Important Information
REQUIRED TOOLS
The following list identifies the main tools needed to assemble the end frame.
Additional tools and supports may be needed depending on the structure,
location, and application.
• Tape measure or measuring device and level.
• Marker to mark locations on tubing.
• Variable speed drill or power driver (cordless with extra batteries works
best).
• Bits for drilling metal: 3/8", 7/16", 9/16", and 1".
• Wrenches and deep socket set that includes 3/8" socket and ratchet.
• Small hammers and a sledge hammer to drive vertical tubes.
• Gloves and eye protection.
• Hand clamps to hold tubes in position.
• Pliers or self-locking pliers to hold and install J-bolts.
• Ladders, work platforms, and other machinery for lifting designed to work
safely at building and end frame height.
ATTENTION: Consult the services of a qualified, professional contractor if
you are not familiar with constructing similar frame structures.
The individuals assembling this end frame are responsible for designing
and furnishing all temporary bracing, shoring and support needed during
the assembly process. For safety reasons, those who are not familiar with
recognized construction methods and techniques must seek the help of a
qualified contractor.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
• Wear eye, hand, and head protection.
• Use a portable GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) when working with
power tools and cords.
• Do not climb on framing during or after construction.
• Do not occupy the shelter during high winds, tornadoes, or hurricanes.
• Provide adequate ventilation if the structure is enclosed.
• Do not store hazardous materials in the shelter.
• Provide proper ingress and egress to prevent entrapment.

Thank you for purchasing this GrowSpan™ Endwall Header Kit. When properly assembled and maintained, this product will provide years of reliable service.
These instructions include helpful hints and important information needed to safely assemble and properly maintain the end frame. Please read these
instructions before you begin. If you have any questions during the assembly, contact Customer Service for assistance.
UNPACK AND IDENTIFY PARTS
The following steps help ensure you have all parts before you begin.
1. Unpack shipment and place where you can easily inventory parts. Refer
to Bill of Materials/Spec Sheets.
2. Verify all parts listed on Bill of Materials/Spec Sheets are present. If
anything is missing or you have questions, consult all diagrams for
clarification, or contact Customer Service.
NOTE: At this time, you do not need to open the plastic bags containing
smaller parts such as fasteners and clamps.

Important Information
ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE
Following these instructions helps ensure proper assembly of your end
frame. Steps outlining assembly are as follows:
1. Verify all parts are included in shipment. Notify Customer Service for
questions or concerns.
2. Read these instructions and all additional documentation included with
shipment before you begin.
3. Gather the tools, bracing, ladders (and lifts), and assistants needed to
assemble end frame.
4. Assemble end frame. (See steps on the next page.
5. Read and follow care and maintenance instructions.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Proper care and maintenance is important. Check these items periodically:
• Inspect all components regularly and frequently.
• Check connections and all fasteners to verify they remain tight and in
good repair.
• Do not climb or stand on shelter or end frame.
• Remove debris and objects that may accumulate on the shelter. Use
tools that will not damage the cover (if equipped) when removing debris.
• Remove snow to prevent excess accumulation. Use tools that will not
damage the cover (if equipped) when removing snow. Never allow
snow to accumulate on the cover or along sides and end panels after
removing snow.
• Replace all worn or damaged parts promptly.
CUSTOMER-SUPPLIED MATERIALS
If desired, the end wall columns can be set in concrete. Customer is respon-
sible for supplying the concrete and equipment to dig the holes.
IMPORTANT: If soil conditions are loose or sandy, setting the end wall col-
umns in concrete is required.
WARNING: The individuals assembling this end frame are responsible
for designing and furnishing all temporary bracing, shoring and support
needed during the assembly process. For safety reasons, those
who are not familiar with recognized construction methods and
techniques must seek the help of a qualified contractor.
QUICK START SECTION
For an overview of this end frame and connection details, consult the Quick
Start Section near the back of this manual.
ASSEMBLY NOTE: Install Tek screws using a clutched drill driver
running approximately 750 RPM while applying approximately 50 lbs
of force. Do not use an impact driver!

