1 General
1.1 General warnings
After unpacking the product, check that the product is intact and complete. If not, contact
the dealer.
The product must be installed by an authorised installer who must follow these
instructions and applicable standards.
Frico does not take any responsibility if the product is used incorrectly or for purposes
other than its intended use.
In the event of water leakage, switch off at the main switch and turn off the water. Contact
qualified personnel.
If the unit is not used for prolonged periods, carry out the following:
• Switch off the main switch.
• Close the water valves.
• If there is a freezing risk, ensure that the system has been filled with ant-freeze, otherwise
drain the system.
Setting too high or too low a temperature is detrimental to health and is a waste of energy.
Avoid direct contact with the airflow for long periods.
Do not keep the room closed for long. Ventilate regularly.
This user manual is included with the product and must therefore be stored carefully and
always close to the product, even in the event that the unit changes owner. If the user manual
is damaged or lost, order a new one from Frico or download it from our website.
Repair and maintenance must be carried out by qualified personnel, in accordance with
these instructions. The product must not be modified or manipulated.
Observe caution when in contact with the product due to the risk of burn injuries.

GENERAL
1.2 Important safety regulations
Please note that when using products with electricity and water, different basic safety
regulations must be followed, including:
It is prohibited for children and people with disabilities to use the product.
It is prohibited to touch the unit when barefoot and when parts of the body are wet or
damp.
Cleaning is prohibited unless the unit has been disconnected from the mains power supply,
turned off by the main switch.
It is prohibited to modify safety devices or adjust them without permission and instructions
from the manufacturer.
It is prohibited to pull, release and twist the product's power cord, even if the product is
disconnected from the mains power supply.
It is prohibited to insert objects through suction and air intake grilles.
It is prohibited to open the unit without first switching off at the main switch.
It is prohibited to leave the packaging material within the reach of children, as this can be
a potential source of danger.
It is prohibited to climb and stand on the unit and/or place any type of object on it.
The external parts of the unit can reach temperatures in excess of 70°C.

Fan convector SLW is designed for wall mounting or, in special cases, floor-standing
installation. Three different versions are available with different functions and dimensions, all
with double pipes.

2 Installation
2.1 Positioning
Do not install the unit in proximity to:
• places exposed to direct sunlight
• heat sources
• damp environments and areas when the unit can come into contact with water
• environments with oil mist
Ensure that:
• The wall where the unit is to be installed is of a suitable construction and capacity, and
that there is no risk of damaging recessed water pipes and electrical wiring.
• The wall is completely flat.
• There is free space to ensure circulation of incoming and outgoing air.
• Condensation drainage is possible, if the unit is used for cooling or dehumidifying.
• The airflow is not directed at people.
2.2 Installation method
The following description of the different installation steps applies to a convector with
connections on the right-hand side.
2.3 Minimum dimensions
The image shows the minimum distance from the wall and furniture when installing the fan
convector.

2.4 Opening the unit - installation
• Remove the side panels by sliding them upwards, see fig.
• Remove the six hex screws on the sides of the front panel

2.5 Wall mounting or floor standing
• A recessed junction box is recommended for simple installation, see fig.
• If the unit not installed at the same time as the junction box, retain a sufficient length of
water and drainage pipes, so that they can be connected without having to be spliced later
on.
• Alternatively, if the pipes can be bent slightly (depending on the depth of the junction
box), it will be possible to connect the water directly.
• Ensure to obtain the correct angle on the drain pipe, so that the pipe is always lower than
the drain point.
• For installation height, use the drilling template and see the dimensions in these
instructions.

INSTALLATION
1. Use the drilling template and mark where the mountings are to be located on the wall.
2. Make holes and insert the plugs (two per mounting). Install the two mountings. Adjust the
height using a spirit level before tightening the screws.
3. Tighten the screws.
4. Pull the mountings to the right, left, up and down in order to check that they are properly
tightened.
5. Mount the unit, check that it is secure on the mountings.
6. Check that the unit is straight.

2.6 Water connection
The installer is responsible for the selection and dimensioning and must carry out the work in
accordance with current law and practice.
To connect:
• connect the pipes
• check for leaks
• protect the connections with insulation when the unit is used for cooling
Avoid incomplete pipe insulation.
Avoid overtightening so as not to damage the insulation.
To seal threaded connections against water leakage, use flax and green paste; the use of PTFE
tape is recommended when the circuit contains antifreeze.
Check the insulation for leaks to prevent the formation of condensation.

