How it all works.
1. Get to know the product.
Invite family or friends over, have a good look through the content together and discuss how
many gadgets you have around the home that require batteries. More than you fi rst thought,
right? Next, choose devices that you use frequently (a game console controller or digital
camera perhaps) and replace existing batteries with your new rechargeables! This handbook
will help you to integrate this Duracell charger into your everyday life so you can better
assess its capabilities and features, as well as tell your friends and family about it too.
Taking photos:
We love photos! Share the products you’re using to try the batteries out via the ‘Submit
Conversation Report’ tool. Simply go to http://savvycircle.co.uk/duracell and log in to
your dashboard. We’ll post them to the project gallery for all to see.
2. Your impressions and opinion.
Duracell is listening. This is the perfect opportunity to get your voice heard. Express
your thoughts, ideas and give feedback on this charger during the eight-week project by
participating in three surveys:
• The online starter survey at the beginning of the project
• The half-time online survey in the middle of the project
• The fi nal online survey at the end of the project
We’ll email you as soon as these surveys are ready for you – we can’t wait to hear about
your experiences!
In this day and age, most of us read online reviews to help us choose the right products for
us. As a Duracell expert with insider information, this is your chance to help others who are
thinking of buying a charger, so make sure your voice is heard!

The message to review:
The Duracell charger
is high quality, fast and
convenient to charge
my key devices.
Ideas for spreading the word.
There are loads of ways for you to spread the word amongst your friends, family and
colleagues. Here are just a few suggestions for you to consider.
Get Gaming!
The Game of Charge.
Included in your starter kits is a ‘Tournament’
Game Sheet. The idea is simple, we’ve
provided you with the game structure and rules,
all you need to do is:
1. Decide which device you want to use to play
the tournament. A few ideas we’ve had are the
Wii, a remote controlled car or
even a camera (if you wanted to get creative!). The only condition is that the device you choose
must require either an AA or AAA battery to operate – and you should use the rechargeable
batteries included within your starter kit.
2. Select your players! To play our game you’ll ideally need eight players, so get your friends and
family over to take part in the big match. (Don’t miss out on the opportunity to tell them all about
the new charger you’re testing!)
Are you convinced? Then share your experien-
ces with friends and family!

PROJECT INFORMATION
16
17
Now you have selected your players – let the games begin.
Make sure that you have your Duracell charger close at hand to ensure you can quickly recharge
your batteries in between rounds – we think you might need to!
How to play:
Using the Tournament Game Sheet included
in your starter kits, enter a players name into
each of the eight ‘player’ boxes shown under the
heading ‘Round 1’.
ROUND 1 - The Qualifi ers!
Players compete against each other; player 1
will battle player 2, player 3 vs. player 4, player 5 against player 6 and fi nally player 7 will take
on player 8, until all players have played one game. There can be no ties – each game must
produce one clear winner. Don’t forget to cheer on your players!
ROUND 2 - The Semi-Finals.
Repeat the above for the semi-fi nalists, and then enter the two winners’ names into the ‘player’
boxes under the heading ‘Round 3’. Tensions might rise, but keep cool with your charger at hand.
You wouldn’t want a cliff-hanger moment just as the battle heats up!
ROUND 3 - The Final!
Following the same rules as in previous rounds the two remaining players compete for victory!
Presentation of certifi cates.
No win should go unrewarded so ensure your star player gets the recognition they deserve.
Download a winner’s certifi cate from the product page (there are 3 different ones to choose
from) and let the ceremony commence.
A few more ideas…
Duracell photo competition:
Once our project gets underway and we’ve all had a few weeks to
get to grips with the Duracell charger, we’ll be launching our photo
competition via the project blog. With the Duracell charger, you’ll
always have charged batteries to hand for when your devices
need them. With this in mind, we want to see which of your
devices you’ve been using, and who you’ve been using them
with!
Competition information:
We’ll be announcing the start of the photo competition on the
project blog. We publish a number of new blog posts every week,
so make sure you keep an eye on any new information that might
appear.
Remember: To submit pics, just send them in attached to a
conversation report, along with a short description of what’s
going on in your photo and how many people it reached.
Once this contest has ended we’ll go through the submissions
and reveal the candidates in a slideshow on the blog a few
weeks later. Then, all those taking part in our Duracell project will
be able to log in and decide which photo is their favourite.
The winner of our photo competition will win an exclusive prize,
courtesy of the Duracell team. More information on this will be
provided on the project blog as the competition begins.

