GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER
Instructions for Installation and Use
The SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER is an anchorage device that offers
protection against falls when performing work at height. Different fixed anchorage
collars are available and are approved in accordance with standard EN 795, Class
A1.
The SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER meets the requirements of standard EN
795C Class A and has been developed to enable up to four operators to be connected
at the same time.

General Information
Work at height may be hazardous and lead to accidents or serious injury. The use
of our products is reserved for competent persons having received the proper
training or who work under the responsibility of a competent superior.
Train to use this equipment and make sure that you have understood its operation.
IN CASE OF ANY DOUBT, DO NOT USE AND SEEK ASSISTANCE
It is compulsory to be in good physical condition in order to perform work at height.
An anchorage device is intended for use with other components that are part of
personal fall arrest systems (EN 363).
It can be used with a retractable fall arrester (EN 360) or energy absorber (EN
355).
Where the anchorage device is used as part of a fall arrest system, the user shall
be provided with means to limit the maximum dynamic forces applied on the user
when stopping a fall, with a maximum value of 6 kN.
Before using it for the first time, a rescue plan must be in place to be prepared for
any emergency when using the equipment.
Make sure, before using PPE with the SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER,
that there is sufficient clearance beneath the user to prevent any collision with the
ground.
In each case ensure that the anchor point:
• is correctly located and work is executed in a way that most limits the danger
and height of a fall,
• is located above the user.
TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION, SEE THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
CORRESPONDING TO THE PPE CONCERNED.
This equipment must not be used for any other application than that described
in the instructions. No modification or addition to this equipment can be made
without the prior written consent of the manufacturer. Any repair must be made in
accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines.

A  IMPORTANT REMARKS
A1. These instructions must be conveyed to all users of the SÖLL TOTEM
DURAHOIST POST MILLER anchorage system before they begin to use this
device. It is essential, for user safety, for the instructions to be provided in
the language of the country of use. Non-compliance with the instructions
described in this manual could have serious consequences. The user must
have received proper training and be experienced in using this equipment or
any other equipment related to it. We advise you to reread these instructions
periodically.
A2.The owner of the anchorage device must make sure that these instructions
remain easily accessible and are located in a safe place at the installation
location.
A3. The operator must be able to produce these instructions on the manufacturer’s
request (HONEYWELL FALL PROTECTION) or to one of its approved sellers.
A4. Before connecting PPE (EN 360 or EN 355) to the ‘‘SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST
POST MILLER’’, it is essential to comply with the specific recommendations
for each piece of equipment as defined in the instructions provided by the
manufacturer.
A5. Each time it is used, it is necessary to have a rescue plan in place.
A6. The SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER anchorage device cannot be
used for any purpose other than for which it has been designed. For example,
it must not be used as lifting equipment or as support for loads.
A7. The SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER anchorage device must not be
exposed to chemicals or to any hazardous substances.
A8. The Site Director or equivalent of the installation company must complete the
Control List (Section E), clearly and properly, using permanent ink.
A9. Depending on the conditions of use, the anchorage device must be inspected
at least once a year by a competent person.
A10. Only safety gear compliant with standard EN 361 may be used with the fall
arrest system.
B  INSTALLATION
B1. Important!
Prior to installation, it is the responsibility of the Project Manager, Technical
Research Department or the Company that carries out the installation to ensure
that the structure onto which the collar is mounted is able to hold the SÖLL
TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER.
The support must withstand the forces transmitted by the device.
This must be confirmed in writing by a qualified engineer.
The maximum force to occur shall be = 13 kN at the summit of the station, 1.4m
high, with an angle of 90° in each direction.

B2. Welding to a steel structure:
The base of the anchorage point must be welded, either peripherally or as indicated in Fig.
B1. The installer shall be responsible for the proper welding operation, prevention against
corrosion and, when needed, ensure watertightness of the roof. The stainless steel base is
of a grade of 316, A4.
B3. Bolting onto the Supporting Structure
The bolt-on base of the SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER must be
fastened using eight M12 pins and M12 nylstop locknuts and washers suitable for
a steel supporting structure, as indicated in Fig. B2.
M12 pins can be welded to the base or screwed into the latter. The installer shall
be responsible for preventing corrosion and, when needed, for ensuring the
watertightness of the roof.

