5. Pre-installation Inspection
Sunshine Tile will generate electrical energy under sunlight, so it is strictly forbidden
to short-circuit the output cable, otherwise the output cable may overheat and
cause the cable casing to melt.
Construction workers shall wear anti-skid shoes or anti-skid shoe covers during
construction and deploy reliable anti-fall protection.
When it rains, the roof is wet or the ground is wet, the installation should be stopped,
otherwise there is a risk of falling and electric shock.
It is forbidden to lift and pull the tiles or junction boxes and cables during the process
of transport, otherwise it will easily cause damage to the components and fall off.
The falling of the tile during the process of transport may cause the module to break.
It is strictly forbidden to twist the tile during installation, otherwise it will damage
the tile or cause other damages.
It is strictly forbidden to hold the output DC cable between the frame and the
bracket when installing the tile, otherwise it will cause short circuit or fire accident.
It is strictly forbidden to put Sunshine Tile in direct contact with any rigid material
when installing the tile, otherwise it will cause breakage of Sunshine Tile.
The roof slope of Sunshine Tile installation should be 17.5°~75°, otherwise it will
cause roof leakage.
The absolute value of the deviation of the length of the matched cement tile is ≤4mm,
and the absolute value of the absolute deviation of the width is ≤3mm.
When the construction is interrupted, the unconnected cable connector should be

well protected from water.
6. The Installation of Sunshine Tile
6.1 Sunshine Tile Roofing Installation Method
1、Unpacking and Stacking.
①、When tiles need to be placed temporarily on site, the tiles should be placed
vertically against a solid and flat surface, and it is forbidden to stack the tiles on a flat
surface.
②、(a) When the Sunshine Tile is temporarily leaning and placed, each stack
should not exceed 15 pieces, otherwise the components may be damaged and fall off.
③、When the Sunshine Tile is temporarily leaning and placed, it is forbidden to
squeeze the Sunshine Tile connecting cable between the two Sunshine Tile frames to
avoid breaking the cable due to pressure.
④、Sunshine Tiles that are not installed on site should be protected from water.
2、Concrete base acceptance.
①The concrete base maintenance must be firm until the defined period without
loosen, bulging, cratering, sanding and falling ash; concave parts and cracks
should be smoothed and painted with cement mortar.
②The surface of the concrete base must be dry and flat, and must be cleaned, the
surface of the concrete base should be flat and smooth, uniform. Its flatness can
be checked with a two-meter long ruler, and the maximum gap between the
concrete base and the ruler should not exceed 10mm, and the gap is only allowed
to change gently.
③The maximum tolerance of the overall flatness of the concrete in-situ roof
levelling layer shall not exceed ±5mm; the front ridge, sloping ridge and gutter
shall be made into contour strips; the levelling layer shall be maintained for 3 to
7 days after construction before the subsequent process is carried out.
④After the concrete base has been processed, the surface flatness, verticality of
the elevation, internal & external angles, squareness of the roof base are required
to meet the requirements of the Technical Specification for Roofing Engineering
(GB50693-2011).
3、Before installing the tile battens and counter battens，check the concrete base of
the roof to ensure that it is flat with sufficient thickness and strength, in order to
ensure a solid installation.
4、Leveling, chalk lining: according to the characteristics of the tile roof and the actual
size of the roof, snap out the location line of the counter batten and tile batten;
wooden counter batten and tile batten should use the grade I or II wood, the
moisture content should not be greater than 18%, and should make anti-corrosion

and anti-moth treatment. The connection between counter batten and nail-
supporting layer and the connection between tile batten andcounter batten should
be fixed firmly.
5、Counter batten installation.
①The size of the counter batten should not be less than 40*30(H) mm (optional
specification).
②The counter batten should be nailed firmly and straight with a flat surface and
spaced 450-600mm apart (as shown below).

6、Tile batten installation.
①(a) The size of the tile batten should be 30*30mm (optional, not smaller than this
size).
②(a) The thickness of the cornice tile batten should be increased, with a distance
of 285 mm between the centers of the upper row of tile batten and the tile batten
on the eaves.
③The center distance between the other tile battens is 370±5mm. (The following
figure)

7、Sunshine Tile installation Sequence: Install from right to left in the same row, and
install row by row from bottom to top.
①Install the matched tiles at the cornice first and the order of installation is from
right to left, from bottom to top; (as shown below)

②When installing the tile upwards row by row, first determine the position of
the sun tile mounting hook according to the design plan, and install the mounting
hook on the lower side of the Sun Tile. Each piece of Sunshine Tile needs 2
installation hooks and 4 mounting screws. The position relationship between the
mounting hook and the side of the sun tile is shown in the figure below:

③After confirming the location of the installation hooks, lay the bottom row of
installation hooks first; (as shown below)

④After completing the installation of the installation hooks for the entire row of
Sunshine Tiles, install the matched tiles on the far right side of this row; (as shown
below)

⑤After installing the matched tiles on the right side, continue to lay the Sunshine
Tiles from right to left, the Sunshine Tiles fall into the rabbet of the installation hooks,
and then lay the matched concrete tiles on the left side of the Sunshine Tiles to
complete the installation of this row of tiles; (as shown below)

⑥The left and right lap of Sunshine Tiles are installed as below:

The lap of the left and right frame of Sunshine Tile (middle profile)

⑦The edge tiles, which are left or right lapped directly to the Sunshine Tiles must
be fixed with the tile batten using self-tapping screws.
⑧After completing the installation of the entire row of Sunshine Tiles, the
installation of the next row of Sunshine Tiles is carried out from bottom to top in the
same way as the previous row; the next row of Sunshine Tiles is lapped with the

previous row of Sunshine Tiles already installed.
⑨After each row of Sunshine Tiles is installed, check its lap condition with the
previous row of Sunshine Tiles to avoid blocking the solar cells of the previous
row of Sunshine Tiles.
⑩The lap distance between the upper and lower rows of tiles is 51mm±5mm (as
shown below).
⑪Repeat the installation of the Sunshine Tiles and its matched tiles row by row
from bottom to top until the entire roof installation is completed.

