5. Mounting the WS4965
Mounting the WS4965 in eed Switch Mode
• P ace the mounting bracket in the position determined in the Enro ing, Pro-
gramming P acement step. Secure the bracket to the door frame using the two
screws provided. See Figure B.
• “Snap” the sensor in p ace.
• To re ease bracket: Remove the front cover. Push the tab (see Figure B) with a
sma screwdriver and s ide the WS4965 down.
• A ign one end of the magnet with the notch on the side of WS4965 housing.
See Figure A.
• Mount the magnet a maximum of 1/2" (1.27cm) from the WS4965 using
the screws provided. If necessary use the spacers provided. See Figure C.
• Mount magnet: Open and c ose the door/window to ensure that there is no
interference.
Note: Only one magnet can be used for each WS4 65. The contact shall
be installed so that a door or window cannot be opened more than 2
inches (51 mm) without causing an alarm condition.
Mounting the WS4965 in Tilt Switch Mode
Remove Jumper 3 (JP3) for “ti t switch” operation.
For the ti t switch to be in the c osed position, mount the WS4965 in the vertica position, with the battery ocated on the bottom. Once the garage
door is open, the ti t switch wi activate and generate a transmission. See Figure D.
The WS4965 can be programmed to wait 1 minute after the ti t switch activates before it transmits the a arm. This is usefu for the garage doors
which require onger entry de ay time. To program this feature, remove Jumper 2 (JP2).
Notes: The reed switch is deactivated when using the tilt function.
By carefully moving the tilt switch up or down, the degree of motion required to cause an alarm can be adjusted.
Do not permanently mount the WS4 65 until the Placement Test has been successfully passed.
Note: This mode is not to be used in UL listed installations.
6. External Contacts: The WS4965 has 2 norma y c osed contact termina s. These can be used for additiona hardwired wired contacts or other dry con-
tact switches. Connect the externa devices to the contact termina s as per the manufacturers instructions. The maximum wire run from the externa con-
tacts must not exceed 25ft (7.6m).
Note:For UL Installation, the external contacts and WS4 65 must be in the same room.
7. Testing: Verify Sensor operation, Tamper operation and Supervisory Operation. Operation of these features is exp ained be ow.
WS4965 Operation:
•Tamper Switch: The WS4965 comes equipped with case tamper detection. If the cover is removed, the WS4965 wi report a zone tamper to the
contro pane . Upon tamper, a 3 seria numbers wi report a tamper transmission.
•Supervision: The WS4965 sends a periodic supervisory transmission to the pane . If the pane fai s to receive a transmission within the prepro-
grammed period (refer to receiver manua for supervisory window), it wi indicate a fau t on the keypad. A three seria numbers wi transmit a
separate supervisory signa to the receiver.
•Low-Battery LED Indicator: There is a ow-battery LED indicator on the WS4965. It wi f ash at 10 second interva s when a ow battery con-
dition is detected and transmitted to pane . This wi provide visua identification of the unit that requires a battery change.
•Battery eplacement: The WS4965 requires one CR123A ithium battery. To rep ace the battery, remove the cover by pressing on the end and
ifting it up. Use care when insta ing the battery and observe the correct po arity. Dispose of used battery promptly. Keep away from children. Do
not disassemble and do not dispose of in fire.
Caution: The battery used in this device may present a fire or chemica burn hazard if mistreated. Do not recharge, disassemb e, heat above
100°C (212°F) or dispose of in fire. Rep ace battery with Panasonic CR123A on y. Use of another battery may present a risk of fire or exp osion.
WARNING!: Battery may explode if mistreated. Do not recharge, disassem le or dispose of in fire.
