3When the cableis properlyconnected and the computer successfullyrecognizes the
MP-456,theplayer willdisplay “READY”on the LCD display.
4Youarenow ready tocopy musicfiles ordata totheplayer.Itwilldisplay “WRITING”
when downloading (when you copy music filesfrom computer to player), and displays
“READING”when uploading(when you copy filesfrom playertocomputer).
Both PC or Macusersmustusethe USBcable(included) to connect theplayerand
computerbeforeyoucandownloadorupload musicfiles tothecomputer.
1ConnectthesmallerplugoftheUSBcable tothemini-USB port on the playerasshown.
Plug only fitsoneway,iftheplugdoes not matchthemini-USBport, don’tforce it,
justreverseitandtryagain.

memory. “Removable Disk”is SD/
MMCmemorycard. When SD/MMC
cardisinstalled, you can openit
andtransfer musicor datato it.
4.Just simplycopyandpaste files
totheplayer or deletethefiles by
using commonWindowsoperation
orFile Manager.
5When youhave finishedcopying
the files, see chapter 2-6.

download the musicto the computerandthencopy the musicto the MP3 player.
NOTE3: This playercan also be used as a removable drive (also knownas a USBflash
drive). You candrag and dropfilesinto the player.(Upto the limitof about
512MBforinternalmemoryor the capacityof the installedSD/MMCcard.)
NOTE 4: IfyouareunabletotransferfilestotheSD/MMCcardandyouarecertain
there’savailable space, try copying thefiles to afolder instead of the root
directory.

ForWindows Me/2000/XPusers, theplayer can bedisconnected safelyas follows:
1.Click the “Safely RemoveHardware”iconin the Windows Toolbar (on the rightbottom
cornerneartheclock iconon yourcomputer).
2.From the list of Hardware Devices,select the player.
3.Click “Stop”button.
4.Click “OK”to confirm.
5.Click “Close”afterfinished.
6.Now,it issafetodisconnect the player.
NOTE: Donotunplug the Player whilethere isdata transferring between the player and the
computerorsomedata may belost.

•Whenyouturn ontheplayer,itwillauto playback built-inmemory’smusic if you have
alreadycopied any music into your MP3 player (or it will play the 2 demo songsincluded).
•Toadjust the Volume, pressthe VOL–or VOL+ button.
•Ifan SD/MMC card is already inserted into the
MP3 player,when youturn onthe player,it will
playthe music onthe card automatically,refer
to 3-6. Using an ExternalSD/MMCMemoryCard
on page 17.
3-4. Locking the Buttons
Toprevent accidental pressing of the buttons, slidethelock
button tothelockedposition, the lock icon will appearin
thedisplay.Allthe buttonswillbe locked and disabled till
youslide thelockbuttontotheunlockedposition.

MODE switchcanperformmore than one function,aquickpress or alongholdingpress

1.Skip andSearchfunction.
a.Duringplay,to skip totheprevioustrack,turntheMODE switch totheleft. Too
rewindthemusic, turnleftandhold theMODE switch .
b.Duringplay,to skip tothenexttrack,turnMODE switch totheright. Tofast
forwardthemusic, turn rightandhold theMODE switch .
2.Menuoperation
a.Toenter the setupmenu, pressandhold the MODE switch until themenuappears.
b.Toselect the menu option, turntheMODEswitchleftorright.
c.Toconfirmtheselection, presstheMODE switch.
d.Toexitthesetup menu, pressandhold the MODE switch.
3.Repeatplayback: duringplay,presstheMODE switch.
4.Playmode selection: Instop mode,press the MODE switch.

1.Turn offthe player.Open the backcover,see diagram below.
2.Confirm the card is SD/MMC type and insert the card correctlyas indicated in the
diagram,thenclose thebatterycover box.
NOTE1: TheexternalSD/MMCcardrequires afully charged orfresh battery to operate,
so please changetoanew battery if youcan’tpoweronwhenyouareusing
theexternal SD/MMCcard.
3.Turnonthe player.ItwillplaythemusicontheSD/MMCcardautomatically,the
memoryicon will show in thedisplay(card play).
4.If you wantto listen tothemusic on the built-in flashmemory,please pressandhold
theMODEswitchtoenter themenuand then turn theMODEswitchtotheleftto
selectthe FLASHMUSIC, press the MODEswitch toconfirm.The memoryicon
changesto .PressthePLAY buttonto starttoplaythemusic on the built-in
flash memory.

NOTE2: Be sureto turnofftheMP3player before insertingor removingtheSD/MMC
card. Ifyour set ison,itmaycause some data to belost orthesettofreeze
orbecome inoperative.If thisshould happen, please take out the battery for
1minute, thenreplaceit and restart the MP3 player.

3-7.SelectingPlayback Mode
You can simplypress theMODE switchto select repeat mode REPEATONEor REPEAT
ALLduring play,or press theMODEswitch repeatedly in stop statustoselect other
playback mode. Then press thePLAYbuttonto start theplayback. Theplayback modes
are:
1.REPEATONE

:Plays one songoverandover..
2.REPEATALL :Plays all the songsoverandover..
3.SHUFFLE

:Playsall thesongs in randomorder..
4.SHUFFLE and REPEAT

:Plays all the songs in random order,then repeats
themover again,until you pressSTOP.
5.PREVIEW[Pre]: Playsthefirst 10secondsofeachsong in sequence.
6.Normalplayback,no mark: Plays all the songs in sequence, and theplayer will be
automaticallyturnedoff when all the songshave been played.

Youcanalso selecttheplayback mode in the SETUPmenu.
1.Press andhold theMODE switchtoenter the menu,thenturn the MODE switch left
orrightrepeatedlyto select SET.
2.Press the MODE switch toopentheSETmenu.
3.TurntheMODE switchleft orright to selectPLAYMODE, and thenpress the MODE
switch to open the PLAYMODE submenu.
4.TurntheMODE switchleft orright toselecttheplaybackmode.
5.Toexit themenu, pressandhold theMODE switchtoconfirm and return tothemusic
play mode.

2.Turn the MODE switch left or rightto select MIC.
3.Press the MODE switch, startto record.
4.During record, press buttontopause record, press buttonagain to continue
recording.

thelast menu.
NOTE: TheRecord filewillbesaved asVXXX.WAV.
