General Electric LP11-U UPS Startup Checklist
The purpose of this startup checklist is to eliminate any problems during system startup due to
incorrect wiring or installation. It is recommended that the entire installation / user manual be
re iewed prior to installation and operation. The LP11-U UPS can be configured either by the
customer or contractor by following all safety precautions. If onsite startup support is required
for any reason, this pre-startup checklist must be completed before a GE technician can be
scheduled to perform the start up or support of the UPS system.
***Very Important Notes***
Note 1 – Battery fuse:
The GE LP11-U UPS battery fuse is located in the bag taped to the top of the UPS along with
the system manual and a jumper used to configure the output of the UPS. A sticker on the bag
states "DO NOT DISCARD". Secure the fuse and jumper in a safe location and pro ide to the
GE field engineer for system startup. Please notify GE Power Quality Ser ice immediately if the
fuse or jumper are missing. UPS cannot be started without the battery fuse.
Note 2 – UPS Input / Output: The GE LP11-U UPS is deli ered as 208 AC input and 208 AC
output unless otherwise ordered. To modify the input and output oltages there are both
mechanical and electronic modifications that must be performed.
Note 3 – External aintenance Bypass: The LP11-U UPS has an internal single phase
transformer that caused a phase shift between the input and output oltage. If an external
maintenance bypass is to be utilized, a single phase transformer must be installed in the
maintenance bypass path to compensate for this phase shift. Contact GE prior to installing an
external maintenance bypass.
Note 4 – LP11-U UPS units in parallel: Parallel units should be ordered in this configuration so
they can be tested prior to shipment to the site. If field installation is required, it is
recommended that this be performed by a qualified GE technician.

1 Verify that IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS (Section 1) ha e been
re iewed.
2 Verify that the UPS is carefully unpackaged, inspected for damage, and
placed near the installation location.
3 Verify the proper size wires and circuit breakers are utilized.
4 Verify the proper input oltage installation procedures for 208-240 AC or
120 AC input are used to connect the UPS.
a. 4.4.1.1 Standard installation procedure: Vin 208-240Vac,
Vout 120/208/220/230/240Vac
b. 4.4.1.2 Installation procedure: Vin 120Vac (optional
5/6kVA), Vout 120/208/220/230/240Vac
Proper input oltage is connected to include the system ground
4 Referring to the following sections of the installation / user manual,
perform the hardware modifications required for the input oltage to be
applied.
1. 4.4.2 A ailable input oltages: hardware modifications
2. 4.4.2.1 Input oltage 208 or 240Vac
3. 4.4.2.2 Input oltage 120Vac (optional, 5/6kVA only)
5 Referring to the following sections of the installation / user manual,
perform the hardware modifications required for the output oltage
necessary for the critical load.

3. 4.4.3.2 Output oltage 120Vac split-phase

associated to any hardware modifications performed abo e.

the installation of the external battery pack(s).
4.4.5 Installation of GE Digital Energy LanPro-U battery extension pack(s)
8 Referring to the section 4.4.6 LanPro-11U series: 2 / 3 / 4 parallel
operating units – additional info, contact GE Power Quality ser ice with
any questions on the installation of a parallel system.
8 Referring to the section 5 of the installation / user manual, erify proper
operation of the GE LP11-U UPS.
