Pressure Relief
Relieve pressure in system by using two wrenches
working in opposite directions on pump element and
pump element fitting to only loosen fitting.
NOTE: When loosening pump element fitting, do NOT
loosen pump element. Loosening pump element will
change the output volume.
Disassembly
Reference numbers used in these instructions
correspond to parts included in Kit. Parts identified with
an alpha character are user provided or already installed
components.
Reservoir Disassembly
1. Pump or drain all grease from reservoir to relieve
spring pressure on follower plate.
2. Disconnect pump from power source.
3. Relieve pressure using Pressure Relief Procedure
provided in this manual.
4. Loosen and remove bolts (9) and washers (10) on
the top. Loosen nuts (8) on the bottom as shown in
FIG. 2 and FIG. 3. Discard bolts, washers and nuts
according to local codes for disposal. They will not
be used for reassembly.
5. Remove tie rods (TR) and set them aside for reas-
sembly.
WARNING
PRESSURIZED FLUID HAZARD
High-pressure fluid from dispense device, hose leaks,
or ruptured components will pierce skin. This may
look like just a cut, but it is a serious injury that can
result in amputation. Get immediate surgical treat-
ment. Follow Pressure Relief Procedure in this
manual, when you stop dispensing and before clean-
ing, checking, or servicing equipment.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Wear appropriate protective equipment when in the
work area to help prevent serious injury, including eye
injury, hearing loss, inhalation of toxic fumes, and
burns.

6. Remove reservoir (1) from G3 base. Discard reser-
voir (1) according to local codes for proper disposal.
7. Examine follower plate seal (FPS, FIG. 4) and lower
reservoir seal (LRS) for wear or damage. If it is dam-
aged, it must be replaced. Part No. 175695 is avail-
able from Graco. Contact customer service to order
this part or your local Graco distributor.
Reassembly
Always use all of the new parts included in the kit for
reassembly.
1. Install reservoir (1) over the cover/spring/follower
plate assembly (FIG. 5).
2. Align reservoir assembly on base with vent facing
toward the rear left side of the G3 base.
3. Apply Loctite to bolts (9). Install tie rods (TR)
between the cover (C) and G3 base (B). Install bolts
and washers into the cover and tie rods on the top.
Securely tighten nuts (8) on the bottom of the tie
rods (FIG. 7).

NOTICE
Be careful when installing reservoir that the seal is
not pinched. If the seal is not correctly installed,
grease could leak out of the bottom of the G3 reser-
voir.

4. Tighten and torque top bolts (9) and bottom nuts (8)
to 78 to 87 in. lbs (8.81 to 9.83 N•m).
