FR2 HYDRO-HEATER FOOD RETHERMALIZERS / BAIN-MARIE HEATERS
Models FR2-3, -4, -6 FR2-3B, -4B, -6B, -9B
The Hatco Hydro-Heater is a state-o -
the-art, high e iciency circulation water
heater, using a combination o “ ree- low”
technology and advanced electronic
controls or circulating hot water by
natural convection in a sink or
reconstituting rozen oods.
This heater eatures a tubular water
chamber with heating elements uniquely
wrapped outside the low tube so
elements do not come in direct contact
with the water. The design eliminates
sediment and lime buildup on the
element, resulting in longer li e. A special
electronic controller maintains the
setpoint temperature assuring
a responsive and e icient operation.
FLEXIBILITY
As a ood reconstitutor, the Hydro-
Heater FR2 heats or holds ood at sa e
temperatures between 140°F and 190°F
(60°-88°C).
QUALITY
The ollowing eatures assure the inest
per ormance or years to come:
• Utilizes “ ree- low” technology and
advanced electronic controls to assure
a responsive and e icient operation.
• All models include a stainless steel
ront, powdercoated body, convenient
drain outlet, and clean-out caps.
Model FR2-3

WATER QUALITY REQUIREMENTS
Incoming water in excess o 3.0 grains o hardness per gallon (GPG)
(.75 grains o hardness per liter) must be treated and so tened be ore
being supplied to water heater(s). Water containing over 3.0 GPG
(.75 GPL) will decrease the e iciency and reduce the operating li e
o the unit.
Note: Product failure caused by liming or sediment buildup is not
covered under warranty
FOOD RETHERMALIZING REQUIREMENTS
NSF Standard 4 has added per ormance requirements or ood rethermalizing. The requirements mirror
the requirements or ood rethermalizing in the FDA Food Code. The basic requirement is that ood
reaches a temperature o 165°F (74°C) in a time period o two hours or less.
Appliances that are manu actured or the purpose o rethermalizing ood will need to meet these
per ormance requirements in order to be listed to NSF Standard 4.
Hatco sells a heating unit speci ically made to be used or ood rethermalizing, however, the heating
unit is designed to be incorporated into a hot water bath rethermalizer. Hatco does not supply the vessel
that contains the water, nor the system which determines how ood is placed and held in the vessel.
The Hatco FR2 unit simply attaches to the bottom o the vessel and supplies hot water to the vessel.
Hatco does supply sizing recommendations to enable the appliance manu acturer to correctly size the
FR2 unit to the vessel. However, there are variables in the way that the vessel is manu actured that a ect
its ability to pass the NSF per ormance requirements. The Hatco FR2 unit is listed with NSF or
construction only. Due to the act that the FR2 is only a portion o a larger system, it is impossible to do
per ormance testing until the FR2 unit is incorporated onto the water vessel.
The result is that it is the responsibility o the vessel manu acturer to have the entire rethermalizing
appliance tested and listed in accordance with NSF Standard 4. Simply hanging an NSF listed FR2 unit
on the appliance does not trans er NSF listing to the entire appliance.
