Usage and product description
The air curtain is designed to prevent the entry of the cold ambient air into
a building and to reduce the thermal losses inside the premises. The
curtain is designed for the operation in premises with the ambient
temperature of from -10°C to +40°C and the relative humidity up to 80%
(at the temperature +25°C).
The HSAC3 is manufactured from sheet steel coated with a high-quality
polymer. The ‘body’ of the unit contains heating elements, the fan modules
and the control switches. The fans draw in the air through the front
perforated grid of the body (2); the airflow passing through the heating
elements is heated, enters the ventilation assembly and released through
the air-relief nozzle (3) as the directed flow.
The HSAC3 also has a cool air circulation function in addition to ‘full’ and
’half’ power heating functions.
Before Installation
Select a suitable position for installation, allowing free access all around
and no closer than 100mm to the ceiling. For wide doorways, these units
may be mounted end-to-end, but allowing a suitable gap for the mounting
brackets if these are used, and for access and cable entry.
Installation
The HSAC3 may be fixed directly to the surface above an entry or for
greater operational flexibility may be installed using the supplied mounting
brackets. See overleaf for details.

Safety Instructions
• Please read these installation and operating
instructions before using the product. Failure to do so
may cause injury or void the warranty.
• This Air Curtain is NOT suitable for installation in a
hostile environment.
• DO NOT operate the heat curtain in premises with
the relative humidity >80%.
• The heater MUST be earthed when installed.
• DO NOT switch on the heater if the covers are
removed.
• If the curtain is connected directly to the fixed wiring it
must be provided with an automatic circuit breaker or
tripping device.
• ALWAYS conform to the general safety rules for
electrical devices.
• DO NOT cover the unit and do not limit the air flow
at the inlet and outlet,
• DO NOT operate the unit if there is visible damage to
the unit or power supply.
• Only a suitable qualified person should install and
maintain the unit, otherwise there may be a risk of,
electric shock or fire.
• To avoid electric shock disconnect the device from the
power mains before starting cleaning or maintaining.

The units are protected in the event of fan failure, or an obstruction of the
free airflow, by thermal PTC Self Hold Cut-outs. Having tripped, the PTC
cut-out remains open, effectively switching off the heating elements, as
long as mains power is available inside the appliance.
NOTE: The unit MUST be reliably earthed.
For safety reasons a sound earth connection must always be made to the
unit before it is put to use. The unit should be wired in accordance with IEE
Regulations for the Electrical Equipment of Buildings.

Operation
The HSAC3 provides heated air in full and half power options as well as
cool air recirculation, and is operated with the control module locate on
the underside of the body, There are 3 switches – see figure 5 overleaf –
each with a green illuminated lamp indicating power/function status, which
when used in combination provide all functions of the unit:
1 Power on and cool air circulation
1+2 Power on and ‘half power’ heating
1+2+3 Power on and ‘full power’ heating
Installing directly on the wall
The unit has two slots on its back panel allowing the unit to be directly
mounted to a wall – see figure 1, on page 3. Make sure enough space is
available for the supply cable entry to the unit.
Installing using the adjustable brackets supplied
Remove mounting bracket screws, allowing the mounting bracket to be
removed from the unit. Making sure that the mounting bracket is
horizontal, fix the bracket to the wall using 4 x No 8 wood screws. Place
the unit on the mounting bracket ensuring the washer is positioned as in
diagram. Tighten screws to hold the unit at the required angle.

Electrical connections
This unit is suitable for connection to a 230/240 volt 50 Hz single phase
AC supply. The heater consumes 3kW at 230 volts when switched to the
full heat position.
The appliance should be connected to the supply via a circuit in which
there is an all-pole switch. Test for correct operation and refit the cover.

should be set to off before switching off
the power, using switch 1

Maintenance
Always ensure that the main external
electricity supply is switched off before
attending to the servicing of the unit. To obtain best results from your
heater it is necessary to avoid the build up of dust and dirt within the unit
and on the air inlet and discharge grilles. For this reason regular cleaning
is necessary, paying particular attention to the removal of dirt build up on
the rotor blades. A single drop of light oil should be applied to the motor
bearing from time to time.
