How to Use This Manual
This manual will provide the user with as much information about the PT-3000
system as possible. This information will be very useful while installation of
the system.
Chapter 1, “Introduction”; describes the various features about the system.
And describe the safety precautions that will protect you and the system.
Please read carefully to avoid any damages.
Chapter 2,“Getting Start & Outlooking”;tells you about unpacking details and
the accessories along with the system. It will also explain you the detail
identification about the various parts of the system.
Chapter 3, “ System Installation”; gives you detail description about the
installation of the system and connecting details for various external
peripherals.
Chapter 4, “System Power-up”; tells you about the initial check-ups before
switching “ON” the power to the system. Also provide some guideline with
software installation.

INTRODUCTION
1.1General Description
PT-3000 is an integrated system with more functionality, performance, durability, and
reliability. Its abundant built-in features allow you to widely use this system for different
application such as supermarket, restaurant, hospitality, pharmacy, information service
terminal and the likes.
PT-3000 system has a compact design & is lightweight. It can work in stand-alone or
network environment. To simplify system integration, its packs POS provisions such as
Ethernet, SVGA, Solid State Disk, PCMCIA interface, USB ports, Cash Drawer
interface, Customer Display interface. Unique POS feature POS feature such as 4
serial port with power capability. Special features not commonly seen in other
motherboards include watchdog timer for the system dependability during unattended
operation. CMOS double backup in Flash memory to ensure the system to be
automatically booted up when the CMOS data loss occurs.
Touch Panel feature on the PT-3000 system makes it still strong in application. Touch
screen uses resistive sensor, providing unsurpassed performance in POS application.
Touch the screen with a finger, gloved hand, fingernail, or even a credit card, and you’ll
receive a fast, accurate response- every time.
Touch Panel on the PT-3000 system is scratch-resistant, and completely sealed against
contamination and moisture. It prevents fluid ingress through the air vent due to
capillary action.
Due to its flexible design the PT-3000 system can be installed without its enclosure for
embedded applications such as wall or table mounting.
Designed by POS experts and for POS professionals, the PT-3000 system is the
ultimate one-step solution for your POS system.
1.2 Safety Precautions
!Read all of these instructions.
!Do not place this system on an unstable cart, stand, or table. The system
may fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult and serious damage to
the appliance.
!Slots and openings in the back or bottom are provided for ventilation, and
to ensure reliable operation of the system and to protect it from
overheating, these openings must not be blocked or covered. The system
should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat register.
!This system should be operated only from the type of power source
indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of the type of power,
consult your dealer or local Power Company.
!This system is equipped with a three-wire grounding type plug, a plug
having a third (grounding) pin. This plug will only fit into a grounding-type

power outlet. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug
into the outlet, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do
not defeat the safety purpose of the grounding-type plug.
!Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Do not locate this system
where persons working on it might abuse the cord.
!Never push objects of any kind into this computer through opening present
on the system as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short out
parts that could result in a fire electric shock.
!When replacements parts are required, be sure the service technician has
used replacements parts specified by the manufacturer that have same
characteristics as the original parts. Unauthorized substitutions may result
in fire, electric shock, or other hazards.
!Upon completion of any service or repairs to this system, ask the service
technician to perform routine safety checks to determine that the system is
in safe operating condition.
!Do not use this system near water. For example, bathtub, washbowl,
kitchen sink, in a wet basement etc. Avoid installing the system exposed
to direct sunlight, or near a heating device.
!Also avoid moving the system rapidly from a hot place to a cold place or
vice versa. Otherwise, condensation may be casused from inside the
system.
!When system not in use, remember to cover the system and store with
care.
!Before plug the power cord on to the AC inlet of the power supply unit,
please make sure the power switch is on correct voltage either 115V or
230V to avoid the damage of the power supply unit.

