Girard Systems awnings may be operated in light wind and rain
conditions. When periods of heavy rain and or high wind are expected
the awning must be closed. Never leave the awning open and
unattended.
Damage caused by wind and rain is not covered by warranty.
All awnings must be closed prior to moving the vehicle for any reason.
As an extra safety precaution a visual check that every awning is fully
closed is required.
Damage caused by failure to comply with these instructions is
not covered by warranty.
Before using your awning, ensure that the area into which the awning
will be deployed is free of obstructions (Trees, walls, pillars, posts,
other vehicles etc.)
Damage caused by collisions with any of the above or similar is
not covered by warranty.
Before using your awning make sure that all of your electrical circuits
are operating correctly. Recreational Vehicles can generate AC power
from three separate sources. The electrical system transfer switch in
your vehicle will select power for the awning as follows:
Shore Power – if connected;
Generator Power – if the generator is running;
Inverter Power – batteries must be charged for inverter operation.
Girard Systems awnings are supplied with an electric motor appropriate to the
product.

THE G–LINK SYSTEM
The G-Link motors and control modules provided by Girard Systems communicate by
use of RF signals on a frequency of 433.92 MHZ. This eliminates the need for wiring
and the drilling of holes in the vehicle. These components must be electronically
matched, programmed or paired before use. This is usually done at the Girard Systems
factory. Should the need arise for the user to pair a device with the motor controller
they must refer to the appropriate manual for the devices applicable to their particular
installation.

AC Motor Controller with Optional LED (12V DC) control.

This module is designed to control a single Standard 110v AC Motors UP to 8 Amps, it can also
provide 12v DC power for an optional LED strip and can be remotely operated with any paired
G-Link handset or wall switch. The controller will receive signals from a distance of more than
500ft in open air and more than 100ft in the presence of obstructions. The RF transmission
frequency is 433.92MHZ.
The awning may be operated from the GC274A using the FWD/STOP/REV buttons (see figure
1.). The direction of travel of the motor can be reversed without the need of changing the
wiring by pressing the Left and Right buttons of the module simultaneously for least 6 seconds.
The GC274A may be programmed with up to 20 compatible remote modules. If an additional
module is programmed it will replace the most recently programmed module. The previous 19
modules will remain unchanged.
The GC274A has a quick connector for an easy installation. The black and Red cables are used
to connect an Optional LED Strip.
The GC274A can operate in either Continuous or Step mode.
a. In Continuous mode a single press of the button on the module or the Remote handset
will cause the Awning to move in the chosen direction until the limit switch is actuated,
unless the Stop button is pressed.
b. In Step mode a single press will cause a small step in the chosen direction, but if the
button is not released within 2 seconds the movement will become continuous as
described above.

Installation
A circuit breaker protected 15A/115v AC power outlet is required form the Vehicles power
distribution panel as shown in the diagram below.
1. Install a UL approved 110VAC junction box in which to make the electrical connections.
2. Route the Awning’s Motor cable to this location and make the connections to the
GC274a in accordance with NEC requirements.
Mount the GC274A on the wall using the screws and tape provided.
You will note from the diagram above that the GC274A works in conjunction with an Ignition
retract and lock module (GC1102). This device sends a retract signal to the awning when the
vehicle’s ignition is turned on. Once the awning is fully retracted the device removes power to
the motor control module, thus preventing not only moving the vehicle with a deployed awning
but also from the awning being deployed while the vehicle is in motion. Please see the GC1102
instruction manual for further information.

SETUP AND PROGRAMMING
1. Selection of “Continuous” or “Step” mode.
a. Supply power to the GC274A.
b. Simultaneously press the STOP and RIGHT button of the GC274Afor at least 6
seconds: The Green LED will first illuminate and then blink a few times. When the Green
LED extinguishes, the operation has been completed
To switch modes (continuous to step or step to continuous) repeat step 1 above.
2. Change motor direction
a. Supply power to GC274A
b. Simultaneously press the LEFT and RIGHT buttons of the GC274A for at least 6 seconds. The
Green LED will illuminate and then blink a few times. When the Green LED extinguishes, the
operation is complete.
To gain access to the Program button on the GC274A the lid of the module must be removed.
Simply press the Lid release tabs found on either side of the box indicated in Fig.1 above and
lift the lid off. The location of the Program button is indicated in Fig.2 below.

