BothPCorMacusersmustusetheUSB cabletoconnecttheplayerandcomputer
before you can download or upload musicfilestothe computer.
1Connectthesmaller plug oftheUSBcabletothe mini-USB portontheplayerasshown.
Plug onlyfitsone way,ifthe plug doesnotmatchthe mini-USB port, don’tforceit,
justreverseitand tryagain.
2Connect the larger plug ofthe USB cabletoanyavailableUSB port on your computer.
Firsttimeconnectionoftheplayertothecomputerwith
WindowsMe,2000,or XP,thecomputerwilldetect “New
Hardware”andsoftwaredriverswillbeinstalledbyWindows
automatically.
3Atthe sametime,the player will displaythe “USB”Markon
the player’sLCD display.

2Click “MyComputer”icon on your Windowsdesktop,and itwill showup asa “Removable
Disk”on the Desktop of the Windows.

NOTE:ThisplayerdoesnotsupportDRM-protected files(Suchasmusicdownloaded
fromsomeonlinemusicstores).
2-5.Disconnecting theAudio Player fromYourComputer
For WindowsMe/2000/XP users,the playercan be disconnected safelyasfollows:
1Click the “SafelyRemoveHardware”icon inthe WindowsToolbar (on therightbottom
corner nearthe clock icon on yourcomputer).
2Fromthe listof Hardware Devices,select the player.
3Click “Stop”button.
4Click “OK”toconfirm.
5Click “Close”after finished.
6Now, itissafetodisconnectthe player.
NOTE:Donotunplug the Player whilethere isdatatransferring between the player and the
computerorsomedatamaybe lost.

4.Selectthe foldersor songsor filesyou wanttocopytoyour MP-400.
5.After you havehighlighted the filesyou wanttocopy,click on “edit”(nexttofileon
top),clickon “copytofolder”(belowedit).
6.Find the removabledisc (suchasE:)andclick on ittohighlightitfor copying.

3-6.AdjustingEqualizer and PlayModes
The 6-band equalizer can let you personalizeyour favoritesoundeffectofthe player during play.
When you playthe music:
1.Press the Equalizer button toselectfromthe 6-band EQ: normal(nodislay),
pop,rock,jazz,classic,bass

2.Press the M-button ashorttimetoselectfromthe4-mode playback sequence:
Normal:Plays all the songsinsequence,and the player will be automaticallyturned
off when all thesongshavebeen played.
Random:Plays allthe songsinrandomorder,and the player will be automatically
turnedoff when all thesongshavebeen played.
Repeat one:Plays one songover and over.
Repeat all:Plays all the songsthen repeatsthemover again,until youpress STOP
or OFF.

1.Turn off the player. Open the back cover, see(1) indiagram.
2.Confirmthe cardisSD/MMCtype(maximumsize512MB)and insertthe cardwithcorrect
direction,see (2) indiagram.
3.Turnontheplayer. Inthestopmode,pressand holdthe Memoryselection
button(See Fig.1-3-1DeviceOverview-(5) onpage4)toselectthe SD/MMCcard.
2.Click okon your computer’smouseand Windowsexplorer will open (ormanuallyopen
Windowsexplorer).
3.Alisting offileson your MP-400 (usuallydriveE:\ or F:\ or G:\ )will be shown.
NOTE: TheexternalSD/MMCcard willneedmore batterycurrenttoboot,soplease
change anewbatteryifyou can’tpoweron when you are using theexternalSD/
MMCcard.

4.Selectthe songsor filesyou wanttodelete,thiscan be 1file(highlighted inadarker
color),or manyfiles(manyare highlighted).Tohighlightmanyfiles, holddownthe shift
button whilepressingthedownarrowonyourcomputer.Toselectallthe filesinadirectory,
press and holddownthe Ctrlbuttonthen press the Abutton,thiswill highlight(darken all
the files).
5.After you havehighlighted the filesyou wanttodelete,press the DELETEbutton on the
keyboard ofthe computer,the computer will ask you ifyou are sure todeletethe selected
files,select “YES ”.

Ifyoualsowanttodownloadnewfilesor musicintoyourMP-400playerafter step3-8,
pleasedothefollowing:
NOTE: You can deletethe Demosongswhichare inthe MP3player (or anysongsor files)
if you don’tlikethemand replacethemwithother songsyou like.
2.Selectthe foldersor songsor files
youwant tocopytoyourMP-400.
3.After you havehighlighted the
filesyou wanttocopy,click on
edit(next tofileon top), click on
copytofolder(belowedit).
4.Find theremovabledisc(suchas
E:)and click on ittohighlightit
for copying.
5.The filethatiscopying toyour
MP-400 will show.
6.After this,yourcopyingis
completed and your musicisnow
copied toyour player.
1.Gotothe folder thatcontainsyour filesor musicorbygoing up one leveltoshow
alldirectories,thenselecttheproper directoryletter.

Tocheck the storageoftheplayer,firstconnectthe playertothecomputer.Two “Removable
Disk”iconswillshowup inWindowsDesktop. MP-400 isthe internalflashmemorydisk,
RemovableDisk isthe SD/MMCdisk. Highlight thedisc you want tocheck. Right click on
the mouse(pressthe mouserightbutton) and then click on “Properties”,then you can
see the storage information ofthisplayer.
