The HAAN GS-30 must be connected to a grounded (3-prong)
wiring system. Grounding provides a safe path of least
resistance for electrical current, in the event the unit should
malfunction or break down, thereby reducing the risk of
electrical shock. The cord for this product has an equipment-
grounding conductor and a grounding plug. Do not plug it into
an outlet that is not properly installed and grounded in
accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you
aren’t sure if the outlet is properly grounded. If it will not
fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified
electrician. This appliance is designed for use on a nominal
120-volt circuit and has a grounding attachment plug as
illustrated above. Make certain that the appliance is connected
to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No
plug adapter should be used with this appliance.
If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, the electrical
rating should be at least as great as the electrical rating of
the appliance. Cords rated for less currency may overheat.
Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot
be pulled or tripped over.

Using the Garment Steamer Accessories:
Please use each accessory properly with regard
to the item and/or location to be cleaned. Refer
below for instructions and tips for use of each.
Crease Tool and extra Clip:
• The Crease Tool attaches to the steam head for
perfect creases or crisp shirt cus and collars. Just
clip it to the tab on the underside of the steam head.
Place the garment between the steam head and the
open Crease Tool, close to hold the crease rmly
while steaming it to set. (Fig 9)
Use the extra clip to hold sleeves tight while
steaming or as extra tension on hems using the
bottom crossbar. (Fig 10)
When attending to detailed pressing of a garment,
one hand can be used to control the wand of the
steam head and the other hand, in the Pressing
Mitt, can hold the garment so that tension can be
achieved. There is an additional clip that can be
used to help hold the garment. The hand holding
the garment and the hand holding the wand should
move in unison for quick and easy steaming.
Up and Down:
• When steaming clothing using the Garment Valet,
move the wand lightly in upward and downward
movements. Wagging the handle side to side can
result in water droplets falling from the steam head
openings. (Fig 11a & 11b)
CAUTION: Never hold steam head down while at
rest or tilt it in a backward position as this may result
in hot water discharge.

HELPFUL HAAN HINT:
Your Cleaning Sock and
MicroCham™ Towel/Sponge
are machine washable. You
may also dry your them in a
machine dryer on a low
setting, but for longer life,
we recommend air drying.
HELPFUL HAAN HINT:
DO NOT use fabric softener
when washing the Cleaning
Sock, or MicroCham™ Towel/
Sponge as this will compromise
the absorbency of the material.
!
i
CAUTION
Do not use the Garment Steamer
on glass/windows if they are cold.
Doing so may result in the glass
cracking due to the hot steam.

Care & Maintenance
Always be sure that your
Garment Steamer Garment
Steamer is UNPLUGGED from
the wall receptacle prior to
cleaning or before emptying
the water tank.
Mineral Deposits:
One problem with a steamer appliance is the mineral
deposits caused by the high mineral content in many
municipal water supplies. Mineral residue inside of
the internal pipes and heater can cause intermittent
steaming or, in some cases, no steam at all.
To reduce or eliminate the occurrence of mineral deposits,
we recommend the use of de-mineralized or distilled
water in the unit. However, regular tap water may be
used in the Garment Steamer.
If regular tap water is used, we recommend the use
of a ‘Lime & Scale Remover’ every 2 or 3 months to
ensure optimum functionality from your HAAN
Professional Garment Steamer You can purchase
this directly from the HAAN web site (see below).
Steamer Maintenance:
• Clean and rinse your steamer regularly.
• Never use additives such as salt, perfume and dyes.
Only additives authorized by HAAN are acceptable
to use in the Garment Steamer. Do not introduce
detergents and/or soap to the water tank. These
substances will corrode or clog internal parts.
• When steaming clothes using the Garment Steamer
hold the steam head in a vertical, upright position.
Hold the steam head vents away from you and
steam in a vertical up and down motion. This
will allow the condensation in the hose to flow
back into the steamer.
• Do not pull the steamer by the power cord; pulling
the steamer by the power cord may cause the
internal wiring to become loose.
• Be sure to turn your HAAN Garment Steamer off
and unplug the unit from the electrical outlet
before doing any maintenance.
• To clean the exterior body of your Garment
Steamer, wipe it down with a damp cloth.
Storing the HAAN Garment Steamer:
Before storing the steamer for an extended period
(30 days or more), empty all water from the unit.
Water becomes stale with time and may clog
internal parts. Be sure to allow the unit to cool
completely before removing excess water.

HELPFUL HAAN HINT:
DO NOT add cleaning
solutions, scented perfumes,
oils or any other chemicals
to the water used in this
appliance except those
authorized by HAAN. While
it is acceptable to use
regular tap water, if the tap
water in your area is hard,
we recommend you use
distilled/purified water to
extend the life of your
appliance. Always empty
water from water tank
after use.

Be sure to turn the Power Button to the OFF position
and unplug the unit. Drain all the remaining water from
the orange removable Resevoir Tank by unscrewing
the Water Rell Cap on the underside of the tank
and emptying any excess water. (Fig 23)
Then drain the interior tank by opening the Excess
Water Removal Valve found on the side of the
canister (Fig 24) and emptying the excess water.
We do not recommend storing the unit with water
in the tank for long periods of time.
Storing the HAAN Garment Steamer with Garment Valet:
• Open the telescoping pole locks and lower the
pole to its lowest position.
• Position the Cross bar mid-way up the lower end
of the pole to give room to move the Crossbars
out of the way. Grasp the center pivot of the
Crossbar, pull and twist it to a vertical position.
• Hang the Steam Wand from the Wand Cradle.
• Turn the clips to the side and move them towards
the center pole. Lower the hanger sides by unscrewing
them from the center pole. The sides of the hanger
will collapse and hang vertical for storage.
• Prepare the unit for storage by looping the power
cord and attaching it by a twist tie to the vertical
Crossbar. (Fig 25)
• Store the unit upright in a protected dry cool area.
