Product Overview
The RocketStor 6661A-mSAS1 allows you to quickly add a 4x SATA ports HBA to your Thunderbolt™ 3
capable computing platform. The ultra slim, lightweight design is ideal for compact form-factor
workstation and portable computers, and is fully compatible with Mac platforms. It also utilizes
HighPoint's Industry-proven RAID engine and supports a wide-range of single-disk and RAID
configurations including 0, 1, 5, 10 and JBOD. The RocketStor 6661A-mSAS1 is fully backwards
compatible with SATA 3Gb/s devices. Each RocketStor 6661A-mSAS1 directly supports up to 4 SATA
devices, and up to 20 when used in conjunction with port multiplier storage devices. The HighPoint RAID
Management Software provides a user friendly interface to create, manage and maintain your storage
solutions.

Enclosure Setup
1. Connect the Power Adapter to the RocketStor 6661A-mSAS1
2. Connect the RocketStor 6661A-mSAS1 to the host system using a ThunderboltTM cable

Thunderbolt Installation
Before proceeding on to subsequent software installation, please make sure the Thunderbolt software
detects the RocketStor 6661A-mSAS1 after finishing setup.
1. After connecting the RocketStor 6661A-mSAS1 to the system, a pop-up window should be
displayed asking you to approve or reject the RocketStor 6661A Thunderbolt Device connection.
2. Select Always Connect from the drop-down menu, then click OK
Driver Installation
Drivers provide a way for your operating system to communicate with your new hardware. Updating to
the latest available driver ensures your product benefits from the most recent performance, stability,
and compatibility improvements. Drivers are updated regularly at www.highpoint-tech.com
1. Obtain the latest driver software for the RocketStor 6661A-mSAS1 from our website:

2. Locate and extract the downloaded folder

3. Right click the Windows logo on the bottom left of the screen
4. Select Device Manager
5. Under Other Devices, RAID Controller should appear
6. Right click on RAID Controller and select Update driver
7. Select Browse my computer for driver software

8. Select Browse
9. Find the driver folder downloaded and extracted previously and select the x32 folder if using a
32 bit system or the x64 folder if using a 64 bit system. Then, select OK

11. If installed properly, you should see the below appear on your screen

13. To double check that the driver installed properly, in the Storage controllers tab in Device
Manager, make sure the RocketRAID 644LS SATA Controller is present

Checking Your Driver Version
1. Go to Device Manager and click on the Storage controllers tab
2. Right click on the RocketRAID 644LS SATA Controller and select Properties
3. Click the Driver tab and look at the Driver Version section to check

Updating the Drivers
1. Obtain the latest driver files for the RocketStor 6661A-mSAS1 from http://www.highpoint-
tech.com/USA_new/series-rs6661a-msas1-download.htm
2. Go to Device Manager
3. Click on the Storage controllers tab
4. Right click on the RocketRAID 644LS SATA Controller and select Update Driver
5. Click Browse my computer for driver software
6. Select the driver files you downloaded
7. Click Next
8. Restart the system

Uninstalling the Driver
1. Go to Device Manager
2. Click on the Storage controllers tab
3. Right click on the RocketRAID 644LS SATA Controller and select Uninstall
4. Restart the system
Installing the HighPoint RAID Management (WebGUI)
The HighPoint RAID Management, otherwise known as the WebGUI, is the primary link between you and
your RAID array. Using the management utilities and menus offered by the WebGUI, you would be able
to access, create, and maintain your RAID arrays.
New features are continually added to the interface. The most updated version is at
http://www.highpoint-tech.com/USA_new/series-rs6661a-msas1-download.htm.
1. Download the WebGUI files from http://www.highpoint-tech.com/USA_new/series-rs6661a-
msas1-download.htm.
2. Locate the folder in which you downloaded the files to and run HighPoint RAID
Management.exe
3. Follow the on screen steps to install the WebGUI

4. Log into the Management by double clicking the desktop icon (see below), or by typing
http://localhost:7402 in your preferred web browser’s address line (we recommend using the
latest browser version
How to Login to the HighPoint RAID Management
You can reach the WebGUI log in page either by:
Double clicking on the HighPoint RAID Management icon created on your desktop
Opening your preferred web browser and typing http://localhost:7402 in the address bar
Note: You can set the password under the Setting tab
Remote Login
A user connected to a local network can remotely access the WebGUI using the IP address of the host
device.
To obtain your IP address
1. Open a command prompt window on the host computer
2. Type ipconfig
3. Look for the section that contains your network adapter information
4. Look at the IP address section
Note: Make sure the Restrict to localhost access is disabled in the WebGUI Setting tab

You can then remotely access the WebGUI using any other computer that is in your local network by
opening any web browser and typing http://{IP address of host compute}:7402 (default port is 7402)
Formatting the RAID Volumes
After creating a RAID array, your operating system will recognize that array as a logical disk. However,
the array will not be accessible until it is formatted by the operating system.
Format the volume when you have finished the following procedures
1. Set up the RocketStor 6661A-mSAS1
2. Install Driver and WebGUI software
3. Create an Array
For Windows users
1. Right click the Windows logo on the bottom left of the screen
2. Select Disk Management
3. If you just created the array, a prompt will appear after clicking disk management asking you to
initialize the disk

a. MBR partition table is mainly for bootable drives and has a 2 TB limit. If your PC
motherboard uses legacy BIOS, you will most likely need to use MBR for bootable drives.
b. GPT partition table has no capacity limit, but cannot be bootable unless your PC
motherboard contains UEFI firmware
4. Once initialized, right click the unallocated disk space for your disk and select New Simple
Volume
5. Follow the instructions on screen to receive a drive letter

6. Follow the instructions on screen to create a disk name
7. Once finished, the drive will appear in your OS with the name and letter you assigned
Please note your disk may initially appear offline to the operating system and you may have to bring it
online
1. In Disk Management, right click the disk you wish to bring online
2. The disk status will change to Not Initialized, right click the disk again to initialize it.

Driver Installation
