GENERAL SAFETY RULES
WARNING! Read all instructions
Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock,
re, and/or serious injury. The term “power tool” in all of the warnings listed
below refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated
(cordless) power tool.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
WORK AREA
Keep your work area clean and well lit.1. Cluttered benches and dark areas
invite accidents.
Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the2.
presence of ammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks
which may ignite the dust or fumes.
Keep bystanders, children, and visitors away while operating a power tool.3.
Distractions can cause you to lose control. Protect others in the work area from
debris such as chips and sparks. Provide barriers or shields as needed.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Grounded tools must be plugged into an outlet properly installed and1.
grounded in accordance with all codes and ordinances. Never remove the
grounding prong or modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter
plugs. Check with a qualied electrician if you are in doubt as to whether
the outlet is properly grounded. If the tools should electrically malfunction or
break down, grounding provides a low resistance path to carry electricity away
from the user.
Double insulated tools are equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is2.
wider than the other). This plug will t in a polarized outlet only one way.
If the plug does not t fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does
not t, contact a qualied electrician to install a polarized outlet. Do not
change the plug in any way. Double insulation eliminates the need for the
three wire grounded power cord and grounded power supply system.
Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators,3.
ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your
body is grounded.
Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.4. Water entering a power
tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
Do not abuse the Power Cord.5. Never use the Power Cord to carry the
tools or pull the Plug from an outlet. Keep the Power Cord away from
heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts. Replace damaged Power Cords
immediately. Damaged Power Cords increase the risk of electric shock.
PERSONAL SAFETY
Stay alert. Watch what you are doing, and use common sense when1.
operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while tired or under the
inuence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of inattention while
operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Contain long2.
hair. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose
clothes, jewelry, or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
Avoid accidental starting.3. Be sure the Power Switch is off before plugging
in. Plugging in power tools with the Power Switch on, invites accidents.
Remove adjusting keys or wrenches before turning the power tool on.4. A
wrench or a key that is left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result
in personal injury.

Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.5. Proper
footing and balance enables better control of the power tool in unexpected
situations.
Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection.6. Dust mask, non-skid
safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection must be used for appropriate
conditions.
TOOL USE AND CARE
Do not force the tool. Use the correct tool for your application.1. The correct
tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it is designed.
Do not use the power tool if the Power Switch does not turn it on or off.2.
Any tool that cannot be controlled with the Power Switch is dangerous and must
be replaced.
Disconnect the Power Cord Plug from the power source before making any3.
adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool. Such preventive
safety measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally.
Store idle tools out of reach of children and other untrained persons.4. Tools
are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
Maintain tools with care. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.5. Properly
maintained tools with a sharp cutting edge are less likely to bind and are easier
to control. Do not use a damaged tool. Tag damaged tools “Do not use” until
repaired.
Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts,6.
and any other condition that may affect the tool’s operation. If damaged,
have the tool serviced before using. Many accidents are caused by poorly
maintained tools.
Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for your7.
model. Accessories that may be suitable for one tool may become hazardous
when used on another tool.
SERVICE
Tool service must be performed only by qualied repair personnel. 1. Service
or maintenance performed by unqualied personnel could result in a risk of injury.
When servicing a tool, use only identical replacement parts. Follow2.
instructions in the “Inspection, Maintenance, And Cleaning” section of this
manual. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow maintenance instructions
may create a risk of electric shock or injury.

SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES
Maintain a safe working environment.1. Keep the work area well lit. Make
sure there is adequate surrounding workspace. Always keep the work area free
of obstructions, grease, oil, trash, and other debris. Do not use this product in
areas near ammable chemicals, dusts, and vapors.
Maintain labels and nameplates on the Tire Changer.2. These carry important
information. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a
replacement.
Use eye and hearing protection.3. Always wear ANSI approved safety impact
eye goggles and hearing protectors when using this product.
Do not allow children to use or play with this product.4.
Store idle equipment.5. When not in use, tools and equipment should be stored
in a dry location to inhibit rust. Always lock up tools and equipment, and keep out
of reach of children.
Do not use this product if under the inuence of alcohol or drugs. 6. Read
warning labels on prescriptions to determine if your judgement or reexes are
impaired while taking drugs. If there is any doubt, do not attempt to use this
product.
Dress properly.7. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry as they can be caught in
moving parts. Wear restrictive hair covering to contain long hair. Wear heavy
duty gloves when handling tires, but be careful to keep gloves away from all
moving parts of the Tire Changer.
Do not overreach.8. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Do not reach
over or across running machines.
Industrial applications must follow OSHA requirements.9.
Maintain this product with care.10. Keep this product clean for better and safer
performance.
Maintenance:11. For your safety, service and maintenance should be performed
regularly by a qualied technician.
Check for damaged parts.12. Before using this product, carefully check that it will
operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for damaged parts
and any other conditions that may affect the operation of this product. Replace
or repair damaged or worn parts immediately.
Replacement parts and accessories:13. When servicing, use only identical
replacement parts. Only use accessories intended for use with this product.
Use the right tool or attachment for the job.14. Do not attempt to force a small
tool or attachment to do the work of a larger industrial tool or attachment. There

