Introduction
ABOUT ////////
E-XTEQ is a battery diagnostic tool and equipment manufacturer with a broad
spectrum of knowledge and understanding of battery technology for Industrial, OEM
and Aftermarket Maintenance including EV/HEV applications.
Our mission is to be a passionate global leader of innovative measurement solutions
by providing premium testing equipment and unsurpassed services to our valued
customers and partners.
The DS One is a handheld tester, providing a customizable solution to diagnose 12V
lead batteries. The DS One is able to provide the State of charge (SOC) and State of
health (SOH) of a 12V lead battery whether on-board or outside the vehicle.
Its ergonomics and color interface, available in 32 languages, have been specially
designed for the after-market environment, and will allow the user to master the
equipment without any special training.
The integration of customers’ database simplies its use and the monitoring of the
procedures.
All the tests and results are stored in the device to guarantee complete traceability of
job history.
Different measuring devices, integrated or available as accessories (connected
through dedicated inputs), enable the DS One to provide additional information,
necessary for the vehicle diagnostic.

For your security, please read the safety guidelines carefully.
This section indicates the areas that need to be protected in order to prevent harm
to the user of this equipment, damage to property and to enable proper use of this
product.
MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE ////////
Keep this product dry. Do not expose the DS One to rain, snow or other moisture.
Discontinue use and contact technical support if an overheat event has occurred, or
if corrosion or deterioration has been identied in the cables or other parts of the
product.
BEFORE USE ////////
Keep the exterior clean and free of dust. Do not disassemble or modify the main unit
as it may cause an electrical short or re. To reduce the risk of electrical shortage,
unplug the AC power plug before cleaning and maintenance.
Extreme caution: Keep liquids and metallic tools away from the DS One while
operating.
When operating the equipment make sure the surface is dry and clean to minimize
any risks.
Batteries contain chemicals that may generate explosive
gases. Before handling the battery, remove all metal
accessories such as rings, bracelets and necklaces.
Short circuit at battery terminals may cause burns.
Do not place batteries near ames or other heat sources.
Battery uids are highly corrosive. If the battery uid gets on
your skin or clothes, immediately wash with soap and water. If
electrolyte gets in your eyes, immediately ush with cold water
for at least 10 minutes and seek medical attention.

USAGE PRECAUTIONS ////////
Do not use extension cords as there is a risk of re and electrical shortage. If usage is
necessary, check that the extension cord has the following:
1. Identical plug, cable size and the same electrical wiring as the DS One.
2. Make sure the equipment is securely connected before use.
When unplugging the cord from the outlet, hold the plug itself to avoid damaging
the plug or power cord. Pulling the cord may cause the cable plug to break. Replace
power cord immediately if damaged.
It is recommended to check your product annually. Please contact the manufacturer
for a complete check and periodic calibration.
DISASSEMBLY/DAMAGE/REMOVAL ////////
Do not disassemble the product or damage or remove the stickers or labels on the
product. If the product’s case has been disassembled or damaged by the user, all
warranties will be void. Always contact a designated E-XTEQ Service Center for
repairs.
Do not insert metallic objects into the unit to avoid electric shock, re, short circuit,
possible leaking of harmful substances and personal injuries. Do not store the
product in a wet or humid place. Always store the product in a dry place.
CLEANING THE PRODUCT ////////
It is recommended that you clean the product by wiping it gently using a soft cloth.
Do not use water, chemical substances or detergents. They may cause discoloration
or corrosion to the product’s exterior and may cause a re or electric shock.

Voltage/Capacity: 3,7V / 3000mAh
Recommended use: Charge with specic charger according to product specication.
Charge with CC/CV model.
When not using cell for long periods of time, remove it from the equipment and
store in a place with low humidity and low temperature. Batteries have life cycles. If
cell powers equipment a much shorter time than usual, please replace the cell with a
new one. Battery would be over-discharged by its self-discharge characteristics if the
battery is not used for a long time. In order to prevent over-discharging, the battery
shall be charged periodically to maintain between 3.7V and 3.99V/cell.
Restriction on use: Reverse charging is prohibited, for it will deteriorate the cell
performance and lead to safety issues such as heat and leakage. Stop using the cell
if abnormal heat, odor, discoloration, deformation or abnormal condition is detected
during use, charge, or storage. Do not put battery into a microwave oven, dryer, or
high-pressure container.
It is prohibited to use the battery close to re or in areas where temperatures are
above 45°C. Also, do not charge / discharge in such conditions.

Please review the safety guidelines in this manual before using the DS One.
When unplugging the DS One, pull on the plug itself rather than the cord to reduce
the risk of damaging the power plug or cord.
The DS One is designed for indoor use. Use outside in dry weather only.

JOB STORAGE ////////
The DS One has expandable storage through an SD card located on the right side of
the tool inside the silicone protective shell.
The tool comes with a 16 GB removable SD card.

Acceptable sizes for replacements are 4GB, 8GB and 16GB formatted with FAT32 le
system.

Small Kelvin Clamp Assembly with
4.59 ft/1.4m Cables.
The cable will be used to connect
the battery to the DS One.

POSITIONING OF THE CLAMPS ////////
To enable a reliable measurement be careful when positioning the clamps to ensure
that the four jaws are in contact with the battery plots.
Be advised that if it is not the case all measurement will be distorted.
Jaws of both clamps are not in contact.
All jaws are in contact.