GETTING START
2.1 Unpacking the Package
Upon unpacking the PT-3000 system package, make sure that you have the
following items in good conditions:
!PT-000 CPU Unit x 1 pc
!Pedestal Unit with Keylock x 1 pc
!Power Supply Unit x 1 pc
!MSR Unit x 1 pc
!The PT-3000 User’s & Technical Reference Manual x 1 pc each
!AC Power Cord x 1 pc
!HDD & FDD cable, Connectors, Cable Fixer & Screw Kit
!Support Drivers and Utility Diskettes
!Front Base Cover x 1 pc
!Rear Base Cover x 1 pc
!Hinge Cover x 2 pc
!Customer Display Unit x 1 pc
If any of the above items are damaged or missing, please contact your supplier
immediately.
After you have removed all items put the packing material and plastics wrap
into the packing box and move it to a storage area. Save them for use when
moving or shipping the system.

B) The Pedestal Unit : This unit consist of following,
•Metal Base to install the HDD / FDD
•Hinge connection to main CPU unit
•Front Base Cover
•Rear Base Cover
•Customer Display slot
•Key-lock interface
C) The Power Supply Unit : This unit consists of following,
•Main powers input socket, but before applying the power to the unit,
make sure about the supply voltage. There is a switch to either
select the 115 VAC or 230 VAC.
•Output DC voltages through this unit are delivered by two DIN type
connectors that are to be interface to the main CPU unit.

SYSTEM INSTALLATION
Upon unpacking the system from the package, please follow the steps as
explained below to install the system for operation:
3.1 Initial Check-up of the system
•Confirm that power switch is in“OFF” position.
•There are two round hinge covers on either sides of the system,
which acts as a cover lock for the hinge between the CPU unit and
the pedestal. Pull these round cover brackets downward, after that
you can remove them out easily.
•There is a keylock on the front side of the pedestal unit. Insert the
key into the lock, turn the key to unlock position. Once this done,
you can remove the back cover placed on the rear side of the
pedestal.
•Rotate the main unit to the biggest rise angle.
•There is an I/O cover plate on the rear side of the CPU unit, just
below the serial number & CE label. To open the cover you have to
pull it from the lower side. Once it is open you will get the access to
the I/O port on the system.
•After following above steps, now you can remove the back base
cover place on the pedestal. Once you remove the same you will
get access to the HDD and the cable interfacing area.
•The CPU unit is fixed to the Pedestal with the help of two side
hinges. The CPU unit is inserted through the slot into the hinge.
Once fitted properly you can tight the same with the three screw
connections on each side.
3.2 PS/2 Keyboard Connection
•There is one PS/2 port on the rear side of the CPU unit to which you
can interface the PS/2 keyboard. Pass the keyboard cable through
the slot provided on the lower right-hand side of the pedestal.
Please crosscheck the label indicator before installing the keyboard.
3.3 PS/2 Mouse Connection
•There is one PS/2 port on the rear side of the CPU unit to which you
can interface the PS/2 mouse. Pass the mouse cable through the
slot provided on the lower right-hand side of the pedestal. Please
crosscheck the label indicator before installing the mouse.
3.4 Printer Connection
•There is 25-pin D-type female connector on the rear side of the
CPU unit to which you can interface the parallel printer. Pass the
printer cable through the opening provided on the left-hand side
base of the pedestal.