are certain applications for which this product was designed. It will do the job
better and more safely at the rate for which it was intended. Do not modify this
product, and do not use this product for a purpose for which it was not intended.
WARNING:15. The Tire Changer requires the assembly of a UL, CSA, or CE listed,
220 Volt, 3-Prong Electrical Plug (not provided) onto the unit’s electrical power
cord. The National Electric Code requires that the GREEN wire on the unit must
be used as the GROUND wire. The “HOT” wires on the power cord are the
BLACK and WHITE wires. Do not attempt to alter the 220 Volt, 3-Prong Plug or
its assembly to the power cord (as mentioned above) in any way. In addition,
it is recommended that this assembly procedure be carried out by a qualied
electrician.
CAUTION!16. Prior to performing any services or maintenance on the Tire
Changer, always disconnect the Tire Changer from its air supply source. Pump
the Bead Breaker Pedal several times to evacuate all compressed air from the
machine, and disconnect the unit from its electrical supply source.
Use only clean, dry, regulated, compressed air at up to17. 110 PSI (8-BAR).
Never use oxygen, carbon dioxide, combustible gases, or any other bottled gas
as a power source for this machine.
EXPLOSION DANGER! Never overinate tires or other inatable items. 18.
When inating a tire with compressed air, make sure to inate the tire to
the exact PSI as recommended by the tire manufacturer. Always observe
Pressure Gauge of Tire Changer to check the actual pressure in tires.
To avoid personal injury and/or machine damage, always make sure the tire19.
rim is rmly secured on the Tire Changer with its Jaws.
Never place your hands or ngers between the vehicle wheel rim and the 20.
Jaws of the Tire Changer during the locking/clamping stage.
Dispose of old tires in accordance with local, state, and federal laws.21.
People with pacemakers should consult their physician(s) before use.22.
Electromagnetic elds in close proximity to heart pacemaker could cause
pacemaker interference or pacemaker failure.
WARNING!23. The warnings, precautions, and instructions discussed in this
manual cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. The
operator must understand that common sense and caution are factors which
cannot be built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.

UNPACKING
When unpacking, check to make sure all the parts shown on the Parts Lists
near the end of this manual are included. If any parts are missing or broken, please
call Harbor Freight Tools at the number shown on the cover of this manual as soon as
possible.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Note: For additional information regarding the parts mentioned in the following pages,
refer to the Assembly Diagrams near the end of this manual.
With assistance and a proper lifting device, carefully move the Tire Changer to1.
the desired workplace location. Make sure to position the Tire Changer on a
at, level, dry, oor surface capable of bearing the weight of the Tire Changer,
operator, additional tools, tires, etc.
Using the four mounting holes located at the Tire Changer’s base as a template,2.
mark the spots where four 3/8” diameter mounting holes will be drilled in the oor
surface. Then, temporarily set the Tire Changer aside.
Drill the four, pre-marked, 3/8” holes in the oor surface (about 4” deep). Then, 3.
insert a 3/8” expansion plug (not included) in each of the four holes.
Move the Tire Changer back to its original position, making sure to align its four4.
mounting holes with the four pre-drilled holes in the oor surface. Once the holes
are aligned and the Tire Changer is level, insert four 3/8” bolts (not included)
through the mounting holes and into the expansion plugs. Secure the Tire
Changer to the oor surface by tightening the four 3/8” bolts.
Prior to assembling and using the Tire Changer, it is recommended that you5.
familiarize yourself with the main components of the unit. (See Figure A.)
NOTE:6. Prior to beginning the assembly procedures, make sure to remove
all the additional parts and accessories from the shipping boxes that are
included with the Tire Changer.

