dissolved in water, and even on its temperature. At the same time
the hardness of water mostly depends on the amount of calcium
ions contained in the water.
Aragon is an ion-exchange material. It is its one
of the basic properties through which we get the softening
of water. The gist of ion-exchange method in Aragon is that
it takes one calcium cation and gives two sodium ions, i.E.
The type of ions has changed, and their quantity in water has
been increased 2 times! On one side, electrical conductivity
of water must be increased, but we should not forget about
the fact that Aragon has removed the other impurities
on which the conductivity depends, such as chlorine, iron,
insoluble particles, sand, rust, heavy metals. Ions increased
2 times more, but all the other impurities were deleted –
so the TDS meter shows almost the same result as it was before
filtration. That is why measuring the hardness of water with
the TDS meter after ion-exchange materials does not make any
sense, as it does not show the real picture. But you might
say, «and what about water softening, if the number
of salt ions remained the same?!». We will explain: calcium
is replaced by sodium, and sodium no longer leaves scale
on the electric heating devices, as it happens with calcium:
this is the softening of water – that is what we needed! This
is the principle of ion-exchange water softening. What is very
important that sodium is an indispensable element for the life
of the human body.
Moreover, Aragon
has unique property
of quasi softening of water
– it means that the same
salts of calcium, pass-
ing through tiniest pores
of the material, change
its crystalline struc-
ture and transforms
from calcite into arag-
onite (hence, Аragon is
the name of material).
Aragonite is a very rare
typeof calcium, in the nat-
