Supported Operating Systems
The Elo touch screen monitor can be installed on the following operating systems:
•Windows NT4.0
•Windows XP
•Windows Server 2003
•Windows Vista
Please review and select the installation instructions that match your operating system.
Cable Installation
There are two cable options (USB and Serial) for the Elo 1725L monitor. Refer to the
Quick Installation Guide included with the monitor for additional information.
Windows NT4.0 requires an open serial port on the computer to support the monitor. The
Elo supplied serial cable must be installed to connect the monitor to the computer. Please
refer to illustration 3a of the Quick Installation Guide. Illustration 3a will also assist in
installing the video, sound, and power cables to the monitor.
Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Vista require an open USB port on
the computer. The Elo supplied USB cable must be installed to connect the monitor to the
computer. Please refer to illustration 3b of the Quick Installation Guide. Illustration 3b
will also assist in installing the video, sound, and power cables to the monitor.
IMPORTANT: Do not connect the USB cable until directed to do so.
Touch Screen Drivers
A CD labeled MPS Elo 17” Touch Screen Monitor Installation is used to install the
touch screen drivers on Windows NT, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows Server
2003 systems. The CD autoruns and displays the main menu when inserted into a
CD-ROM drive. Print the Installation Instructions before installing the touch screen
drivers.

Windows NT 4.0 System Drivers
Use the following steps to install the Elo Touch Screen drivers for Windows NT4.0
systems.
1. Insert the CD labeled MPS Elo 17” Touch Screen Monitor Installation into the
CD-ROM drive. When the CD autoruns, a menu displays similar to the following:
2. Click Install Touch Screen Drivers. A window displays similar to the following:

3. Click Next. A window similar to the following displays:

5. Select the COM port to which the Elo supplied serial cable is attached, and then
click Next. The driver files transfer and then a window similar to the following
displays:
6. Click Finish. A window similar to the following displays:
7. Click Yes. The system reboots. When the system restarts, the touch screen must
be calibrated.
8. See the next section Calibrating the Touch Screen on Windows NT to
complete the installation.

Calibrating the Touch Screen on Windows NT
Use the following steps to calibrate the Elo 1725L Touch Screen Monitor.
To calibrate the Elo Touch Screen:
1. Select Start | Settings | Control Panel. A window displays similar to the
following:
2. Double-click the Elo Touchscreen icon. A window displays similar to the
following:

3. Select Align. A window displays similar to the following:
Touch the red circle as it moves to the different locations on the touch screen. Be
sure to touch the screen carefully and firmly. When calibration is complete you
will have 30 seconds to select Yes to save the calibration.
4. Select OK to close the Elo Touchscreen Properties window.
5. Close all open windows. The Elo Touch Screen Monitor is ready for use.
6. Please remove the installation CD from the CD-ROM drive.

Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Drivers
Use the following steps to install the Elo Touch Screen driver for Windows XP and
Windows Server 2003 systems.
1. Insert the CD labeled MPS Elo 17” Touch Screen Monitor Installation. When
the CD autoruns a menu displays similar to the following:
IMPORTANT: Verify that the USB cable is connected at this time.
2. Click Install Touch Screen Drivers. A window displays similar to the following:

4. Select Install USB Touchscreen Drivers, and then click Next. A window

6. Select the Calibrate Elo Touchscreen monitors option.
7. Click Finish.

Windows Vista Drivers
Use the following steps to install the Elo Touch Screen driver on Windows Vista
machines.
IMPORTANT: Do not connect the USB cable from the monitor to the computer until
instructed to do so during the installation.
1. Insert the CD labeled MPS Elo 17” Touch Screen Monitor Installation.
Depending on your security settings, a window displays similar to the following:
2. Click RunELOSetup.exe. If the User Account Control window displays, click
Allow. The Elo 17” Touch Screen Monitor window displays similar to the
following:

3. Click Install Touch Screen Drivers. A window displays similar to the following:
4. Verify that Default displays in the drop-down list.
5. Click Next. A window displays similar to the following:
6. Select the Install USB Touchscreen Drivers option, and then click Next.

9. Select Exit on the Elo 17” Touch Screen Monitor window.
10. Connect the USB cable to the computer. The computer installs the Elo software,
a message displays similar to the following:
11. Close the message window by clicking the X in the top right corner. The Elo
monitor must be calibrated. See the following section Calibrating the Elo 1725L
on Vista.

Calibrating the Elo 1725L on Vista
Use the following steps to Calibrate the Elo on a Vista system.
1. Click Start | Control Panel.
2. Double-click Elo Touchscreen. A window displays similar to the following:
3. Click Align.
4. Touch the red circles as it moves to different locations on the touch screen.
When the calibration is complete you will have 30 seconds to select the green
check mark to save the calibration.

5. Click Cancel to close the Elo Touchscreen Properties window.
6. Close all open windows
7. Remove the CD from the CD ROM drive. The Elo monitor is ready for use.