7. Vertical column assembly procedure:
With assistance, place the Column (1, Fig. B-1)1)
in its seating on the Body Assembly (2, Fig. B-1).
Push the Air Hose (3, Fig. B-1) through the large
round hole into the body.
Insert the Pin (13, Fig. B-1) through the column as2)
shown in Fig. B-1 and fasten it with Screws (14,
Fig. B-1) and Washers (15, Fig. B-1).
Using the Screw (17, Fig. B-1) tighten with the3)
Self- Locking Nut (16, Fig. B-1) to connect the Pin
(18, Fig. B-1) of the post tilting cylinder.
Remove the four Screws (4, Fig. B-1) from the left4)
Side Cover (6, Fig. B-1) and remove it. Connect
the Air Hose (3, Fig. B-1) from the column to the
6mm Connector (5, Fig. B-1).
Replace the Side Cover (6, Fig. B-1) and fasten it5)
with the Screws (4, Fig. B-1).
Install the plastic guard and x it with the two Cap 6)
Screws (10, Fig. B-1).
Fix the Metal Sheeting Guard (11, Fig. B-1) to the back of the vertical column (1, Fig.7)
B-1) using the two Cap Screws (12, Fig. B-1).

8. Loosen the three Screws (113 & 129). Then, lift up and remove the Plastic Cover
(116). (See Figure B-2.)
With assistance, slide the Vertical Arm (120) fully upward and hold.9. NOTE: You
may wish to place wooden blocks under the Vertical Arm in order to keep the
Vertical Arm in its upward position throughout this assembly procedure.
(See Figure B-2.)
Temporarily unscrew and remove the Self-Locking Nut (137) from the Vertical10.
Locking Plate (118). (See Figure B-2.)
Insert the Spring (117) onto the upper portion of the Vertical Arm (120), and allow11.
the Spring to rest upon the Vertical Locking Plate (118). (See Figure B-2.)
Re-tighten the Self Locking Nut (137) into the Vertical Locking Plate (118) in12.
order to secure the Spring (117) to the Vertical Locking Plate. (See Figure B-2.)
Insert the Knob (115) onto the upper portion of the Spring (117). Push the Knob13.
rmly down, while compressing the Spring, until the Knob contacts the upper
portion of the Vertical Arm (120). Then secure the Knob to the Vertical Arm,
using the Screw (114). (See Figure B-2.)
CAUTION! Use extreme caution when compressing the Spring (117).
Compressing the Spring will cause resistance which could result in
personal injury should the Spring suddenly expand. Maintain a rm grip
on the Knob (115) while compressing the Spring. Firmly tighten the Screw
(114) to secure the Knob to the Vertical Arm. (See Figure B-2.)

Re-attach the Plastic Cover (116), and re-tighten the three Screws (113 & 129).14.
If using wooden blocks to support the Vertical Arm (120), remove the blocks.
(See Figure B-2.)
NOTE:15. For shipping purposes, the Shovel (315) is restrained with a temporary
tie-down bracket. Make sure to remove and discard the bracket.

Lay out the Tool Box (IT42) and Tool Box Support (IT38).16. (See Assy. Diagram.)
Attach the Tool Box Support (IT38) to the Body (1) of the Tire Changer, using the17.
Mounting Bracket Bolts. (See Assy. Diagram.)
Attach the Tool Box (IT42) to the Tool Box Support (IT38), using the Mounting18.
Bracket Bolts. (See Assy. Diagram.)
Remove the Left Side Cover (8) from the Body (1) to expose the inside of the Tire19.
Changer. (See Assy. Diagram.)
Run the Hose (IT15) through the opening in the Body (1) of the Tire Changer.20.
Then, connect the Hose to the 5-Way Valve (IT17).

Re-attach the Left Side Cover (8) to the Body (1) of the Tire Changer.21.

Assembly of the Tire Changer should be complete and the machine now ready22.

capable of supporting the weight of this heavy tool (566 lb.) and all required tools
and tires.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
To Perform Preliminary Operating Tests:
Plug the Power Cord into the nearest 220 volt, grounded, electrical outlet.1.
Connect the air compressor’s supply hose (not included) to the Filter & Pressure2.
Reducer + Lubr. (IT201 thru IT205). Set the air compressor’s regulator to no
more than 110 PSI. Turn on the air compressor, and allow sufcient time for
adequate build-up of compressed air. (See Figure A.)
Depress the Reverse Pedal (401) down. The Turntable (201) should turn in a3.
clockwise direction. Pull the Reverse Pedal up, and the Turntable should turn
counterclockwise. (See Figure A.)
Open the Bead Breaker Arm (321) manually, and depress the Bead Breaker4.
Pedal (402). The Bead Breaker Arm will close. When the Bead Breaker Pedal is
released, the Pedal should return to its original position. (See Figure A.)
