Girard Systems awnings may be operated in light wind and rain
conditions. When periods of heavy rain and or high wind are expected
the awning must be closed. Never leave the Awning open and
unattended.
Damage caused by wind and rain is not covered by warranty.
All awnings must be closed prior to moving the vehicle for any reason.
As an extra safety precaution a visual check that every awning is fully
closed is required.
Damage caused by failure to comply with these instructions is
not covered by warranty.
Before using your awning, ensure that the area into which the awning
will be deployed is free of obstructions (Trees, walls, pillars, posts,
other vehicles etc.)
Damage caused by collisions with any of the above or similar is
not covered by warranty.
Before using your awning make sure that all of your electrical circuits
are operating correctly. Recreational Vehicles can generate AC power
from three separate sources. The electrical system transfer switch in
your vehicle will select power for the awning as follows:
Shore Power – if connected;
Generator Power – if the generator is running;
Inverter Power – batteries must be charged for inverter operation.
Girard Systems awnings are supplied with an electric motor appropriate to the
product.

THE G–LINK SYSTEM
The G-Link motors and control modules provided by Girard Systems communicate by
use of RF signals on a frequency of 433.92 MHZ. This eliminates the need for wiring
and the drilling of holes in the vehicle. These components must be electronically
matched, programmed or paired before use. This is usually done at the Girard Systems
factory. Should the need arise for the user to pair a device with the motor controller
they must refer to the appropriate manual for the devices applicable to their particular
installation.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The GC946G Remote Retract Module is a control unit designed to send a “Retract All”
signal to the awnings installed on the vehicle. It is normally mounted under the
dashboard on a switched 12v DC circuit. Typically the ignition or parking brake circuit,
so that when the circuit is made the GC946G will cause all of the awnings that have
been programmed to retract.

The three Dip Switches of the GC 946G (Fig.1) determine its mode of operation.
Fig.2 Shows the Dip Switches set as 1-ON / 2-ON / 3-OFF (The white square shows
the position of the switch!). The function of switch 1 is to supply power to the
transmitter and this is shipped in the “off” position to preserve the battery state.
Power will be applied after installation at the Programming stage.

PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE
NOTE:
•
Before starting this procedure the Receiver (motor controller) must be
without power (OFF) for at least 10 seconds.
•
During the programming function the interval between each step required
must be less than 10 seconds.
PROGRAMMING THE GC946G TO MOTOR CONTROLLERS;
GC136/GC154/GC274A/GC274B/GC732G
1. Remove the 4 Philips screws securing the cover of the module.(Fig.1)
2. Remove the top cover and configure the DIP switches as shown in Fig.2 above.
3. Supply power to the Motor Controller and the GC946G(Leave them on if already
on)
4. Press the PROGRAM button on the Motor Controller (the Green LED will start
blinking (Red on the GC732G))
5. Press the STOP button on the Motor Controller (The LED will remain illuminated)
6. Press the UP button on the GC946G (The LED will flash and extinguish)
7. Extend awing using a Remote Control and then press the UP button on the
GC946G to verify that the unit is working properly (the awning should Retract).

1. First program a Remote Control to the Motor Controller (See Remote Control
programming instructions in the Motor controller manual).
2. Remove the 4 Philips screws securing the cover of the module.(Fig.1)
3. Remove the top cover and configure the DIP switches as shown in Fig.2 above.
4. Supply power to the Motor Controller (you will hear a faint beep from the RF
receiver.
5. Connect the GC946G to a 12v DC supply.
6. Press the P2 Button on the remote controller TWICE.
7. Press the SET button on the GC946G ONCE (A beep will be emitted by the RF
receiver).
8. Fully extend the awning using the remote handset or switch and then press the UP
button on the GC946G to verify that the unit is working properly (the awning
should Retract).