Construct End Frame
For best results, read through this assembly guide to better understand how to construct the end frame and to view important connection details. The steps
below describe one way to construct the end frame for your high tunnel.
ATTENTION: Assemble the entire main frame of the high tunnel before you install the end framing.
1. Locate the parts for the header tube and construct the header. See table
on Front Profile diagram page – Item A in Quick Start section of this
guide. Tube will be used to space vertical tubes at ground level.
3. Mark the center of the end rafter at ground level. Using the assembled
header as a guide, align the center of the header with the center of the
end wall.
4. Next, mark the vertical tube position at each end of the header tube
using a small stake or surveyor's paint. Refer to the Front Profile diagram
to confirm inside-to-inside door dimensions.
NOTE: End frame tubes attach to the rafter. Mark locations accordingly.
See Quick Start section near the end of this guide for diagrams.
NOTE: Use the 106730 eight (8) inch connector as a template to mark
the hole locations on each header tube.
2. After marking hole locations, place a scrap wood block under the tube
and drill holes through the tubes using a drill and a 9/16" drill bit.

Construct End Frame
IMPORTANT: If soil conditions are loose or sandy, setting the end wall
columns in concrete is required. Assembly of the end wall may differ if
end frame vertical tubes are set in concrete.
FOR CONCRETE ANCHORING: For best results, assemble the entire
end frame (header and vertical tubes), dig holes for vertical tubes, then
bolt tubes to end rafter at the required spacing determined by inside-to-
inside door opening. Allow lower end of each tube to extend into the hole
and fill hole with concrete. THIS PROCEDURE IS NOT SHOWN.
IF SITE IS ROCKY OR GROUND IS TOO HARD TO DRIVE TUBES
INTO PLACE WITHOUT SMASHING THE END, THEN TAKE
ALTERNATIVE STEPS TO SET THE END FRAME VERTICAL
COLUMNS. CONTACT A LICENSED CONTRACTOR FAMILIAR WITH
SITE LAYOUTS AND SETTING POSTS IN THE AREA.
8. Repeat the steps to set the lower pipe of the remaining vertical tube.
9. Attach a 106730 connector to each upper tube of the frame members
using the 1/2" hardware.
5. Take the lower tubes for each vertical tube and prepare the tubes as
previously described in Step 1 to install the 106730 connector.
6. Take the upper tubes of each frame member and repeat Step 1 to drill
holes in one end of those tubes. Set these upper tubes aside for later.
7. Take one lower pipe for the vertical tube and drive it 24" into the ground
using the QH1073 post driver and a sledge hammer. Pre-mark the 24"
dimension at end of the tube opposite the connector holes. Position the
1/2" bolt holes toward the door opening.

10. Secure the upper tubes to lower tubes. Position 1/2" bolt heads to the
inside (or door opening) of the frame to prevent interference with roll-up
door panel. Use a drill and bit to ream mounting holes in lower tube if
needed.

Construct End Frame
11. Locate the assembled header and slide one (1) 106735
square-tube band clamp onto each end to the tube. Install so
band clamps are oriented the same with the mounting flange
with bolt hole toward the top. See diagram at the right.
REMEMBER: Install 1/2" bolt heads toward the door opening.
12. Attach two (2) 111818 angled brackets to each end as shown
below and on Connection Details diagrams in Quick Start
section. Use two (2) FA4482B Tek screws per bracket.
13. With assistance and the proper ladders or lifts, measure the door opening height, which is 10'-2" from ground level to underside of header, and mark the
location on each of the vertical tubes.
14. Carefully lift the header assembly into position, align the header tube with the marks made in the previous step, and clamp the header brackets to the
vertical tubes. For best results, clamp one side, check that header is level, and clamp the other side. Recheck that header is level. Adjust if needed.
15. Secure top 111818 brackets to the vertical tubes, remove clamps (if needed), and secure lower brackets to frame tube.