CONNECTOR LONGEVITY ///////
The cable connector can be removed but we advise not to remove it (excepted for
replacement purposes) as the DSONE and its case are designed to have the clamps
permanently attached.
For optimal durability put the DSONE back in its case after use with the cable
attached to it as shown.
To ensure maximal longevity of your DSONE be careful
not to twist the cable connector as it is not designed for this purpose.
DS ONE in his case. Do not rotate this connector.
HYBRID VEHICLES ///////
Some hybrid vehicles are equipped with an auxiliary battery, in some cases must be
disconnected beforehand.
To know the right procedure please refer to your manufacturer’s documentation.

POWER CABLE CONNECTION AND POWER ON ////////
DS One is equipped with a Lithium-Ion Polymer Rechargeable Battery. To recharge
its internal Li-Po battery, the DS One is equipped with a transformer (110-220V) and
worldwide power adapters.
Voltage 100 – 240 V
Frequency 50/60 Hz
Consumption 0,3A Maximum
Before using the DS One for the rst time, it is recommended to fully charge the
internal battery. When the DS One is connected to a power supply, it will start
automatically.
Connect the USB B
side power cable to
the DS One.
Connect the USB A
side power cable to a
USB port.
Or use the switching
adapter by putting
the corresponding
plug adapter for your
installation.
Connect the USB
socket A to this one.
Plug into a standard
electrical socket.
When the battery is full, the logo on the DS One display will change from charging to full.
It is recommended to charge before use.
BATTERY CABLE CLAMPS CONNECTION ////////
Connect the clamps on the side of the remote.
To connect the clamps on the side of the remote, position
the connector, then push it lightly in position and screw it
on. The connector has only one position, the angle of the
cable must be towards the bottom of the DS One.

OPTIMUS ////////
Optimus installation
All diagnostic data (jobs) performed by DS One are stored and can also be uploaded
into a dedicated program: OPTIMUS.
When a new software update is released, OPTIMUS will automatically propose to
update the DS One when it is connected via its dedicated USB cable.
To download OPTIMUS, open a web page on the computer and go to the web site:
http://e-xteq.com.
Click on the DOWNLOAD tab.
Then click on “Download OPTIMUS”.

Fill in all the empty elds, click on “I’m not a robot” then “Register”.
An internet page will open with your settings.
Meanwhile, you will receive an e-mail to conrm your address.
It’s very important to conrm your e-mail address by clicking on the link
received (If the link isn’t clickable from the e-mail body, copy and paste in
a web browser). Without the conrmation, there will be no possibility to
reset the password (“Forget your password?” on Optimus).
The window below will inform that your email has been conrmed.

OPTIMUS ////////
Using Optimus
Depending on the conguration of your computer installation, it may be
necessary to create an authorization to our ARGOS cloud IP Address:
35.204.186.65.
You can now use OPTIMUS, using your credentials.
You will then have access to your dashboard.
When connecting your tool, it will appear in « Connected Devices ». All the recorded
jobs les will be transferred automatically to the ARGOS server.
Clicking on the image of the product will give you access to its own dashboard.

OPTIMUS ////////
If a new software update is available, this update will be proposed. If the latest
version is already installed, “Your device is up to date” will be displayed.
Job history can be found under the “Jobs” tab. They can be ltered and exported
into a CSV le.
“Apply lter” will show a list of jobs. Click on the job to see the detail. It is possible to
generate a PDF le.
When leaving Optimus, please click the eject button to be able to get out
of the USB connect mode.

UPDATE ////////
Optimus software
DS One is delivered with a Software Installation Guide (OPTIMUS).
Optimus connection is mandatory for product updates and is useful for data (history)
storage.
To install OPTIMUS on your PC, you can follow the instructions on the Software
Installation Guide or the detailed instructions in the “Optimus installation” section of
this manual.
Your recently delivered device may need an initial update.
Tool Update
To update the tool, please connect to Optimus.
When connecting the DS One to Optimus a new software update will be proposed if
available.
The following screen will then appear on the DS One screen.
On OPTIMUS software:
The device will
appear on your
dashboard. You can
update by clicking on
“Update Device”.
Click on the image of
the product to view
the dashboard.

On the device dashboard
you can also update
by clicking on (Update
to D2AS*-**-** or/and
D2DS*-**-**).
The update will
begin and the yellow bar
will appear signaling to not
disconnect the device during
this step. Be advised that the
bar will disappear for a few
seconds and reappear after,
as the DS One rst uploads
the software and then the
database.
When the update is
nished, please click on
the eject button to be
able to get out of the
USB connecting mode.

Once the DS One has been updated, follow the steps below to enter the garage
code (RRDI) into the tool.
Garage code (RRDI) is not mandatory.

the button to validate.

Then select to save.
Garage code (RRDI) will be recorded, no need to re-enter after initial setup.

Personalize the user experience
From the Main Menu, allows the
user to personalize the tool.
Languages
From the Settings Menu, choose
and then select your preferred
language.
Units
Temperature units can be set up on
DS One. The user has the choice
between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
Auto Sleep
DS One is equipped with an energy
saver mode to automatically reduce
power consumption if the device is not
used for a certain period of time. The
device will power off automatically after
5 minutes if it is not used. Auto sleep
mode can be set from 1 to 60 minutes.
Date and time
Date and Time will be set automatically
during an update, however, there is an
option to manually set the date and time.
Wi-Fi Connection
For the DS One to save the diagnostics
performed on our dedicated server, it
must be connected to an internal network.
Tool Box
“Tool Box” has a Voltmeter and a
thermal IR temperature reader.
Sound and Haptics
The user has the option to turn the
sound and haptics on or off in the
settings menu.
