Introduction
1.1 About the RMA805 Enraf FlexLine Remote Indicator
The RMA805 Enraf FlexLine Remote Indicator providesameans of remote-mounting a display
that is associated with a Honeywell Enraf FlexLine Gauge. The Remote Indicator can be located
hundreds of meters away from the FlexLine Gauge providing easy access to data.
The Remote Indicator must be connected to the local HART compatible bus of the Enraf
Smartradar FlexLine or the Enraf SmartServo 954.
The Remote Indicator can be used in hazardous or non-hazardous environments. When either the
FlexLine Gauge or the Remote Indicator is used in a hazardous environment, the Remote Indicator
must be configured as per local installation codes.
The display module fitting allows for rotation in 90-degree increments, allowing the Remote
Indicator to be mounted in various orientations.

1.6 Remote Indicator Nameplate
The Remote Indicator name plate at the top of the electronics housing (see Figure 1) lists model
number, physical configuration, electronics options, accessories, certifications, and manufacturing
specialties.

Identification of the series and basic Remote Indicator type is captured in the last digit in the key
number. The last digit represents the type.
•A value of 5 in the last digit means the Remote Indicator type is RMA805 Enraf
FlexLine Remote Indicator

Model Selection Guide provided as a separate document.
1.7 Safety Certification Information
An “approvals” nameplate is located on the bottom of the electronics housing; (see Figure 1 for the
exact location.) The approvals nameplate contains information and service marks that disclose the
Remote Indicator compliance information. Refer to Appendix A of this document for safety
certification requirements and details.

Installation and Startup
2.1 Installation Site Evaluation
Evaluate the site selected for the RMA805 Enraf FlexLine Remote Indicator installation with
respect to the process system design specifications and Honeywell’s published performance
characteristics for your particular model. Some parameters that you may want to include in your
site evaluation are:
•Environmental Conditions:
oAmbient Temperature

oRadio Frequency Interference (RFI)
oElectromagnetic Interference (EMI)
•Vibration Sources
oMotorized System Devices (e.g., pumps)
2.2 Display Installation Precautions
Temperature extremes can affect display quality. The display can go blank if the temperature is
below -20°C or above +70°C; however, this is only a temporary condition. The display will again
be readable when temperatures return to within operable limits.
2.3 Mounting the Remote Indicator
Remote Indicator models can be attached to a two-inch (50.8 millimeter) vertical or horizontal
pipe using Honeywell’s optional pipe mounting bracket. The Remote Indicator can also be wall
mounted using Honeywell’s optional wall mounting bracket as shown in Figure 5.
2.3.1 Mounting Dimensions
Refer to Honeywell drawing number 51455045*for detailed electronic housing dimensions. Refer
to Honeywell drawing numbers 32306827*for detailed pipe mounting dimensions, 50124813*for
Detailed Pipe Angle mounting dimensions and 32306828*for detailed wall mounting dimensions.
Abbreviated overall dimensions are also shown on the Specification Sheets for the Remote
Indicator models. Its assumed that the mounting dimensions have already been considered and the
mounting area can accommodate the Remote Indicator.
2.3.2 Bracket Mounting Procedure
1. Pipe Mount Option. Refer to figures below. Align the two mounting holes at the bottom of
the Remote Indicator with the two slots in the mounting bracket and assemble the (2) M8
hex cap screws, (2) lock washers and (2) flat washers provided.
2. Rotate the Remote Indicator assembly to the desired position and torque the M8 hex cap
screws to 27 Nm/20 lb-ft maximum

3. Position the bracket on a 2-inch (50.8 mm) horizontal or vertical pipe, and install a “U”
bolt around the pipe and through the holes in the bracket. Secure the bracket with (2) M10
hex nuts, (2) flat washers and (2) lock washers provided. Refer Figure 7.

2.3.3 Wall Mounting Procedure
Wall Mount Option – Refer to Figure 9 Position the bracket on the mounting surface at the desired
location and secure the bracket to the mounting surface using the appropriate hardware (Wall
mounting hardware requirements to be determined and supplied by the end user).

2.4 Wiring a Remote Indicator
2.4.1 Introduction
The Remote Indicator must be connected to the local HART compatible bus of the Enraf
Smartradar FlexLine or the Enraf SmartServo 954.
2.4.2 Terminal Block
The Remote Indicator has 3 terminals. Following table provides the connection details:
•The screw terminals are suitable for wirings up to 16AWG (1.3 mm2)
•Shielded, twisted-pair cable such as Belden 9318 or equivalent must be used for all wiring.
•The cable shield must be connected at only one end of the cable. Connect it to the
FlexLine Gauge side and leave the shield insulated at the Remote Indicator side.
Note: If solid core wire is used strip insulation 1/4 in (6 mm). Once inserted under the square
washer the stripped portion should be contained under the square washer. If multi-stranded wire is
used, a ferrule is to be used and the stripped wire should be in the insulated portion of the ferrule.
The ferrule can be also be used on the solid core wire.

ATTENTION
Wiring must comply with local codes, regulations and ordinances. Grounding
may be required to meet various approval body certifications, for example CE
conformity. Refer to Appendix A of this document for details.
