-PD66, a heat-resistant
cable tail is used for ambient temperatures > 55 °C!
The solenoid coil types AC 10-..-.-... may also be used for the control of petrol
in category 2 when no air and no oxygen are present in the closed system.
This also applies during start-up and shut-down of the system.
Use in Petrol tanks
ATTENTION! When using the devices in petrol pumps for the control of
petrol in category 2, a valve body made of metal (brass,
aluminium or stainless steel) must be employed!

Model with a terminal box
The solenoid coil type AC10-..-.-... may also be manufactured with a
terminal box.
Through the addition of a terminal box, the type of protection of these
solenoid coil is changed.
• The designation with the integrated terminal bos is: II 2G EEx em ll T4, T5, T6

ATTENTION • Only permanently laid cables and wiring may be inserted.
• The operator must provide suitable stress relief.
• Wires with an outside diameter of 6 to 13 mm may be used.
Observe the maximum thermal loading of the cables or
wires to be inserted.
• The inserted break-off seal must be matched to the
diameter of the cable or wire.
• The rated cross-section of the cable or wire strands must
be at least 0.75 mm² and may not exceed 2.5 mm².
• The screws for fixing the cover of the terminal box must be
tightened with a torque of 100 Ncm (±5%).

When operated under the conditions
described in these instructions, the coils
are maintenance-free.
As a matter of principle, let all repairs be
carried out by the manufacturer!
ACCESSORIES
In the case of the version of the device with terminal box, in temperature class
T4, fuse Type 1058 with Approval PTB 01 ATEX 2064 U can be used.
ATTENTION The valve must not opened during repair or maintenance
work on the system, and the earth connection must not be
disconnected!

Hiermit erklärt die Firma Bürkert Werke GmbH & Co. KG als Hersteller, dass diese
Erzeugnisse den Anforderungen entsprechen, die in den Richtlinien des Rates zur
Angleichung der Rechtsvorschriften der Mitgliedstaaten über
elektrische Betriebsmittel mit Nennspannungen von 50-1000 V AC bzw. 75-1500 V
DC (Niederspannungsrichtlinie 73/23/EWG),
die elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit (89/336/EWG)
und für Geräte und Schutzsysteme zur bestimmungsgemäßen Verwendung in
explosionsgefährdeten Bereichen (ATEX, 94/9EG) festgelegt sind.
Zur Beurteilung der Erzeugnisse hinsichtlich Einhaltung der Niederspannungs-
richtlinie wurden folgende Normen herangezogen:
