Dell PowerEdge R320 User manual

The Dell PowerEdge R320 is an enterprise-class,
one-socket, 1U rack-mount server designed to
deliver performance, redundancy and value in a
dense chassis. Addressing the growing need for
virtualization, the R320 oers scalable processor
performance, a large memory footprint and
capacity for up to eight hard drives. Performance
per cost, along with conguration exibility,
storage connectivity and straightforward systems
management make the R320 highly appealing to
hosting providers. Consistent worldwide support
makes the R320 the perfect choice for multinational
businesses and organizations.
Enterprise features, scalability and value
The R320 features the scalable performance of the
Intel®Xeon® processor E5-2400 and E5-2400 v2
product families with essential Intel RAS features.
Six DIMMs and two PCI Express®(PCIe) slots provide
a substantial memory footprint and wide I/O
bandwidth for memory-sensitive applications and
databases. These features likwise enable the R320 to
support consolidated and virtualized environments.
To protect virtualized workloads, the R320 oers
dual SD cards, making hypervisors redundant and
failsafe. Other reliability and availability features
include up to four 3.5-inch or eight 2.5-inch hot-
plug hard drives, both hardware and software RAID
options and redundant, hot-plug power supplies.
Ideal for your applications
The R320 is an excellent t for web, le and
print serving as well as smaller scale hosting and
e-commerce, retail server, workgroup server and
smaller scale virtualization in small to medium
business locations, and departmental and remote
sites of large businesses and public organizations.
Enterprise-class network options
The R320 has advanced network options, carrying
multiple third-party brands and adapter types with
10GbE NIC, 10GbE FCoE and Fibre Channel 8Gb
HBA.
Enterprise-wide systems
management
PowerEdge embedded management technology,
Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller 7 (iDRAC7)
with Lifecycle Controller, helps IT administrators
manage Dell servers in physical, virtual, local and
remote environments — agent-free or with a
systems management software agent installed.
iDRAC7 Enterprise features include a multi-admin
virtual console, virtual media and remote le share
which enable IT admins to operate servers “as if they
were there,” ensuring secure access to servers from
anywhere in the world.
OpenManage™Essentials,a comprehensive
monitoring and management console available
as a no-charge software download, simplies and
automates basic hardware management tasks while
Dell SupportAssist helps you maintain a healthy and
productive environment.