Construct End Frame
16. Reposition clamps as needed to clamp the header to the end
rafter.
17. Using a drill and a 3/8" drill bit, drill a hole through the front of each
vertical tube and end rafter. See diagram above and Fig. A below.
18. Take the 5/16" hardware and secure each vertical tube to the end rafter.
See Fig. B above and also View 1 of the Connection Details diagram.
19. Continue with the angle brace installation shown in the next section.

Complete these steps to install the angle braces:
1. Using the Connection Details diagrams in the Quick Start section, attach an angle brace to each of the square-tube band clamps installed earlier on the
header. Fasteners are noted in the diagrams. Use the 12" x 12" squares of the grid to position the angle braces. Exact placement is not critical; however,
general position should follow what is shown in the grid diagram. DO NOT TIGHTEN THE MOUNTING BOLTS AT THIS TIME.
2. Adjust the angle brace and clamp position on the header so free end of brace touches the underside of the end rafter. Tap lightly with hammer to move.
3. Locate the two (2) band clamps for round pipe and install these over the end rafter at the point where each angle brace touches the end rafter. Install band
clamp as needed to align best with the header tube and angle braces.
ATTENTION: If the poly-latch u-channel is attached to the end rafter, loosen if possible, and install band clamps. In most instances, you should be able to
lightly tap clamps into place to attach angle braces. If film cover is installed, you may need to remove a small section of spring wire to access and loosen
the Tek screws that secure the u-channel. Once the band clamps are installed, reattach the u-channel and film.
4. Adjust band clamps and angle braces as needed and attach brace to band clamp on end rafter.
5. Verify braces are angled the same and in the desired position and tighten mounting bolts.
6. Return to all band clamps (round and square-tube) and install a Tek screw through each one into either the end rafter pipe or header tube.
7. Continue with the next procedure.
ATTENTION: DO NOT INSTALL ANY ROLL-UP DOOR BRACKETS UNTIL YOU INSTALL THE ROLL-UP DOOR PANEL. SEE THE FOLLOWING
PROCEDURES FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

Before the roll-up door panel and roof cladding are installed, install the end panel material above the door. Material is secured to the end frame tubes and to
the back of the end rafter. Use FA4482B Tek screws included with the end frame kit and the 102921B neo-bonded washers included with the main building
components. Follow these guidelines when installing panel material:
• ATTACH ALL PANELS TO THE BACKSIDE OF THE END RAFTER. DO NOT ATTACH
PANELS TO THE TOP OF THE END RAFTER. DOING SO WILL INTERFERE WITH THE
INSTALLATION OF U-CHANNEL FOR ROOF CLADDING INSTALLATION.
• SECURE UPPER PANEL
TO THE BACKSIDE OF THE
HEADER. FRONT OF HEADER IS
RESERVED FOR ROLL-UP DOOR
PANEL INSTALLATION.
• INSTALL UPPER PANEL FIRST

END PANEL INSTALLATION—Use DCC4931 Material
Consult the diagrams at the back of this manual to view the areas to cover and the basic material cut patterns for these areas. Use these steps to cut and
attach the material to the end wall frame.
1. Measure the area of the end wall that needs to be covered and cut a section from the bulk DCC4931 material. Allow extra to achieve the best fit.
NOTE: Due to differences in construction methods and customer-supplied support materials, the customer determines the best way to prepare the bulk
material for installation. See examples on the previous page.
2. Set the prepared material in place and attach it to the end rafter above the door using FA4482B Tek screws and 102921B neo-bonded washers. SPACE
FASTENERS AT 12" ON-CENTER FOR BEST RESULTS.
ATTENTION: Wrap end panel material around the end rafter and attach to the backside of the rafter using FA4482B Tek screws and neo-bonded washers
(102921). DO NOT attach to the top of the end rafter. Gently stretch material side-to-side to remove wrinkles.
3. Pull material down to header above door opening, wrap material around header, and attach to backside of header using Tek screws and washers. Do not
attach to the front of header tube. This surface is reserved for the installation of the roll-up door panel.
4. Continue with the next procedure.