B4. Bolting through the steel supporting structure:
- The bolt-on collar of the SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER must be
fastened using eight M12 A4-70 bolts, M12 A4 nylstop locknuts and washers
suitable for a rigid steel foundation, as indicated in Fig. B3. The supporting
structure must be of a minimum thickness of 6mm.
- The holes in the supporting structure must be 13mm to 14mm.
- The installer shall be responsible for preventing corrosion and, if necessary, for
ensuring watertightness of the roof. The base is in 316 grade stainless steel.
B5 – Fixing to a concrete support
- The SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER collar for concrete must be used
for all concrete supports. This collar is fixed to the support using four HILTI
HVU-HAS-R M12x110 chemical anchors (stainless steel) or equivalent (*).
For installations with the following features:
- C20/25 non-cracked concrete
- Plain concrete or distance between frameworks>= 150mm (all Ø) or >= 100mm
(<= 10mm),
observe the instructions below
For assembly using a different fixing system from that recommended, ensure
performances are the same and observe the manufacturer’s instructions.
(1) Th: minimal thickness of the concrete support according to the temperature
ranges of the concrete during the life span of the work (see table below)
(2) Assembly must take place with strict observation of the instructions stated in
the product leaflet of the HILTI HVU-HAS-R M12x110 chemical anchors.

C3. The SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER is intended to
hold a maximum of two people on each anchorage ring and a maximum
of four people on the whole of the pole, including the collar.
The pole must be inserted completely into the base to ensure that the red
marking is not visible.

C  SETTING UP THE POLE
C1. The SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER has been designed as an
anchorage point to protect a maximum number of four people against
falls.
C2. The base of the SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER can
be used as an anchorage point for two people on each rib, up to a
maximum four people as indicated in the drawing below.
Pull the safety catch (1) on the base and insert the column fully. Thus is the
column is secured in the base. It can rotate but cannot spin free from the base if
the safety catch is not pulled out (1), as shown above.

Precautions before use
Before using, a visual and tactile inspection of the device must be carried out to
make sure that it is in a satisfactory operating condition.
Before any use, check:
That the markings are legible and that the product labels are in good condition.
The user of the device must read the recommendations relating specifically to each
component to be used with the SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER (harnesses,
lanyards, karabiners, etc.) and ensure compliance and correct use.
It is essential to
verify before using, each time, that there is a suitable minimum clearance in case
of a fall (observing the presence of any obstacle or obstruction that presents a
hazard in a fall situation).
Check that the anchorage device that you have just bought is compatible with the
recommendations for the other components of the fall protection system and that
their safety features do not interfere with each other.
Warning!
In the event of a fall being stopped by the SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST
MILLER, the anchorage collar may have been subject to deterioration. If there
is any doubt as to its integrity, the anchorage collar must not be used until the
device is checked either by the manufacturer, an approved body or an
accredited and competent person.
The SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER can only be used together with the
following safety accessories:
• For work presenting a risk of falling, fall arrest systems in compliance with
standard EN 363 and shock absorbers in compliance with standard EN 355;
retractable lifelines EN 360.
• As part of a workplace restraint system, in compliance with standard EN 358
• Rescue system in compliance with standards EN 1496, 1497 and 1498.
Danger!
The lanyard karabiner (EN 362) or the safety block (EN 360) must not be re-
moved from the anchorage device before the user is protected from falls via
other means.
D  UPKEEP AND MAINTENANCE
D1. The SÖLL TOTEM DURAHOIST POST MILLER is manufactured from
aluminium and the anchorage rings in 316 grade stainless steel. The bolt-on
or weld-on bases are in 316 grade stainless steel that does not require any
special care.
D2. For safety purposes, never repair components. Damaged components (e.g.
after a fall) must always be replaced.
D3. Only original spare parts or those approved by the manufacturer can be used
for purposes of replacement.
D4. Warning!
An anchorage device that is faulty or has stopped a fall cannot continue
to be used. It can be reused only if a competent person has approved it for
subsequent use.

The product must always bear an identification plate.
A competent person is:
A person who, as a result of his training and experience in the field of personal
protective equipment in the realm of fall protection has acquired enough knowledge
of the governmental and local laws that apply to safety as well as the standards
(e.g. EN standards), which therefore means that he is capable and authorized to
evaluate the condition of fall protection products and systems and judge whether
they are suitable or not.
D5.If the anchoring is not used, store it in a clean, dry and well-ventilated place,
protected from fumes, corrosive agents and adverse environmental effects. These
rules also apply to equipment transport.
D6. Periodic inspection to check the equipment's effectiveness and resistance is
essential to ensure the user's safety. The equipment must be inspected at least
once a year by a qualified person and in strict compliance with the manufacturer’s
instructions; the verification to be recorded on the attached sheet and by placing a
sticker on the product (see Fig.D2)
D7. Two identification plates (Fig. D1), situated at the collar of the anchorage pole,
contain the following information:
• Commercial brand: Honeywell Miller
• Standard: EN795:2012-A
• Product reference
• 4 users maximum
• Pictogram warning the operator to read the instructions
