Assembling ready for use
Fig. 1
The Ewbank Chilli 3 Cyclonic™ can be used as a handheld vacuum cleaner and
as an upright stick-vac.
Floor brush, hose, crevice tool and upholstery accessories can be added by
inserting the required accessory into the waste chamber inlet. Simply insert the
accessory in a straight line into the waste chamber inlet (see Fig. 1).
To remove, pull out in a straight line.
Fig. 3Fig. 2
Fig. 4
We recommend a light spray of polish or other
lubricant spray into the inlet of the waste chamber to
make this easier. Do not twist either the Chilli or the
accessory while inserting or removing an accessory.
The extension handle can be added to convert the
Chilli to a stick vacuum, by inserting the handle into
the hole located at the rear of the unit, ensuring that
the button located on the end of the handle is guided into the slot on the
edge of the hole (see Fig. 2).
Push the handle in until an audible “click” is heard (see Fig.3). To remove
the handle, fully depress the silver button on the side of the unit (Fig. 4) and
pull the handle out of the hole, releasing the button once the handle is clear
of the unit.
Handle height adjustment
The Chilli handle is extendable for your ease of use.
To adjust the length of the handle, first push the black
slide button down (as shown on Fig. 5), then while
sliding the button gently pull the inner tube of the
handle to the required length (Fig. 6). This tube has a
series of notches approximately 2 cm apart which
when the black button is released will catch and hold the handle at the length required.
Handheld Use
Use without accessories as a handheld vac.
• Perfect for tidying up after meals, vacuuming upholstery, stairs and
anywhere that needs a quick clean up (Fig. 7).
Using the air-powered brush head.
• Use with the air-powered brush head to clean
carpets, rugs and any types of bare floor (Fig. 8).
Using the extension hose and accessories.
• Use with the accessories to clean sofas and chairs,
cars, caravans and anywhere you need it to (Fig. 9).

Important Care Advice
The Chilli 3 Cyclonic™ is a powerful highly efficient, yet lightweight and portable vacuum cleaner.
The powerful suction will remove the smallest particles of dust and dirt from your carpets and
upholstery. To prevent the unit from overheating and to maintain the efficiency of the
Chilli 3 Cyclonic™ the filter MUST BE cleaned regularly.
The waste chamber is transparent to enable you to see accumulated
dirt and debris (Fig. 10). When this happens the efficiency of the
motor unit is reduced and the waste chamber must be emptied and
the filter assembly cleaned.
A blocked filter will restrict airflow to the motor which can start overheating.
This will become apparent as the noise of the motor will become higher
pitch. If this happens stop the unit and then clean the filter or switch to the
spare filter, as described below.
As a safety precaution the motor is designed to cut out in the event
of overheating. Please allow the unit to cool sufficiently for up to
one hour before restarting.
Emptying the waste chamber and caring for
your filter
Disconnect the Ewbank Chilli 3 Cyclonic™ from the
power socket-outlet and remove any accessory
attached to the Chilli. Depress the waste chamber
release button (Fig. 11). While holding the release
button, separate the chamber from the main body
(Fig. 12). Remove the filter body from the chamber
(Fig. 13), and empty the waste from the chamber
(Fig. 14). The chamber can be rinsed out with warm
(not hot) soapy water if necessary. Ensure that the
chamber is dry before re-assembly.
Filter cleaning – we recommend the filter is
checked and cleaned each time the waste
chamber is emptied.
The Chilli 3 filter has 2 separate parts, an outer
pre-filter basket and a pleated filter which fits inside
this basket. The pre-filter will collect larger particles
and prevent these from becoming lodged in the grooves of the pleated filter.
To clean the filter separate the two parts, the pleated filter should easily separate from the
pre-filter, then gently shake, tap or brush the pleated filter to remove dust particles and debris from
the grooves (Fig. 15). The outer pre-filter can be brushed or tapped to remove debris around the
filter (Fig. 16).

Both parts of the filter assembly are suitable for gentle washing in warm (not hot)
water. Do not use detergent. Allow both the pleated filter, and external pre-filter
to dry naturally for 24 hours before refitting to the Chilli. Ensure all parts have fully
dried before reassembly.
Only use the Chilli with both parts of the filter assembly in place.
Use the additional filter pack supplied to continue using your Ewbank
Chilli 3 Cyclonic™ while filter cleaning and maintenance is carried out.
Trouble shooting
If an accessory does not remove easily when pulled (in a straight line) from the Chilli unit, then
squeeze the inlet of the accessory and pull away from the body of the unit, this will release the
accessory (Fig. 17).
This unit is a Class II appliance which means it is double-insulated for your protection, no earthing
wire is necessary. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Ewbank Products Ltd. or
its appointed agents.
Your unit has been supplied with a power cord with a fitted fused plug. Please read the following
safety instructions before use.
1. if the fitted plug is cut off from the power cord then the plug must be disposed of safely. NEVER
in any circumstances insert such a plug into a mains socket-outlet.
2. A replacement fuse must be rated at 5 Amp. These must be manufactured and approved to
BS 1362.
3. IF IN ANY DOUBT CONTACT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN
If you need to fit a plug to the power cord, this should be fitted in accordance with the wiring
instructions below and will need to be used with a 5 Amp fuse. If in doubt consult a qualified
electrician.
If you are using an extension lead it must be rated at a minimum of 10 Amps and fully unwound.
Do not operate with a lead rated less than 10 Amps as this will cause premature failure of the
motor which is not covered by the guarantee.
As the colours of the wires in the power cord of the application may
not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals
in your plug, proceed as follows:
The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal
which is marked with the letter N or coloured black.
The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the
terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red.
