SCheckall water fittingsand tubesforleaks.Also,make
suretherefrigeration tubing isnotrubbing orvibrating
againstothertubing panels,etc.
SDo notstackanything (boxes,etc.)on oraround theice
machine.

Theremustbe adequate air flowthrough and around
theice machinetoensurelong component life and ade-
quateice production.
2.CleaningtheExterior
1.Cleanthe area around theice machine asoftenasnecessaryto
maintaincleanliness and efficientoperation.
2.Spongedustand dirtoff theoutsideoftheice machinewithmild
soapand water.Wipedrywithasoftcleancloth.
Stainless steelpanels should be cleanedwithmildsoap ora commer-
cialstainless steelcleaner.Do notuse cleaners containing bleaching
agents; they usually containchlorinewhichstains stainless steel.
Heavy stains should beremovedwithstainless steel wool. Neveruse
plainsteel woolorabrasive padsbecause they will scratchthepanel
and cause rusting.

3.CLEANINGTHECONDENSER
Disconnectelectricpowertotheice machine at the electric service
switch boxbefore cleaning condenser!
Air--CooledCondenser
Adirtycondenser restrictsairflow whichresultsinexcessively high operat-
ing temperatures.High operating temperaturesreduce ice production and
shortencomponent life.Cleanthe condenserat leasteverysixmonths.
Condenserfins are sharp.Use carewhencleaning them.
1.Cleantheoutsideofthe condenserwithasoftbrush orvacuum
withabrushattachment.Brush orwashcondenser from top to bot-
tom,notfromsidetoside.Be carefulnot to bend thefins.Shine a
flashlight through the condensertocheckfordirtbetweenthefins.
2.If furthercleaning isrequired,blowcompressedairthrough the
condenser from theinside.Take carenot to bend thefan blades.
Shineaflashlight through the condensertocheckthatall thedirt is
removed.
Any bentcondenser finsmustbestraightenedwithafincomb.Contact
yourlocalservice agent todothis service.
Water-CooledCondenser (and regulating valve)
Thewater-cooledcondenserand water regulating valvemayrequire clean-
ing duetoscalebuild-up.
Lowice production,high waterconsumption,and high operating tempera-
turesand pressuresall may besymptomsof restrictionsinthe condenser
watercircuit.
The cleaning proceduresrequirespecialpumpsand cleaning solutionsand,
therefore,should beperformed by qualifiedmaintenance orservice
personnel.
4.CleaningtheInterior
Approvedice machine cleanersby brand names:
SLime--A--Way
SCalgon NickelSafe(greencoloronly)
All ice machine cleanerslabeledsafefornickelARENOTthebrand
CALGON NICKEL SAFE.
Ice machine cleanersare acidic-basedchemicals.Before beginning any
cleaning of the cuber,theice inthestoragebinordispenser mustbe
removed.
When using anychemical,rubber glovesand eyeprotectionshould be
worn.

Usefull-strengthice machine cleaneron a coarsesurface material(suchas
terrycloth)and wipedowntheinsidewall ofthe evaporatorarea,thewater
pan,thewatercurtainand evaporatorplastic extrusions.If thewaterdistrib-
utortubehasheavy scalebuild--up,remove and soakit infull-strengthice
machine cleaner (orexchangethetube and cleanthescaledtube atalater
date).
CleaningtheWater System&Evaporator
1.Set theswitchtoCLEAN and allowtheice on the evaporatorto
release and melt away.
2.Remove all ice from thestoragebin.
3.Removethewatercurtains,pour1/2 oz.ofice machine cleaner
downtherearkey-slotopenings.The cleanerwill drainintothe
waterpan.
4.Returnthewatercurtainstotheirproperoperating position.
5.Add 3 oz.forasingle evaporator,or5 oz.foradualevaporatorof
“Calgon Nickel-Safe”or“Lime-A-Away”ice machine cleanerdi-
rectlyintothewaterpan.SetswitchtoCLEAN,circulatefora
maximumof15 minutes
6.Depress and holdthedumpswitchtoallowthe cleanerto drain
away.
7.Fill thewaterpanwithcleanfreshwater,circulateforapproxi-
mately3minutes.Depress theDUMPswitchand allowthewater
to drainaway.Repeat thisprocedure3times.
8.Afterthirdrinse cycle,place productpowerswitchinice position.
Allowproduct to produce oneslab ofice -- DISCARDTHEICE.
9.Whencleancycleiscomplete,returncuberto normaloperating
mode.
PleaseTakeNoteof theFollowing:
SIce machines should only be cleanedwhen needed,not
by atimedscheduleofevery 60 days,etc.
SShould yourice machinerequire cleaning morethan
twiceayear,consult yourdistributorordealerabout
properwatertreatment.

