This document describes how to install the QLogic QLA2100 or QLA2100F host bus
adapter card in your server system and configure the card for use.
+DUGZDUH,QVWDOODWLRQ
To install the QLogic QLA2100 or QLA2100F host bus adapter card, perform the fol-
lowing steps:
1. Install the host bus adapter card in an available PCI slot.
2. After you install the card in the system, connect the Fibre Channel cable to con-
nector J1 on the QLA2100 or QLA2100F card.
3. Boot the system.
6RIWZDUH,QVWDOODWLRQ
To install the driver for the QLogic QLA2100 or QLA2100F host bus adapter card into a
system running the Microsoft®Windows NT ®operating system, perform the follow-
ing steps:
1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the SCSI Adapter icon.
The SCSI Adapter window appears.
3. Click the Drivers tab.
A list of all installed host adapters appears.
4. Click Add.
5. Click Have Disk.

6. Insert the QLogic drivers and firmware update diskette into the systems diskette
drive.
7. Type D?QW as the path to the driver and then click OK.
8. Select QLogic QLA2000/QLA2100 PCI-Fibre Channel Adapter from the list of
drivers and click OK.
9. When the following message appears, click OK to exit the Control Panel:

10. Click OK to reboot your system.

Your host adapter card is configured with the current version of the basic input-output
system (BIOS). If you need to update the cards BIOS, perform the following steps:
1. Insert the QLogic drivers and firmware update diskette into the systems diskette
drive and boot your system.
2. When the D? prompt appears, type FGELRVand press <Enter>.
3. Type TO[XWLOand press <Enter>.
A list appears showing the addresses of the host bus adapters installed in the
system.
4. Type the correct adapter address and press <Enter>.
5. Press <F> and then press <Enter> to flash the BIOS.
When the BIOS upgrade is successfully completed, the following message
appears:

6. Repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 for any other host bus adapters installed in the system.
7. After you finish updating the BIOS for all host bus adapter cards in the system,
you must turn off and then turn on the system for the changes to take effect.

As supplied by Dell, the nonvolatile random-access memory (NVRAM) on the QLogic
host bus adapter card is optimized for use with a Dell PowerVault 650F, 651F, or
630F redundant arrays of independent disks (RAID) storage system.
If you use the host bus adapter card with a PowerVault 250F or 251F JBOD storage
system or you need to restore the settings for use with a PowerVault 650F, 651F, or
630F RAID storage system, follow the instructions in the appropriate section.

If you are using the host bus adapter card with a Dell PowerVault 250F or 251F JBOD
storage system, perform the following steps to reconfigure the cards NVRAM
settings:
1. Insert the QLogic drivers and firmware update diskette into the systems diskette
drive and boot the system.
2. When the D? prompt appears, type FGQYUDP?MERGand press <Enter>.
3. Type TO[XWLOand press <Enter>.
A list appears showing the addresses of the host bus adapters installed in the
system.
4. Type the correct adapter address and press <Enter>.
5. Press <L> and then press <Enter> to write the NVRAM.
6. Repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 to update the NVRAM of any other host bus adapters
installed in the system.
7. After you finish updating the NVRAM for all host bus adapter cards in the system,
you must turn off and then turn on the system for the changes to take effect.

If you are using the host adapter card with a JBOD storage system and you need to
connect a RAID storage system to the card, perform the following steps to reconfig-
ure the cards NVRAM settings:
1. Insert the QLogic drivers and firmware update diskette into the systems diskette
drive and boot the system.
2. When the D? prompt appears, type FGQYUDP?UDLGand press <Enter>.
3. Type TO[XWLO and press <Enter>.
A list appears showing the addresses of the host bus adapters installed in the
system.
4. Type the correct adapter address and press <Enter>.
5. Press <L> and then press <Enter> to write the NVRAM.
6. Repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 to update the NVRAM of any other host bus adapters
installed in the system.

Ce document décrit le processus dinstallation de la carte adaptateur au bus de lhôte
QLogic QLA2100 ou QLA2100F dans votre système DellPowerEdgeet la confi-
guration de la carte pour son utilisation.