3. Programming the GC274A to a Remote handset or Wall switch
a. Supply power to the GC274A
b. Press the program button on the GC274 (Fig 2) the Green LED will start blinking.
c. Press STOP (Fig. 1): The Green LED will stop blinking and remain illuminated.
d. Press the UP button on the REMOTE DEVICE being programmed. The Green LED on
the motor controller will extinguish.
4. Cancel one Remote from the GC274A
a. Supply power to the GC274A
b. Press the program button on the GC274A (Fig 2) the Green LED will start blinking.
c. Press STOP (Fig. 1): The Green LED will stop blinking and remain illuminated.
d. Press the DOWN button on the REMOTE DEVICE being cancelled. The Green LED
will extinguish.
5.Cancel all of the Remotes from the GC274A
a. Turn on power to GC274A
b. Simultaneously press the STOP and LEFT button of the GC274A for at least 6
seconds: The Green LED will first illuminate and then blink a few times. When the
Green LED extinguishes the operation has been completed.
6. Programming the GC274A to an Anemometer (98GC116I)
a. Set the wind speed adjustment dial of the anemometer to between 1-2.
b. Supply power to the GC274A and the GC116I(Leave them on if already on)
c. Press the PROGRAM button on the GC274A (the Green LED will start to blink)
d. Press the STOP button on the GC274A (The Green LED will remain illuminated)
e. Press the UP button on the GC116I.
f. Extend awing using a Manual Remote Control and press the UP button again on the
GC116I to verify that the unit is working properly (the awning should Retract)

7. Programming the GC274A to a Motion Sensor (98GC779G)
This procedure will require opening up the motion sensor module by following the directions
below;
a. Remove the 2 small cross head screws which secure the motion sensor to the mounting
bracket. See Fig.1.

b. Detach the motion sensor from the bracket, the base plate is magnetized so will need to
be gently lifted off. Then turn it over. See Fig.2.

c. Remove the 4 cross head screws holding the module together. Remove the back plate
and silicone insert. See Fig.3.

d.Turn the base plate over (Magnet down). Then place the motion sensor on top of it so
that the magnet is aligned with the reed switch. See fig.4. If this is not done the
default program cannot be changed.

Note; when carrying out this part of the procedure each step must be executed
within 10 seconds of the previous one or the module will revert to factory settings.
It is highly recommended that you read and understand the following sequence
before attempting to execute it.
a. Set the Motion sensor Adjustment Dial to level 5. (See Fig.4)
b. To initiate the programming sequence, power to the motor controller must be
disconnected for at least 10 seconds then reconnected.
c. Connect the GC779G Motion sensor to a 12volt DC circuit. At this point the
Purple LED will illuminate and then begin to blink. If it does not, the module is
not receiving the correct power. Ensure that the magnet and reed switch are
aligned and verify the electrical connection before proceeding.
d. Press the program button on the Motor controller (see fig.6). The green LED will
start blinking.
e. Press the Stop button on the Motor controller (see fig.4). The green LED will
illuminate continuously.
f. Press the programming button on the GC779G Motion sensor (See Fig.4). Both
the Purple LED on the Motion sensor and the green LED on the Motor controller
will flash once and extinguish. This completes the programming sequence.
g. Ensure that the code was accepted by pressing the Program button on the
GC779G Motion sensor again. The Awning should retract.
h. If the Awning does not retract, repeat steps a. to f.
i. Set the Adjustment Dial to the desired sensitivity level 1 to 5. Never set higher
than 5. (The factory setting is 3).
Once programming is complete, reassemble the motion sensor module and
mount on the awning lead rail.