2.7 Condensation line
• The condensation line must be of an appropriate size (inner pipe diameter at least 16
mm) and the pipes must be positioned in such a way that an inclined angle is achieved
along the entire length, never less than 1 %. In vertical installations, connect the drainage
pipe directly into the drip pan, located underneath the water connections.
• If possible, drain the condensation water directly into the drainage system.
• If flowing out into the drainage system, it is recommended to install a water trap to
prevent bad odours entering the room.
• If the condensation water is routed to a container, this should be open. The pipe should
not be immersed in water to prevent adhesion phenomena and backpressure, which can
prevent free flow.
• If it is necessary to run across an uneven surface that could prevent free flow, install a
drainage pump:
- for vertical installations, install the pump under the drip pan.
- for horizontal installations, the position of the pump must be determined based on
specific needs.
When the installation is complete, check that the flow of the condensation water is correct by
slowly pouring water (approx. 1/2 litre for 5-10 minutes) into the drip pan.
Installing condensation line
Connect a drain pipe to the container and ensure that it is correctly installed, so that leakage
cannot occur. Also check that the container for the valve kit is correctly installed before the
product is used.

A Venting screw
Ensure that the drain pipe that runs through the outer wall has a sufficient fall to prevent
stoppages and thus cause damp problems, see fig.
2.8 Filling the system
At system start up, ensure that the venting screw is open. If power is not connected, use the
blind cover for the valve so that it is in the open position.
2.9 Venting when filling
• Open all venting screws in the system (manual or automatic).
• Start filling by slowly opening the water valve.
• Regulate system filling by using a screwdriver on the upper venting screw on the water
coil connection (see figure below).
• When water starts to come out of the unit's venting valves, close them and continue filling
until the stated nominal value has been reached.
Check the hydraulic seal of the washers.
It is recommended that this is repeated after the unit has been in operation for a few hours
and to regularly check the system pressure.

2.10 Electrical installation
The installation must be preceded by an all-pole switch with a contact gap of at least 3
mm and installation must be performed by an authorised installer and in accordance with
applicable regulations.

The display usually shows operating status (see point Function description) and any alarms
(see Alarms). It is possible to select the different functions by pressing on the different
symbols.

3 Using the remote control
3.1 Warnings
No objects (furniture, curtains, plants, leaves, blinds, etc.) may impede the normal flow of
air from either the intake or exhaust.
The mobile air director must never be changed manually, instead use the remote control or
the integrated control panel.
If the unit leaks water, switch off the power and call for assistance to solve the problem.
The unit may not be installed in premises where explosive gases may be present or where
the humidity or temperature level falls outside the limits specified in the installation manual.
Clean the filter regularly.

It is possible to set different functions by pressing the buttons (see
Function description).
The remote control, which accompanies the unit, is durable, but
should still be handled with care.
Do not:
• expose it to rain, pour liquids on the keypad nor drop it into water
• subject it to severe shocks or let it fall on hard surfaces
• expose it to direct sunlight
• place obstructions between the remote control and the unit
In addition:
• If other remote controlled equipment is used in the same
environment (TV, radio, stereo, etc.), interference may sometimes
occur.
• Electronics and fluorescent lights can interfere with communication
between the remote control and the unit.
• Remove the battery when the remote control is not being used for
extended periods of time.
Battery installation
Only use a 3V CR2025 lithium battery in the remote control (supplied). Used batteries must
be disposed of at approved collection centres provided by local authorities for this type of
waste.
To insert the battery; open the cover on the lower part of the remote control. The battery
must be inserted correctly with regard to polarity. Close the cover again when the battery has
been inserted.
3.3 Function description
General info. regarding start-up and functions
The system is controlled via the remote control or control panel. Point the front part of the
remote control towards the unit. A sound confirms that the unit receives the command and
it is shown in the display. The maximum distance from which commands can be received is
approx. 8 metres.
Regulating the unit when the remote control is not available
If the remote control is not available, e.g. the batteries have run out or if it is damaged, you
can use the control panel directly on the fan convector instead.