SANITIZINGPROCEDURES
Tobeperformedonly after cleaningtheice machine:
1.*Add 1/4 ounce (7.08 g)sodiumhypochloritesolution (common
liquidlaundry bleach)tothewaterpanand allowthepumptocir-
culatethesolution for5minutes.You mayalso useacommercial
sanitizersuchasCalgon Ice MachineSanitizer following thedirec-
tionson theproduct label.
2.Turntheproductpowerswitch off.Depress and holdthedump
switchto drainthewaterpan.
3.Tosanitize thebinand othersurface areas,use1 ounce ofliquid
bleach pergallon ofwaterand wipe all areaswiththesolution.Or
useacommercialsanitizer.
4.Place theproductpowerswitchintheice position.Discardthefirst
batch ofice produced.
5.Cleaning and sanitizing arenowcomplete.Product may bereturned
to normalservice.
*Make certainthewatercurtainsare correctly positioned beforeoperating
thewaterpump.

Before calling forservice,restart theice machineusing thefollowing procedures:
1.Turn powerswitch off and then backtoICEMAKING position.If thesafetylimit featurehas stoppedtheice
machine,it will restartafterashortdelay.ProceedtoStep 2,but iftheice machinedoesnotrestart,referto
“Ice MachineDoesNotOperate”intheproblemchecklist.
2.Let theice machineoperateto determineifthe condition recurs...
a.If theice machinestopsagain,the condition recurred;call forservice.
b.If theice machine continuestorun,the condition correcteditself; let themachinerun.

PARTSWARRANTY PERIOD
IMICORNELIUSINC., hereinafter referred to asCORNELIUS,warrantstothe originalownerofa new CORNE-
LIUScommercialcube icemachine (“Machine”)who buys solelyforcommercialuses, that the Machine shall be
free fromdefectsinmaterialand/orfactoryworkmanshipifproperlyinstalled,operated and maintained,under
normaland properuse and serviceconditionswithcompetentsupervision.The partswarrantyperiod isthree
years(36 months)fromthe date ofinstallation or39 monthsfromthe date ofshipmentbyCORNELIUSwhich-
evertime period elapsesfirst. Withrespect tocompressor,solidstatecontrolboard and the evaporator(s), the
warrantyperiod will be fiveyears(60 months)fromthe date ofinstallation or63 monthsfromthe date ofship-
mentbyCORNELIUSwhichevertime period elapsesfirst. Warrantyon evaporatorplating limited,subject tothe
incoming waterconditionsand propercleaning and maintenance.The obligation ofCORNELIUSunderthiswar-
rantyislimited torepairor replacement(at the option ofCORNELIUS)FOBfactoryinMason City, Iowa of the
part(orParts)ofanyMachine thatisproven defective.
LIMITEDLIFETIMEWARRANTY
Inaddition tothe above stated partswarranty,Corneliusfurtherwarrantsthe stainless steelcabinet
and frame assemblytotheoriginalownerat theoriginal installation site againstcracks,rust,orcorro-
sion undernormaloperating conditions.ModelsIACS50,AC322 and WC322 are excludedfromthis
warranty clause.LIMITEDLABORWARRANTY PERIOD
In addition tothe partswarranty,CORNELIUSwill pay scheduled straight timelabortorepairor replace a defec-
tivecomponentwhen failure occurswithinthree years(36 months)fromthe date ofinstallation or39 months
fromthe date ofshipmentbyCORNELIUSwhichevertime period elapsesfirst. Suchserviceisto be performed
byaservice agency authorized byCORNELIUS.Time and rateschedulesforlaborcompensation will be pub-
lished periodicallybyCORNELIUS.Additionalexpenses including butnotlimitedtotraveltime,truck
charges,overtime charges,materialcost,accessing or removalof theice machine,normalprescribed
maintenance cleaning,adjustments,and ice purchases aretheresponsibilityof theoriginalowner.
No partswarrantyorlaborallowanceonthe motorcompressorassemblywill applywhen the icemachine’sre-
frigeration systemismodified withacondenserheatreclaimdevice,orpartsand assembliesnotprovided by
CORNELIUS,unless CORNELIUSprovidesapproval,inwriting, forthesemodificationsforspecificlocations.
The partswarranty shall notapplywhen destruction ordamage is caused byalterations,unauthorized service,
using otherthan factoryauthorized replacementparts,risks of transportation,accidents,misuse,damage by
fire, flood oractsof God.Nocomponentsorassemblyfromwhichthe serialnumberoridentification number
hasbeen altered or removed will be covered.Anydefective partstoberepaired or replaced mustbe returned to
usthrough a CORNELIUSdistributor/dealer, transportation chargesprepaid,and theymustbe properly sealed
and tagged.The serialand modelnumberof the Machine and the date oforiginal installation ofsuchMachine
mustbe given.The warrantyofrepaired or replaced partswill notextend beyond the period of the original war-
ranty.The decision of the CORNELIUS ServiceDepartmentregarding the warrantabilityofpartsand eligibility
forthe laborallowancewill be final.