8、Construction of the ventilated ridge (installation of brackets, waterproofing
membrane and ridge tiles)
①Fix the brackets using the snapped structural lines of the main and hip ridges as
a reference line. The method is as follows: adjust the brackets by the measured
height of the brackets during pre-laying, fix one section to the wooden brackets
with screws and the other side to the counter batten with steel nails/shoot nails,
and then fix 50 x 40mm brackets (antiseptic treatment required) to the brackets,
and finally Install the top tile bat

②Install the top row of edge tiles
③Lay the waterproofing membranes
④Install the ridge tiles: pre lay the ridge tiles and fix the ridge tile with the ridge tile
screw after confirming that there are no problems. (main and hip ridges are
installed in the same method)

9、Installation of the cutting tile hasp
①During the installation process, it may happen that the main ridge and hip ridge
edge tiles need to be cut, but there is no tile head that cannot be fixed after
cutting.. In this case, you can use the cutting tile hasp for installation. As shown in
the figure below, first clamp the cutting tile hasp on the cutting tile, and then fix
it on the wood strip with its own stainless steel wire to fix the cutting tile.
10、Install the grounding wire for lightning protection
①The grounding wire can be connected to the grounding hole on the left frame of
the Sunshine Tile in the box uniformly before installation: install the serrated
washer, grounding wire and self-tapping screw (diameter ≥ 4.8 mm) in turn and
tighten the screw.

②After Installing the entire row of Sunshine Tiles and before installing the next row
of Sunshine Tiles, the terminal of the grounding wire should be pulled out (below
left), while connecting the terminal of the grounding wire to the right frame of
the Sunshine Tile in the lap position (below right).
③Before installing the next row of Sunshine Tiles, check whether the grounding
wire at two ends of this row of Sunshine Tiles has been connected. Proceed to the
installation of next row of Sunshine Tiles only after confirming the above
grounding wire has been connected.
④Continue the installation of the next row of Sunshine Tiles, the upper and lower
rows are connected using grounding wires as shown in the figure below, so that
all rows of Sunshine Tile frame are connected into a conductive path leading to
the bus, which is connected to the grounding flat iron buried in the earth (Figure
4).

7. Electrical installation
7.1 Electrical performance
The nominal values of the module electrical performance parameters such as
Isc, Voc and Pmax have an error of ± 3% under standard test conditions (Irradiance
1000 W/m2, cell temperature 25°C, atmospheric mass AM1.5). When the modules
are connected in a series, the final voltage is the sum of the series modules; when
the modules are connected in parallel, the final current is the sum of the parallel
modules as shown in figure 7-1-1. Modules with different electrical performance
can’t be connected in one string.

The maximum number of modules that can be connected in series in a single
string must be calculated in accordance with the requirements of the relevant
regulations and their open-circuit voltage must not exceed the maximum system
voltage value specified for the module at the lowest expected local temperature

conditions ( Maximum system voltage of the module is DC1000V/DC1500V - the
actual system voltage will depend on the module type and inverter selected ) and
other values required for DC electrical components.
The open circuit voltage correction factor can be calculated according to the
following formula：CVoc=1-βVoc×(25-T). T is the minimum ambient temperature
expected at the installation location of the system and β (% /°C) is the temperature
coefficient of the selected modules’ Voc (refer to the corresponding parameter table
of the PV module).
If there may be a reverse current that exceeds the maximum fuse current of the PV
module, an over current protection device must be used to protect the PV modules.
If the number of parallel connections is greater than or equal to 2 strings, there must
be an over current protection device on each string of PV modules, as shown in the
diagram. The installation location of the reverse current protection device should
follow the requirements in AS/NZS 5033.
7.2 Cable and wiring
The connection of PV modules shall use the junction box with IP67 protection grade,
safety protection for the conductor and its corresponding connection should be
guaranteed, and accessible protection for non-insulated live parts should also be
provided. The junction box is composed of connected cables and connectors with
IP67 protection grade, which is convenient for series connection between PV
modules. The single module has two wires respectively connected to the junction
box, one positive and one negative. The two PV modules can be connected in series
by inserting the positive connector to the negative socket of the other PV module.
According to the local fire protection, building and electrical standards, special PV
cables and suitable connectors should be used. (The wires should be covered in ducts
with anti-aging properties. If exposed to air, they should have anti-aging properties),
and ensure the electrical and mechanical properties of cables are good. The installer
can only use single wire PV cable, 2.5-16mm2 (5-14 AWG), 90 ℃grade, with
appropriate insulation to withstand the maximum possible system open circuit
voltage (as required by EN50618). The appropriate wire size needs to be selected to
reduce the voltage drop. All wiring and electrical connections shall meet the
requirements of the corresponding national electrical standards. When the cable is
fixed on the bracket, it is necessary to avoid mechanical damage to the cable or PV
modules. Do not press the cable. The cable shall be fixed on the bracket by specially
designed aging behavior cable ties and clamps. Although the cable is aging resistant
and waterproof, it should also avoid direct sunlight and rain immersion. The minimum
bending radius of the cable shall be 43mm.
