ThankyouforchoosingtheFLIRTA72orTA74UNIVERSALFLEXCURRENTPROBEACCESSORYthat
canmeasureupto3000AAC.AstandardDigitalMultiMeter(DMM)inVACmodecanbeusedto
displaythecurrentmeasurementwhenthecurrentprobeisconnectedtotheDMM.
TheTA74isthe18”(45.7cm)clampversionandtheTA72isthe10”(25.4cm)clampversion,
otherwisebothmetersarethesame.ThesedevicesareprofessionalCATIV600VCATIII1000V
instrumentswithhighpowerWorkLights.Thismeterisshippedfullytestedandcalibratedand,
withproperuse,willprovideyearsofreliableservice.

5.1PoweringtheMeter
Themeterispoweredbytwo(2)AAA1.5Vbatteries(locatedinthecompartmentonthebackof
themeter).PressandholdthePowerbuttonfor>2secondstoswitchthedeviceONorOFF.
ThemeterwillbeepasitswitchesONandoneoftheRangeindicatorlampswillbelit.Usethe
Rangebuttontoselectarangemanually.
IfthemeterdoesnotswitchONpleasecheckthebatterieslocatedintherearbattery
compartment.RefertothebatteryreplacementsectionofthisUserGuide.
5.1.1AutoPowerOFF(APO)
ThemeterswitchesOFFautomaticallyafteranapproximately10‐minuteperiodofinactivity.
SeveralsecondsbeforethemeterautomaticallyswitchesOFFthemeterbeepsseveraltimesto
alerttheuser.
TodisabletheAPOfeature,pressboththeRANGEandPOWERbuttonssimultaneously(with
themeterOFF).ThethreerangeindicatorLEDswillflashthreetimes.Tore‐enableAPO,turn
themeterOFFthenON.
Themeterre‐enablesAPOeachtimethemeterispoweredOFF.
5.2WorkLights
Withtheunitpoweredup,presstheWorkLightbutton toswitchthehighpowerWorkLights
ONorOFF.NotethatexcessiveuseoftheWorkLightswillshortenbatterylife.

CAUTION:Disconnectthemeterfromtheconductorundertestandswitchthe
meterOFFbeforeopeningthebatterycompartment.
1. RemovethebatterycompartmentPhillipsheadscrewfromthebackofthemeter.
2. Removethebatterycompartmentcover.
3. Replacethe2‘AAA’1.5Vbatteriesobservingcorrectpolarity.
4. Re‐attachthebatterycompartmentcover.
5. SecurethecompartmentcoverwiththePhillipsheadscrew.

THISDOCUMENTCONTAINSTHEENTIREWARRANTYAGREEMENTBETWEENPURCHASERANDFLIRANDSUPERSEDESALL
PRIORWARRANTYNEGOTIATIONS,AGREEMENTS,PROMISESANDUNDERSTANDINGSBETWEENPURCHASERANDFLIR.THIS
WARRANTYMAYNOTBEALTEREDWITHOUTTHEEXPRESSWRITTENCONSENTOFFLIR.
6.WARRANTYRETURN,REPAIRANDREPLACEMENT.Tobeeligibleforwarrantyrepairorreplacement,Purchasermustnotify
FLIRwithinthirty(30)daysofdiscoveringofanyapparentdefectinmaterialsorworkmanship.BeforePurchasermayreturna
Productforwarrantyserviceorrepair,Purchasermustfirstobtainareturnedmaterialauthorization(RMA)numberfromFLIR.
ToobtaintheRMAnumberOwnermustprovideanoriginalproofofpurchase.Foradditionalinformation,tonotifyFLIRofan
apparentdefectinmaterialsorworkmanship,ortorequestanRMAnumber,visithttp://www.flir.com.Purchaserissolely
responsibleforcomplyingwithallRMAinstructionsprovidedbyFLIRincludingbutnotlimitedtoadequatelypackagingthe
ProductforshipmenttoFLIRandforallpackagingandshippingcosts.FLIRwillpayforreturningtoPurchaseranyProductthat
FLIRrepairsorreplacesunderwarranty.
FLIRreservestherighttodetermine,initssolediscretion,whetherareturnedProductiscoveredunderWarranty.IfFLIR
determinesthatanyreturnedProductisnotcoveredunderWarrantyorisotherwiseexcludedfromWarrantycoverage,FLIR
maychargePurchaserareasonablehandlingfeeandreturntheProducttoPurchaser,atPurchaser’sexpense,oroffer
PurchasertheoptionofhandlingtheProductasanon‐warrantyreturn.
7.NON‐WARRANTYRETURN.PurchasermayrequestthatFLIRevaluateandserviceorrepairaProductnotcoveredunder
warranty,whichFLIRmayagreetodoinitssolediscretion.BeforePurchaserreturnsaProductfornon‐warrantyevaluationand
repair,PurchasermustcontactFLIRbyvisitinghttp://www.flir.comtorequestanevaluationandobtainanRMA.Purchaseris
solelyresponsibleforcomplyingwithallRMAinstructionsprovidedbyFLIRincludingbutnotlimitedtoadequatelypackaging
theProductforshipmenttoFLIRandforallpackagingandshippingcosts.Uponreceiptofanauthorizednon‐warrantyreturn,
FLIRwillevaluatetheProductandcontactPurchaserregardingthefeasibilityofandthecostsandfeesassociatedwith
Purchaser’srequest.PurchasershallberesponsibleforthereasonablecostofFLIR’sevaluation,forthecostofanyrepairsor
servicesauthorizedbyPurchaser,andforthecostofrepackagingandreturningtheProducttoPurchaser.
Anynon‐warrantyrepairofaProductiswarrantedforonehundredeightydays(180)daysfromthedateofreturnshipmentby
FLIRtobefreefromdefectsinmaterialsandworkmanshiponly,subjecttoallofthelimitations,exclusionsanddisclaimersin
thisdocument.