Install Roll-Up Door Panel
After installing the upper end panel and before you install the side panels, install the roll-up door panel as described in this section. Complete these steps to
install the roll-up door panel. The J-bolts shown in the diagram below are installed in the next section.
1. Take one roll-up panel, move to one end of the frame, and unfold the panel.
2. With assistance, lift and center the panel against the 2" x 2" header and attach top edge to the header using FA4482B Tek screws and 102921B neo-
bonded washers. Verify that lower end of panel is on the ground. Space fasteners at 12" on-center.
ATTENTION: Position the panel pocket at the bottom and to the inside of the building.
3. After securing door panel to header, attach the 107923 one-way connectors to the vertical frame tubes.
These 107923 connectors are included with the main building components. Review the Connections Details
(Views 5-7) near the back of this guide for installation details.

J-Bolt Installation Steps
J-bolts secure the roll-up panel to the end frame when panel is closed. These bolts attach to the outside of each vertical end frame tube. For best results, install
the end panel material and roll-up door panel before installing the 3/8" J-bolts. See the main building instructions for end panel and roll-up door panel
installation before you install the J-bolts as shown in this document. See the next page for additional J-bolt installation photos.
Complete these steps to install the J-bolts:
1. After installing the roll-up end panel, mark the J-bolt locations on the side of
each 2" x 2" frame tube according to the main building instructions. There
are five (5) J-bolts for each side of the door opening.
2. Drill a 7/16" hole through both walls of the tube at each position/mark.
3. On the inside of the tube adjacent to the door opening, enlarge the 7/16"
hole to 1" using a 1" drill bit. Do not drill through both walls. Review
Connection Details (Views 5-7) in Quick Start section.
4. Assemble and install the J-bolts. Complete procedure on the next page,
then return to these steps.
5. Repeat the steps to install all remaining J-bolts.
6. Continue by installing roll-up panel conduit and spin handle as shown on
page 16 of this guide.

J-Bolt Installation Steps
Photos show a typical installation of a J-bolt in a 2" x 2" square tube. Use these steps to install the J-bolts for the end wall shown on the previous page.
a. Prepare 2" x 2" frame tubes as
described on previous page —
Steps 1-3.
e. Add the final 3/8" nut to the
J-bolt.
b. Thread nut onto J-bolt and add
a flat washer.
f. Thread onto bolt as far as
possible by hand.
c. Insert J-bolt though small hole
in 2" x 2" tube.
g. Tighten nut using 3/8" deep
socket and ratchet.
d. Carefully slide another flat
washer onto end of J-bolt.
h. Adjust bolt so J is toward the
building or end panel side.
i. Return to and continue with
Step 5 on the previous page.

Install Roll-Up Door Panel Conduit and Spin Handle
3. Insert the assembly into the pocket at the bottom of the panel. Verify that
the assembly runs between the guide post and the end frame verticals.
Allow a few inches to extend beyond the panel opposite the crank handle
to keep the conduit in place during operation.
4. With the assembly in the proper position, flip up the skirt at the bottom of
the panel to secure the conduit to the end panel using ten (10) CC6212
fabric clips and Tek screws. Space clips evenly along the conduit.
Sample panel is shown at the right. Actual panel may differ.
5. Make a vertical cut in the skirt to fit around the lower guide post
connector (107923) if needed. Do not cut through the end panel.
6. Test the roll-up panel.
7. Next, attach the end panel material to cover the areas along each side of
the installed roll-up panel. See next page.
ATTACH CONDUIT AND SPIN HANDLE TO ROLL-UP DOOR PANEL
ATTENTION: Parts for the conduit and spin handle are included with the
main building. These are identified in the diagram below and in the Quick
Start section of the main building instructions.
Complete these steps:
1. Use the diagram below to assemble the conduit and spin handle for the
roll-up door panel. Parts are included with main building components.
2. Secure each pipe splice using a Tek screw and wrap the Tek screw and
splice with duct tape to protect the panel pocket.
Install clip.

roll-up panel. See diagram below. Secure panels to framing using FA4482B Tek screws
and 102921B neo-bonded washers. Space at approximately 12" on-center. Space
closer if in high wind areas if you have enough fasteners.
