1 SPECIFICATIONS
- Your new APÉRO is a convection heater designed to heat your room quietly with
consistant heat, it is a perfect heater for living spaces, kitchens or other rooms.
- Your APÉRO is compatible with the CONVECTAIR Programmer Module (must be
connected through the pilot-wire to another Convectair heater equipped with the
Programmer module) allowing scheduled temperature set-backs in periods of prolonged
absence providing the same comfort and more savings.
- The APÉRO is also compatible with the wall mount controller AWC.

2 RECOMMENDED SETUP
READ CAREFULLY: These instructions are essential to install and use your new
APÉRO safely.
- Your heater must be installed in accordance with
national and local codes and CONVECTAIR
UHFRPPHQGVDQLQVWDOODWLRQE\DTXDOL¿HGHOHFWULFLDQ
- Do not cover or obstruct the air intake or outlet on
the unit as this could cause overheating and damage
the heater.
- Do not install the heater behind a door, furniture or
others obstacles, or in front of an air exhaust vent.
Keep combustible materials such as curtains, away
from the heater.
- Your heater is equipped with a heating element
that may reach high temperatures. Do not install or
operate in the presence of fuels such as gasoline,

- Do not install your heater under an electrical outlet.

2- Place the center of the mounting bracket's bottom holes ( no. 2 Fig. 3A & 3B ) at
15.5 cm (6 1/8 in) from the ground and make a mark.
3- Check horizontality of the mounting bracket (see note), then mark and pierce the
4 holes for fastening.
1- Free mounting brackets by pressing and pulling both locking brackets on the
back of the heater (no. 1 Fig. 3A & 3B).
4- Replace mounting bracket and fasten it appropriately with screws (not included).

follow these steps:

- You must connect the ground wire of the heater (green wire) with the copper wire.
- Never connect the pilot-wire (purple wire) to the electrical supply nor ground it.
- The purple wire with the seal at the extremity should not be used for the electrical
connection. It is used only if the heater is connected with the CONVECTAIR Programmer
system or the wall mount controller AWC.
- Fix the unit on the wall bracket before turning the power back on.
-WARNING : To prevent short circuits and electrical shocks

- CONVECTAIR recommends that your heater be installed by a

- This heater must be connected to a 240 Volt (60 cycles) circuit and
with an appropriate breaker.

due to the burning of production residues. This is normal and should
disappear after 2 to 3 minutes.

Your CONVECTAIR heater operates in short cycles of heating and standby. The red
indicator light tells you when the heater is on. The heater will always remain warm and
ambient temperature will remain constant. It is normal in very cold temperatures for the
heater to become hotter.
The following 5 settings can be accessed with the Mode selection key:
COMFORT Shows the temperature
setting
The heater maintains the desired comfort
temperature.
ECONOMY EC Maintains the room temperature in economy
mode (night setback).
FROST PROTECTION HG Maintains the room temperature at the frost
protection mode (7°C or 45°F).
STANDBY (NO HEAT) - - The heater stops heating.
PROGRAMMER Indicates the received
signal
(the ''PROG'' indicator lights up)
Allows the heater to respond to signals sent
by the CONVECTAIR Programmer (only func-
tional if connected with the pilot wire).
- Turning the power ON or OFF
Place the sliding switch located on the right side of the thermostat
to “1” position to turn the heater ON.
To turn the heater completely OFF, place the switch
in the “ ” position.

To start the heater press the ''MODE'' key. The display will
show the current thermostat comfort temperature setting, (for
example 19°C (
66°F )).
To place the heater on Standby (no heat), press the ''MODE''
key repeatedly until the display shows “--”.
Note : current temperature settings are kept in memory.
- Turning the thermostat ON or STANDBY
- Changing the temperature
Using the "+" and "–" keys, you can raise or lower the temperature setting as you wish
between 7°C and 28°C (45°F and 82°F) by gaps of 0.5°C (1°F) each time the key is
pressed.
- To change display in °C or °F
Place the heater on Standby (''- -''). The two bars will show
on the display.
Press simultaneously on ''+'' and ''MODE'' for 3 seconds.

Press the ''MODE'' key again to display the temperature
setting in the new scale.

