Replacing Fuses
If the unit does not function at all when connected to the main power supply i.e. does not illuminate
after replacing the lamp. Then it is highly likely that the fuse has blown.
Disconnect from main power supply before attempting to replace either lamps or fuse.
In order to replace the fuse, disconnect from the main power supply first, and then unscrew the
fuseholder cover to reveal the fuse. The unit has a label attached which indicates the correct fuse
rating and you will also find this listed as part of the specifications for the unit later in this guide. It is
most important that replacement fuses are of the correct rating. Failure to use the correct fuse could
damage the lighting effect beyond economic repair.
The fuse should simply be placed inside the holder and the screw cap replaced, when this is done
connect to the main power supply to check. If the unit is still not working then please CHAUVET for
servicing.
Caution
Do not touch unit or lamps while hot.
No user serviceable parts inside, please refer to CHAUVET for service.
Power Connections
The unit is supplied with a power plug appropriate to its voltage and destination. Should any other
connections be required they must be carried out with the following configuration.
Earth = Green/Yellow cable
Neutral = Blue cable
Live = Brown cable
In the USA & Europe, it is required that all plugs are 3-pin type i.e. with Earth/Ground connection.
In the UK, it is required that all mains plugs are fitted with 5A fuses.

Introduction
Congratulations on the purchase of your new CHAUVET lighting effect. We are confident you will enjoy
many trouble free hours with these units. To assist with the care and use of the product we have
prepared this short guide.
Setting-Up
This lighting effect has been designed to function on a mains power supply of either 120V~60Hz or
230V~50Hz and each head has been fitted with a suitable power plug for use with your local voltage.
Check the label and voltage selector switch (if fitted) and the power plug for the correct voltage before
switching on.
First check the contents of your packaging with the ‘Packing List’ on the back of this guide. Then install
lamps (see ‘Replacing Lamps’ for details) in each head. Once this is done decide on your location and
link the units together (see ‘Linking’ and diagram – fig.2).
Operation
The ‘Master’ head has all the controls at the rear and is used to operate the various functions of the
effect. The mode selector switch allows you to decide between auto run (this cycles through all 16
patterns – sound activated), two individual chase patterns (not sound activated), static (all on), or
flashing (all on/off). The chase speed control determines the speed at which the units chase, except
when in static mode. Finally the audio sensitivity control adjusts the sensitivity of the internal
microphone for sound pick-up. The sound activation mode takes the dominant beat of the music as its
‘pulse’ for the chase.
For general use, we suggest that you set the controls to auto run with the speed control and the audio
sensitivity set to suit your mood. This will provide an effect that is ever-changing and create a good
multi-purpose lightshow.
Installation / Mounting
Although these units can be used in an upright position. It is recommended that, for safety purposes,
your lighting effects be properly mounted using a suitable hanging clamp and safety cable. CHAUVET
offers a range of items, which are ideal for safe mounting.
Replacing Lamps
1. Disconnect from main power supply before attempting to replace lamps or fuses.
2. Ensure that the unit is sufficiently cool, before removing blown lamps.
3. Never touch new lamps with your fingers; use a tissue or a cloth.
In order to replace the lamp, disconnect from main power supply first, and unscrew the lamp
replacement cover, which is highlighted on the diagram (fig.1). Only use the appropriately rated lamps
as use of any other lamp type may cause the unit to be non-operational.
Due to the nature of halogen lamps it is vitally important that you do not touch the new replacement
lamp with your fingers, as this will reduce lamp life considerably. Once again a tissue or cloth can be
used for fitting the replacement lamp. Finally before switching on, check that the lamp is housed
correctly in the lamp holder and that the lamp replacement cover has been screwed back into place.
If after replacement of the lamp, the unit is still not working then please contact CHAUVET for
servicing.
Multi-Link System
With the cables provided you can link one master with fifteen linkable heads of heads for synchronized
control from the master head, see diagram (fig.2). The socket is such that it will only allow you to plug
the cable in the correct way, once connection has been made a twistlock mechanism secures the cable
firmly in place.
Once the heads have been linked correctly, as shown, then it is necessary to select the appropriate
channels for each head. On the rear of each ‘linkable’ unit you will find a rotary selector which has
positions 1 to 4 clearly marked.
With this you can designate which head will synchronize with another i.e. all heads selected as ‘2’ will
light together, all those selected as ‘3’ will light together, etc. This is particularly useful if you have a
multi-head system, for example, 8 heads linked together would mean you could have 2 of each
channel selected.
The beauty of the CHAUVET ‘multi-link’ operation is the compatibility with other models and systems in
the range. See diagram (fig.2) for a list of all the products which you can hook up together in this way.
A great way to improve your lightshow at little cost!
Cleaning
The most important part of your lighting effects to keep clean are the lenses as they allow the light
output to transmit. These should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. The body of the units may also be
cleaned in the same way. We recommend internal cleaning be carried out by a fully qualified
technician.
Maintenance & Servicing
Work on internal parts should be carried out by a qualified technician. Removal of any covers other
than the lamp replacement access is considered a breach of warranty and will not be covered under
any such agreement unless authorized first by CHAUVET.
Troubleshooting
• If all units are not functional – check main power supply is ‘on’ and check fuses.
• If any units do not light – check head selector switch is correctly set, if ok, then lamp or fuse may
require replacing.
If after trying this solution you still have a problem contact CHAUVET.