Pour installer la carte adaptateur au bus de lhôte QLogic QLA2100 ou QLA2100F, sui-
vez les étapes ci-après:
1. Installez la carte adaptateur au bus de lhôte en vous reportant au chapitre 8,
Installation des options de la carte système, du Guide dinstallation et de
dépannage de votre système.
2. Après avoir installé la carte dans le système, connectez le câble de canal en fibre
au connecteur J1 situé sur la carte QLA2100 ou QLA2100F.
3. Amorcez le système.

QLA2100F dans un système exécutant le système dexploitation Microsoft®
Windows NT ®, suivez les étapes ci-après:

cliquez sur Control Panel (Panneau de Configuration).
2. Double-cliquez sur licône SCSI Adapter (Carte SCSI).

3. Cliquez sur longlet Drivers (Pilotes).
Une liste de tous les adaptateurs à lhôte installés apparaît.
4. Cliquez sur Add (Ajouter).
5. Cliquez sur Have Disk (Disquette Fournie).
6. Insérez la Disquette de mise à jour de micrologiciel et de pilotes QLogic pour Dell
Computer Corporation PowerVault dans le lecteur de disquette du système.
7. Tapez D?QW comme chemin daccès au pilote, puis cliquez sur OK.
8. Sélectionnez QLogic QLA2000/QLA2100 PCI-Fibre Channel Adapter (Adapta-

dentrées/sorties de base (BIOS). Si vous devez mettre à jour le BIOS de la carte, sui-
vez les étapes ci-après:
1. Insérez la Disquette de mise à jour de micrologiciel et de pilotes QLogic pour Dell
Computer Corporation PowerVault dans le lecteur de disquette du système et
amorcez votre système.
2. Lorsque linvite D? apparaît, tapez FGELRVet appuyez sur <Entrée>.
3. Tapez TO[XWLOet appuyez sur <Entrée>.

Lorsquelle est livrée par Dell, la mémoire NVRAM (nonvolatile random-access

est optimisée pour une utilisation avec un système de stockage RAID (redundant
array of independent disks) 650F, 651F ou 630F Dell PowerVault.

In diesem Dokument wird beschrieben, wie die Host-Busadapterkarte QLogic
QLA2100 bzw. QLA2100F in das DellPowerEdge-System eingesetzt und für den
Einsatz konfiguriert wird.
+DUGZDUHLQVWDOODWLRQ
Führen Sie zur Installation der Host-Busadapterkarte QLogic QLA2100 bzw.
QLA2100F die folgenden Schritte aus:
1. Setzen Sie die Host-Busadapterkarte ein. Beachten Sie dabei die Hinweise in
Kapitel 8, Systemplatinenoptionen installieren, im Installations- und
Fehlerbeseitigungshandbuch für das System.
2. Schließen Sie das Faserkanalkabel nach dem Einsetzen der Karte in das System
an den Anschluß J1 auf der QLA2100- bzw. QLA2100F-Karte an.
3. Starten Sie das System.
6RIWZDUHLQVWDOODWLRQ
Führen Sie die folgenden Schritte aus, um den Treiber für die Host-Busadapterkarte
QLogic QLA2100 bzw. QLA2100F auf einem System zu installieren, auf dem das
Betriebssystem Microsoft®Windows NT ®ausgeführt wird:
1. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfläche Start, bewegen Sie den Cursor auf Settings
(Einstellungen), und klicken Sie dann auf Control Panel (Systemsteuerung).
2. Doppelklicken Sie auf das Symbol SCSI Adapter (SCSI-Adapter).
Das Fenster SCSI-Adapter wird angezeigt.