3.5 Cash Drawer Connection
•One RJ11 connector is provided on the rear side of the CPU unit
that supports two cash drawer controllers. Pass the cash drawer
cable through the right-hand side base opening of the pedestal.
3.6 VGA Connection
•One 15-pin D-type female connector is provided on the rear side of
the CPU unit that supports not-interlaced CRT display to the
system. Pass the display cable through the left-hand side base
opening of the pedestal.
3.7 Serial Port Device Connection
•On the rear side of the CPU unit there are two 9-pin D-type male
connectors that supports RS-232C interface. COM1 & COM2 both
serial ports can be set to supply power +5V.
3.8 Customer Display Connection
•On the rear side of the CPU unit there is one RJ45 connector that is
used to interface the customer display unit. This is a serial port with
RS-232C interface signals but only difference is that the 9-pin D-
type connector is not used.
3.9 MSR Connection
•On the left-hand front side of the CPU unit there is a covered slot
which supports the 1/ 2 /3 track magnetic card reader. It is required
to open the slot and interface the MSR connector and then fit in the
MSR unit in the same slot.
3.10 PCMCIA Connection
•There is opening on the lower right hand side of the CPU unit that is
used to interface the PCMCIA / FAX MODEM to the system through
PC/104 interface.
3.11 Installing the Hard Disk Drive
•On the pedestal there is a pair of metal strips which are fixed with a
screw to the base plate. Unscrew the strips from the base plate.
Then fix the strips to the HDD edges in the respective slot provided.
After this install the HDD on to the base plate of the pedestal with
the interface and power cable facing towards you. Screw the metal
strips to the base of pedestal. Connect the interface cable to the
IDE 40-pin male connector present on the rear side of the CPU unit.
Crosscheck with the label indicator. Also interface the power cable
to any one of 4-pin male connector provided on the rear side of the
CPU unit.
3.12 USB Devices Connection
•There are two USB ports connections provide on the rear side of the
CPU unit. These ports are fuse protected and compliant with USB
spec.

3.13 Ethernet Connection
•On the rear side of the CPU unit you will find one RJ45 connector
just beside the IDE connector slot. This RJ45 connector is with 2
LED indicators on it. This port is Novell NE2000 compatible 10/100
Base-T interface. With the Ethernet boot ROM included into the
system BIOS.
3.14 Installing the Floppy Disk Drive
•On the pedestal there is a pair of metal strips which are fixed with a
screw to the base plate. Unscrew the strips from the base plate.
Then fix the strips to the FDD edges in the respective slot provided.
After this install the HDD on to the base plate of the pedestal with
the interface and power cable facing towards you. Screw the metal
strips to the base of pedestal. Connect the interface cable to the
IDE 24-pin male connector present on the rear side of the CPU unit.
Crosscheck with the label indicator. Also interface the power cable
to any one of 4-pin male connector provided on the rear side of the
CPU unit.
3.15 DC Power Supply Connection
•There are two DIN type female connectors on the rear side of the
CPU unit.One is 4-pin DIN and the other 8-pin DIN. Both of the
power cables must pass through the opening provided at the right-
hand side base of the pedestal. Crosscheck the connections on the
label indicator before plugging in the cable.
3.16 Installing the I/O cable cover
•Once all peripheral cables are attached to the I/O ports of the
system it is advise to cover the area with a I/O cable cover provide
along with the machine.
3.17 Installing the Back Cover on the Pedestal
•Once all the porting of the peripherals is completed, and the routing
of the cables is done properly. It is advise to cover the pedestal back
by the metal cover provided.
3.18 Installing the Hinge Cover
•Once the back cover is placed over the pedestal, it is advice to
cover the hinges with the round cover brackets. To fit this hinge
cover first press it over the hinge then push upward to lock the
same.
3.19 Keylock Installation
•There is one keylock provided on the front side of pedestal. The
function of this key is to provide a mechanical lock for the back
cover on the pedestal. Which acts as security for the HDD. So once
you have placed the back cover on the pedestal you have to switch
the key to lock position. Similarly, while opening the same you have
to first turn the key to un-lock position.

SYSTEM POWER-UP
4.1 Check the Input Power Supply
•Before you plug the power cord on to the AC inlet of the power
supply unit, please make sure the power switch is on correct voltage
either 115V or 230V to avoid the damage of the power supply unit.
•Check the main supply grounding.
•Check the electricity supply is protected by differential switch.
4.2 Switching“ON” the system
•After going through above steps, it is advice to switch on the system
with the switch provided.
4.3 Brightness Adjustment
•LCD display brightness can be adjusted by a rotary switch provided
on the front lower side of the CPU unit.
4.3 Software Installation
•Once the system is ready for operation you can install the
application software through Floppy Disk or by interfacing the CD-
ROM drive to the PC-104 interface (PCMCIA port) or by interfacing
the system in network and downloading the software from the
server.
