3. Function and Intended Use
The solar lamp is designed for all season outdoor use. The solar lamp has to
be set up free from shadows and facing the sun. Recommended are south,
east or west sides. Shadowy north sides are not appropriate. The lamp
should be positioned on stones (e.g. pebbles) and must not stand in water
or oat on water.
The light color is alternating or lockable. This can be selected by the button
at the bottom of the lamp.
The integrated rechargeable battery is charged by the solar module
installed inside the lamp. The lamp is automatically switched on when it is
getting dark and switched off at dawn or if the battery is discharged.
Powerful light emitting diodes (LEDs) are used as light source. Those LEDs
guarantee a high luminosity with a low current consumption and a lifetime
of more than 50000 hours.
Note: During longer periods with insufcient insolation, the accumulator is
charged insufciently via the sunlight. However, that does not mean that
the solar lamp is defective. Please wait for the next sunny days and the
light will work accordingly.
The rechargeable battery has to be exchanged every 2 years on
average!
4. Putting into Operation
1. Please carefully take all parts out of the package.
2. Firmly press in the „ON/OFF“ switch at the bottom of the lamp (illustration
1). You will hear a light click when pressing the switch.
3. If required, you can fasten the lamp in the ground by means of the
ground spikes.
4. Now set up the lamp at a shadow-free, sunny place.
Note: The duration of illumination strongly depends on the intensity and
duration of the solar radiation during the day. During the winter months
please generally expect a shorter light ON time. If the lamp should not
shine on the rst evening, please wait for a sunny day.
5. Operating Modes (light variation or permanent light)
The individual light colors can be operated in alternating mode or rmly set
as a permanent light. The setting is done via the button „Mode“ (illustration
2) at the bottom of the globe. By pressing the button, you can change
between the alternating light and the rmly set light color.
If you want to set one light color rmly, please wait until this color lights up
in the alternating light mode. Now press the button “Mode” once. The color
is now rmly set and is illuminated identically every night.
To return to the alternating light mode, simply press the button „Mode“
again.
6. Exchange of the rechargeable Battery
On average, the battery pack has to be exchanged by a new and identical in
construction battery every two years. Used here is a NiMh battery with 1.2 V/
400 mAh. A new battery pack is available from your retailer or the manufacturer
under www.esotec.de
Proceed as follows when exchanging the battery:
1. Unscrew the black bottom part at the bottom of the lamp anti-clockwise
(illustration 3).
2. Loosen the screws at the bottom of the black bottom part with a suitable
screwdriver (illustration 4).
3. Take out the black plastic lid (illustration 5) and take out the black rubber
gasket (illustration 6).