- To set the desired temperature
Using the ''+'' and ''–'' keys, you can raise or lower the setting
by 1°C (2°F) each time the key is pressed.

to allow the temperature to stabilize at the desired comfort
level.
If the temperature does not satisfy you, adjust the

- Setback (Economy) Mode
Press and maintain the ''MODE'' key until the temperature value starts to blink.
Release the ''MODE'' key and adjust the temperature using the ''+'' or ''–'' keys. Press
''MODE''WRFRQ¿UPWKHVHWWLQJ
Note: the EC temperature is relative to the comfort temperature. If the comfort setting is

between the two values.
In the case of short-term absences (between 2 and 24 hours), it is recommended, for
added energy savings to use this mode. When the heater is in EC Mode, it will maintain
the temperature at around 3°C (
5°F) lower than the comfort temperature .

on the display indicating the economy mode is selected.
While in EC mode, press the ''+'' or ''–'' key. The EC
temperature setting will appear on the display.
- To change the ''EC'' temperature
- Frost protection mode ''HG'':
In case of a long term absence (more than 24 hrs.), the HG
mode will maintain the room temperature at 7°C (45°F). You
can reduce your energy consumption while maintaining a
minimum safe temperature (depending on your region).
- Locking the heater controls
This function locks any manipulation of the thermostat to
prevent tampering, particularly by children.
Press both the ''+'' and the ''–'' keys at the same time and
hold for 3 seconds. The display will blink to show that the
keyboard is locked.
Pressing any key when the keyboard is locked will cause the screen to display «FF» and
the heater will not respond.
The default setting is 3°C or 5°F below the comfort temperature.
Press the ''MODE'' key until the display shows : ''HG''.
- To unlock the heater controls
Press and hold both ''+'' and ''–'' keys at the same time for 3 seconds.

- Program Mode (To be used only when connected to the Programmer module)
This mode allows the heater to respond to instructions from a central programmer system
or from an individual Programmer module such as the CONVECTAIR Programmer.
Press on the ''MODE'' key until the Program mode indicator turns on.

Frost protection instructions from a Programming system will override all other settings
even if a heater is not set in the Program Mode.
In that case, the heater screen will display the appropriate symbol (see table above) but

MODE
- Using the heater with the wall mount controller (AWC)
When using a wall mount controller instead of the built-in thermostat display panel, the
control panel of your heater becomes inactive.
When a key is pressed, the screen will display ''AU'', then show the temperature setting
set by the AWC. The instructions sent by the AWC will have a priority.
Warning:
Connecting the electric heater to an AWC will permanently reprogramm its thermostat.
For the heater to be reused independently, it must be reinitialized by pressing the ''MODE''
and ''-'' keys at the same time for ten (10) seconds.

OVERHEAT CONTROL
This heater is equipped with an automatic reset overheat protection. In case of a mal-
function of the unit (blocked air output or intake), the heater will stop heating automati-
cally.
To reset the heater :
Check that the front panel, top and bottom of the heater are free of obstruction. Once
the obstruction is removed and the heater cools down, the overheat control will reset
automatically.
13 MAINTENANCE
To keep your CONVECTAIR unit clean, regular maintenance is suggested. To remove
dust, use a soft cloth. To remove a stain, use a damp cloth.

regularly removed from the protective louvers situated in front of your APÉRO.
NEVER USE ABRASIVE OR ACETONE-BASED PRODUCTS TO CLEAN YOUR
HEATER AS THIS MAY DETERIORATE THE EPOXY FINISH.
ANY REPAIR ON YOUR CONVECTAIR HEATER SHOULD ONLY BE DONE
BY A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN, AND ONLY AFTER THE HEATER HAS BEEN
DISCONNECTED.
Recommendations and advice
Your CONVECTAIR heater will become hot when in use. Caution is advised when young children are
present.

In certain cases, it is possible for yellowing of the surface to occur over time. This is not due to a
manufacturing defect.This is caused by surrounding air, which may contain smoke or dust, being heated
and circulated through the heater. This is particularly the case with ''white'' heaters and may translate in an
important important coloring of the unit.
Prevention : it is suggested that surfaces be frequently cleaned especially with units installed in

stove. Never use this heater during construction work or other activities that generate a lot of dust.

14 TROUBLESHOOTING
Before calling CONVECTAIR, please go through these simple checks :
1- Open and reset the breaker in the main panel.
2- Check that the sliding ''ON /OFF' switch on the control panel is at ''1''.
3- Check that the heater is not in Economy or Frost protection mode.
4- Remove any obstruction from the inlet/outlet louvers and reset the overheat control.