Symbol Function
The buttons on the remote control and the panel affect the same function.
When the unit is on, the set setpoint value on the three digits on the display.
The setpoint value can be set between 16 and 31°C.
The setpoint must not be set too high or low, as this means unnecessary energy
consumption and can cause comfort problems.
On/Off
The unit can be switched off (standby) or on with the button.The system is equipped
with a memory, which means that the settings will not be lost when the unit is turned off
or the power is switched off.The button is used to switch on or off, for short periods.
If the unit is to be switched off for a long time, the main switch must be switched off
or the power cord pulled out.
Comfort mode (automatic eco mode)
Depending on the set temperature, the fan convector selects fan speed depending on
the temperature in the room.
Cooling mode
In this mode, the convector dehumidifies and cools the surrounding environment.
The desired temperature can be set between 16 and 31°C. If this temperature is lower
than the room temperature, the fan convector will start after max. 3 minutes and cools,
the fan is active even if the setpoint value is reached.
Dehumidifying mode
In this mode, the convector dehumidifies the surrounding environment.This mode can
be used when the temperature is already comfortable, but there is a lot of moisture.
Neither heating nor cooling is used.The fan speed is set to minimum. In this mode it is
normal that the unit runs periodically.
Ventilation (not heating/cooling)
When this function is selected, neither heating, cooling nor dehumidification is used. It
is possible to select fan speed
Heating mode
In this mode, the convector heats the surrounding environment.
The desired temperature can be set between 16 and 31°C. If this temperature is higher
than the room temperature, the fan convector will start after max. 3 minutes and heats.
Comfort mode Night
When the fan convector is in cooling or heating mode, with this button it is possible to
access functions for sound level, energy saving and to control comfort mode Night. In
this mode, the fan is set to the lowest speed.
This function can be activated for the night.
• In cooling mode: the set temperature increases by 1°C after one hour and by a
further 1°C after two hours. After this, the set temperature does not change again
and after a further six hours the unit switches to standby mode.
• In heating mode: the set temperature decreases by 1°C after one hour and by a
further 1°C after two hours. After this, the set temperature does not change again
and after a further six hours the unit switches to standby mode.
This function is not available in dehumidifying mode, fan mode and comfort mode, and
can be cancelled at any time by pressing the button again.
If the timer function is turned on at the same time, the unit switches off when the set
time ends.

Regulation of air directors
When this button is pressed, it is possible to set the position of the air director, the
symbol then appears in the display, or to lock it in any position.
IMPORTANT:The mobile air director must never be changed manually, instead use
the remote control or the integrated control panel. In cooling and heating mode, it
resets every 30 minutes to prevent the formation of condensation.
Manual fan
When this button is pressed several times, the speed changes in the following order:
Minimum, Medium, Maximum and automatic.
The greater the set speed, the greater the performance, note that the sound level
increases. If automatic mode is set, the speed is regulated automatically, the speed
is greater when the difference between the room temperature and setpoint value is
greater, and then decreases automatically when the room temperature approaches the
setpoint value. Speed control is not possible during dehumidification and comfort mode
Night.
Timer setting
The user can set when the unit is to come on or turn off using the timer.
When the fan convector is on, it is possible to program the timer to switch off the unit.
This is done by pressing theTimer button, followed by the number of hours (from 1 to
24), the unit switches to standby mode according to the set time.
When the fan convector is off, it is possible to program the timer to switch on the unit.
This is done by pressing theTimer button, followed by the number of hours (from 1 to
-24), the unit starts according to the set time.
Press theTimer button to confirm.
Key lock
If theTimer button is pressed for three seconds on the panel, the keylock function is
enabled. All actions are locked to the user.The standby symbol pulses at a one second
frequency.To disable the lock, press theTimer button on the panel again for three 3
seconds.
All selections made via the remote control disable the keylock!
3.4 Recommendations for energy saving
• Always keep filters clean.
• When possible, close doors and windows in air conditioned rooms.
• When possible, block sunlight during the summer months in air-conditioned rooms (use
curtains, blinds etc.).
• Do not obstruct the unit's incoming and outgoing air.
3.5Troubleshooting
It is important that the user can distinguish between a malfunction and something that is
considered to be part of the unit's normal operation. The most common errors can be easily
resolved by the user (see Troubleshooting), while other alarms require Frico technical support
or similar to be contacted.
Repairs must be performed by an authorised installer.

4 Regular maintenance
4.1 Maintenance
Regular maintenance is necessary to maintain the eciency, safety and reliability of the fan convector
over time. Some maintenance should be carried out twice a year, and other maintenance annually, by
authorised personnel who can also replace parts if necessary.
4.2 External cleaning
Before cleaning and maintenance work, disconnect the unit from the power supply by
turning off the main switch.
Wait until the components have cooled to prevent the risk of burn injury.
Do not use abrasive sponges or sanding or abrasive cleaners to avoid damaging painted
surfaces.
If necessary, clean the fan convector's external surfaces using a soft damp cloth.
4.3 Cleaning air intake filter
After a period of continuous operation and depending on the concentration of pollutants in
the air, or when the system is restarted after a period of inactivity, proceed according to the
description.
Removing the filter
• Remove the grille by lifting it slightly and twisting.
• Remove the filter by pulling it vertically upwards.

Clean the filter
• Use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust from the filter.
• Clean the filter under running water without detergent and allow to dry.
• Reinstall the filter in the fan convector, observe caution when inserting the lower edge
into the casing.
The fan convector can be damaged by operation without a filter.
The unit is equipped with a circuit breaker that prevents the fan from starting when there
is no filter or if the filter is incorrectly positioned.
After cleaning the filter, check that the filter has been installed correctly.
4.4 Recommendations for energy saving
Always keep filters clean.
• When possible, close doors and windows in air conditioned rooms.
• When possible, block sunlight during the summer months in air-conditioned rooms (use
curtains, blinds etc.).
