Introduction
Thank you very much for purchasing a Graupner AMIGO V. This R/C glider model is
extremely versatile.
Read this manual carefully to achieve the best results with your AMIGO V and first of
all to safely control your models. If you experience any trouble during operation, take
the instructions to help or ask your dealer or Graupner Service Centre.
Due to technical changes, the information may be changed in this manual without
prior notice. Be always updated by checking periodically on our website,
www.graupner.de to be always uptodate with the products and firmware.
This product complies with national and European legal requirements.
To maintain this condition and to ensure safe operation, you must read and
follow this user manual and the safety notes before using the product!

This manual is part of that product. It contains important information
concerning operation and handling. Keep these instructions for future
reference and give it to third person in case you gave the product.

Intended use
The AMIGO V model is an R/C glider model. If desired, the model can be equipped
with motor set (not included).
Read through this entire manual carefully before you attempt to assemble or use the
AMIGO V.
For any improper use no guarantee or liability is assumed.
Graupner/SJ constantly works on the development of all products; we reserve the
right to change the item, its technology and equipment.
Target group
The item is not a toy. It is not suitable for children under 14. Young people should be
overwied and helped by experienced model makers while assembling and flying this
model. The assembly steps are described as follows and illustrated with assembly
photos and sketches.
If you do not have sufficient knowledge about assembling and dealing with aircraft
models, please contact an experienced modeler or a model club.

Safety notes
General
These safety instructions are intended not only to protect the product, but also for
your own and other people’s safety. Therefore please read this section very carefully
before using the product!
Do not leave the packaging material lying around, this could be a dangerous toy for
children.
Persons, including children, with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or
lack of experience or knowledge, or not capable to use safely the AMIGO V must not
use the model without supervision or instruction by a responsible person.
Operation and use of radio-controlled models needs to be learnt! If you have never
driven such a model, then start extra carefully and make sure to be familiar with the
reactions of the model to the remote control commands. Proceed responsibly.
Before you start using the remote control model, you have to check the further
relevant laws and regulations.
The user must be sure, before each use of RC model, about the functional safety and
the proper condition of the RC model.
The insurance is mandatory for all kinds of RC model operation.
Pay attention to the instruction included with the recommended transmitter.

General
The AMIGO V model is a classical Graupner airplane model that achieves
challenging flight performance. It is particularly characterized by a low airspeed and
best thermal airing properties. The design was based on the version AMIGO II from
1966. The wing and tail unit adopted are exactly like the original ones. The model
can start with a rubber-system, but it can optionally be flown with a motor set as a
motor glider. The construction of the model requires manual modelling skills and
should only be carried out or supported by experienced model builders.

Building instructions
Before starting the construction, please consult the building instructions together with
the building plan, so that you can get an overview of the sequence of the assembly.
Group the prepared components, tools and adhesives for a construction stage.
Remove the individual wood parts with the balsa cutter from the boards, if necessary

refine, pierce and sand them accordingly. When assembling, always pay attention to
a clean, smooth surface. Unless otherwise specified, use UHU-hard as an adhesive,
wipe off excess adhesive with absorbing paper. If necessary, fix the components with
fixing needles or adhesive tape until the adhesive has hardened.
Fuselage and rudder
Lay the building plan 1 on the building board and cover the area of the fuselage side
with a clear plastic film so that the components do not stick to the plan. Glue the right
side of the fuselage (1 and 2), stuck together with the drawing of the construction
plan. Glue the fuselage belt (3) exactly flush with the outer edge of part (1 and 2).
The left side of the fuselage must also be glued to the building plan. It is important to
note that the left side of the fuselage has to be removed from the base again so that
the back fuselage belt can be glued.

The prepared left side of the fuselage can now be fitted and glued. Make sure that
the two sides of the fuselage coincide with each other. Using weights, as shown in
the sketch, to keep the parts together until the adhesive is hard.
The illustration shows the front fuselage area; glue the ribs (7) and (8) as well as the
reinforcement (9) as shown in the figure. Be careful; make sure the fuselage is
symmetrical. To check the fuselage on the building plan, lay the fuselage facing to
you. Fix the components with the needles or adhesive tape until the adhesive is hard.

Grind the upper side of the fuselage with a sanding pad, then glue the parts (10).
Install the pushrod outer tubes (11). Use the pushrod inner tube to check the smooth
operation of the pushrods. Now glue the installed pushrod outer tubes with the
fuselage, use UHU Kraftkleber superstrong or instant cyano glue.
The sketch shows the glued-on fuselage bottom parts (12) to (14), before the gluing
of the fuselage sand again with a grinding block.

Glue the molded part (15), sand the edge of the fuselage and glue the fuselage head
(16). Use a special nut (17) to glue the tail plane support (18).
Glue the rudder made of parts (19) to (21) using cyano adhesive, please note the
section D-D on the construction plan sheet 1 and do not use an activator spray. Grind
the rudder according to section D-D and check that the rudder is easy to move. Insert
the finished rudder first into the fuselage. Check the fuselage from the front to see if it
fits exactly vertically, then glue it in place.

Fasten the parts (22) and (23) to the fuselage and glue them together. Glue the pin
(6a) into the rib (6). Glue the upper part of the magnetic lock (25) into the part (22),
press the metal tabs flat. Remove the cab frame from the fuselage and sand it. Glue
the cab cover (24) with UHU Kraftkleber superstrong and cut off the protruding
edges. Press the cab hood with the lower part of (25) on the fuselage. If everything
fits together, glue the lower part of (25) (together with the cabin cover). Apply
adhesive tape between the two parts (25) so that they do not stick together. Form the
fuselage using a balsa plane and a sanding block according to sections A-A, B-B and
C-C. After covering the model, glue the dowels (96) in place with a cyano adhesive.
Elevator
Lay the building plan 1 on the building surface and cover the area of the tail plane
with a clear plastic film so that the components do not stick to the plan.