3. Klicken Sie auf die Registerkarte Drivers (Treiber).
Eine Liste aller installierten Hostadapter wird angezeigt.
4. Klicken Sie auf Add (Hinzufügen).
5. Klicken Sie auf Have Disk (Diskette).
6. Legen Sie die Diskette QLogic Drivers and Firmware Update Diskette for Dell
Computer Corporation PowerVault (QLogic-Treiber und -Firmware 
Aktualisierungsdiskette für Dell Computer Corporation PowerVault) in das
Diskettenlaufwerk des Systems ein.
7. Geben Sie D?QW als Pfad für den Treiber ein, und klicken Sie dann auf OK, um
fortzufahren.
8. Wählen Sie QLogic QLA2000/QLA2100 PCI-Fibre Channel Adapter (QLogic
QLA2000/QLA2100 PCI-Faserkanaladapter) in der Treiberliste aus, und klicken
Sie auf OK.
9. Wenn die folgende Meldung eingeblendet wird, klicken Sie auf OK, um die

Die Hostadapterkarte ist mit der aktuellen Version des BIOS (Basic Input-Output
System [Allgemeines Eingabe-/Ausgabesystem]) konfiguriert. Führen Sie die folgen-
den Schritte aus, wenn das BIOS der Karte einmal aktualisiert werden muß:
1. Legen Sie die Diskette QLogic Drivers and Firmware Update Diskette for Dell
Computer Corporation PowerVault (QLogic-Treiber und -Firmware 
Aktualisierungsdiskette für Dell Computer Corporation PowerVault) in das
Diskettenlaufwerk des Systems ein, und starten Sie das System.
2. Geben Sie an der Eingabeaufforderung D? den Befehl FGELRVein, und
drücken Sie <Eingabe>.

3. Geben Sie TO[XWLOein, und drücken Sie <Eingabe>.
Eine Liste mit den Adressen der Host-Busadapter, die auf dem System installiert
sind, wird eingeblendet.
4. Geben Sie die zutreffende Adapteradresse ein, und drücken Sie <Eingabe>.
5. Wählen Sie <F>, und drücken Sie <Eingabe>, um das BIOS zu aktualisieren.
Nachdem die BIOS-Aktualisierung erfolgreich abgeschlossen wurde, wird
folgende Meldung angezeigt:

6. Wiederholen Sie die Schritte 3, 4 und 5 für alle weiteren Host-Busadapter, die auf
dem System installiert sind.
7. Nachdem das BIOS für alle auf dem System vorhandenen Host-Busadapterkar-
ten aktualisiert wurde, muß das System aus- und dann wieder eingeschaltet wer-
den, damit die Änderungen wirksam werden.

Der NVRAM-Speicher (Nonvolatile Random-Access Memory [Nicht flüchtiges RAM])
auf der von Dell ausgelieferten QLogic Host-Busadapterkarte wurde für den Einsatz
mit den RAID-Speichersystemen (Redundant Arrays of Independent Disks [Redun-
dante Anordnung unabhängiger Festplatten]) Dell PowerVault 650F, 651F bzw.
630F optimiert.
Wenn die Host-Busadapterkarte mit einem Speichersystem des Typs PowerVault
250F oder 251F JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks [Ein paar Festplatten]) eingesetzt
werden soll oder die Einstellungen für ein RAID-Speichersystem des Typs Dell
PowerVault 650F, 651F bzw. 630F wiederhergestellt werden sollen, folgen Sie den
Anweisungen in den entsprechenden Abschnitten.

Wenn Sie die Host-Busadapterkarte mit einem Speichersystem des Typs Dell
PowerVault 250F oder 251F JBOD verwenden, sollten Sie die folgenden Schritte
ausführen, um die NVRAM-Einstellungen der Karte neu zu konfigurieren:
1. Legen Sie die Diskette QLogic Drivers and Firmware Update Diskette for Dell

Wenn Sie die Hostadapterkarte mit einem JBOD-Speichersystem verwendet haben

uso.

Para instalar la tarjeta adaptadora de bus anfitrión QLogic QLA2100 ó QLA2100F, rea-
lice los pasos siguientes:
1. Instale la tarjeta adaptadora de bus anfitrión, consultando el capítulo 8, Instala-
ción de las opciones de la tarjeta base, en la Guía de instalación y solución de
problemas de su sistema.
2. Después de instalar la tarjeta en el sistema, conecte el cable del canal de fibra al
conector J1 en la tarjeta QLA2100 ó QLA2100F.
3. Inicialice el sistema.