Conversation starters.
Common misconceptions run abundant but with this insider information, you can change
a few minds.
Have you thought the
following?
True or False? Disposables are full, with
rechargeables, you just don‘t know.
Myth or Truth? They don‘t hold their charge as
long each time you charge them.
Lazy or Smarty? It‘s easier to grab what I need
from the drawer than to remember to charge
them.
Insider Information Alert!
False. Duracell Rechargeable batteries can retain power for up to 6 months while not in use.
Myth busted! They stay charged longer and have to be recharged less often.
Smarty! Your Duracell charger does the hard work so you can enjoy your devices for longer.
Your charger is also designed specifi cally to charge cells for gadgets popular with families,
including digital cameras, portable gaming devices, and more...
Why not share these little nuggets of info in an online review?
What if we told you Duracell surpasses safety
features in their chargers over competitors?
PROJECT INFORMATION
The genius behind the brand.
The story of Duracell begins in the early 1920’s with an inventive scientist named Samuel
Ruben and an eager manufacturer of tungsten fi lament wire named Philip Rogers Mallory.
It all began...
1920s: Ruben came to the P.R. Mallory Company
for equipment for an experiment and scientifi c bin-
ding began. Ruben and Mallory saw an opportunity:
uniting the one’s inventive genius with the other’s
manufacturing muscle.
A self-taught scientist and inventor, Ruben had
a passion for the invention. Did you know he fi led over 300 different patents!?
Disenchanted with his work on Wall Street, Mallory had a passion to “make things” – and bring
tangible products to market. He started the PR Mallory Company in 1916 – making tungsten
fi lament wires.
Batteries Included!
Prior to WWII: Supplied metallurgical products & radio compo-
nents to the military.
WWII: Ruben invented the “Mallory Tropical Battery,” superior
to zinc carbon cells and durable enough for harsh, wartime
climates.
For a while: Mallory Tropical Batteries were used in fl ashlights,
mine-detectors and walkie-talkies.
After WWII: Mallory developed the fi rst non-military battery - a Mercury Hearing Aid cell.
The 1950s: The transistor created an electronics boom, giving rise to portable devices like toys,
hearing aids and radios. Ruben improved alkaline manganese batteries making them more dura-
ble, compact and longer lasting.
Kodak Moment: Did you know a Mallory alkaline powered the fi rst Eastman Kodak ‘Instamatic
Camera‘ and came included with every camera? And then...
The bedrock of Duracell

P&G: The Company.
The Duracell brand is owned by the Procter & Gamble
company, which happens to own a large “family” of
brands in the UK.
Whether for cosmetics and shaving, home or health: good brand-
named products make life a little easier every day. Many of the
products we trust come from Procter & Gamble.
Procter & Gamble has been around since 1837, when two Europeans, William Procter
and James Gamble, founded the company in Ohio, USA. Since then, the company’s 175 year
history has been distinguished by its innovations and strong brands.
P&G, the company behind
strong brands.
P&G products are known for their quality.
Around 4.6 billion times per day, people from all over the world come in contact with Procter &
Gamble brands. In nine out of ten households there is at least one product from P&G.
From the Fairy baby to the Duracell bunny: The brands from P&G are familiar to many people
from the media. Procter & Gamble’s goal is to make people’s lives a little more enjoyable – one
day at a time. For new product development and product enhancements, P&G place high value
on sustainability: The company cultivates their brands with the following generations in mind,