THE G–LINK SYSTEM
The G-Link motors and control modules provided by Girard Systems communicate by
use of RF signals on a frequency of 433.92 MHZ. This eliminates the need for wiring
and the drilling of holes in the vehicle. These components must be electronically
matched, programmed or paired before use. This is usually done at the Girard Systems
factory. Should the need arise for the user to pair a device with the motor controller
they must refer to the appropriate manual for the devices applicable to their particular
installation.
WARNING
“To reduce the risk of electric shock the operator power is to be
provided from a weatherproof junction box. In the case of permanent
wiring, as per 314.15 of the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.”
To prevent the motor protector from tripping do not exceed 2
minutes of operation per hour.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The 98GC1102 Ignition Retract and Lockout Module is designed to send a retract signal
to any electronically paired G-Link motor control modules installed on the Recreational
Vehicle, whenever the engine is turned on or the parking brake released (dependent
upon the installation). The 98GC1102 can be electronically paired with more than one
motor controller, but only electrically isolates power from the motor controller that it is
connected to. This being the case it is advised that each awning on the vehicle to have
its own Ignition Retract and Lockout Module
For installations that consist of more than one awning, a delay should be set for each
additional Ignition Retract and Lockout module using the procedure described in this
manual (see programming the delay).
The 98GC1102 will send the retract signal 3 times in the first 5 seconds of the Vehicle
engine starting or the parking brake being released, this will ensure that all
electronically paired awnings have been sent a retract signal before the vehicle moves.
90 seconds after sending a “Retract” signal, the 98GC1102 will isolate power from the
motor controller to which it is connected and the power will remain isolated until the
engine is turned off again, (or the parking brake engaged) this prevents the awning
from being accidentally extended while the vehicle is in motion.
The 98GC1102 has an AC Plug to enable connection to a 110v AC power supply, It is
recommended that this plug be removed and the power supply be connected through
an approved junction box to prevent the module being connected to an unsuitable
power source. The white cable with the rectangular plug connects to the motor control
module of the awning. To enable its function the 98GC1102 requires the Black and Red
wires coming from the module to be connected to the 12 Volt Vehicle ignition circuit or
the parking brake circuit (See the wiring diagrams on the next page).

PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE
Ensure that the vehicle ignition circuit is switched OFF or the parking brake is
engaged (whichever is applicable to the installation), and the awning is
extended before connecting the 98GC1102 to the 12 volt DC circuit.
a) Connect the 98GC1102 to a suitable 110v AC power supply.
b) Connect the 98GC1102 to the G-Link Motor controller using the white connector
(see figure 1).

c) Connect the 12V wires of the 98GC1102 to the 12 volt ignition circuit or
parking brake circuit of the vehicle.
Note; When carrying out this part of the procedure each step must be
executed within 10 seconds of the previous one or the module will revert to
factory settings. It is highly recommended that you read and understand the
following sequence before attempting to execute it.
d) Press the PROGRAM button on the MOTOR CONTROLLER, the Green LED will
start blinking.
e) Press STOP on the MOTOR CONTROLLER, the Green LED will stop blinking and
remain illuminated.
f) Turn ON the Ignition Switch (or release the parking brake according to the
installation). The green LED will turn off and the awning should retract. The
MOTOR CONTROLLER will be disabled after 90 seconds.
g) If the unit does not work as described above repeat d), e) and f) again.

PROGRAMMING THE DELAY
a) Remove the four screws on top of the 98GC1102 to open the Lid (See figure 2).

executed within 5 seconds of the previous one or the module will revert to
factory settings. It is highly recommended that you read and understand the
following sequence before attempting to execute it.
b) With the engine ON press the SET button (see Figure 2) on the Ignition lockout
for 6 seconds until you hear a beep.
c) Press the UP button shown in Figure 2 to change the delay. Each press will be
followed by a beep and it will increase the delay by one second.
NOTE: Make sure the delay is different from every other Ignition Lockout in
the coach.
