Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1 Features
TheScanDomeIITM Keyboard Controller andtheScanDome IITM domecameramake upthe
buildingblocks for anysurveillance/securitysystem. Using multiple Keyboard Controllers and
multiple domecameras, no place is too large for monitoring. Extensible and flexible architecture
facilitates remotecontrol functionsfor avarietyofexternal switchingdevices suchas
multiplexers and DVRs.
•Built-in 25 timesopticalpower zoom camerawith TrueNight Shot function.(HSDN-251 Series)
•240 Preset positions.
•8 Tours consist of Preset, Pattern, Auto-Scanand Tour itself can beprogrammed over 300
functionsand Preset location. While moving, each Preset scan canbewatched insmooth
Vector Scan mode.
•8 AutoScan includingvector scan

2.3 Setting Unit for Termination
Thedevice which is connected at endof line, whether it bea dome camera or keyboard
controller, must have the cable for communication terminatedbysettingthe appropriate DIP
switch. Without proper termination, there is potential for control signal errors. Total length of the
cable for communication should not exceed 1.2Km.

2.4 Setting Address (ID) of DomeCamera
Toprevent damage, each dome camera must have a uniqueaddress(ID). Wheninstalling
multiple domecamerasusingamultiplexer, it is suggestedthat the domecamera addressmatch
the multiplexer port number.
Example: Port 1= Dome 1, Port 2= Dome2 “Port 16= Dome16. If more than 16dome
cameras are installed using two or more multiplexers, IDof thedomecamera should be ID of
MUX xNo. of camera IN. (e.g. multiplexer ID= n, CameraIN= m then ID of Dome=16x(n-1)+m )
Refer to Figures 3-4 for settingthe domecamera address (ID) and protocol selection.

2.5 Setting Protocol of DomeCamera
If a dome camera is tobe installed with a Scandome IITM keyboard controller, select F2 protocol.
Consult service personnel if a dome camerais installed with device other than akeyboard
controller.

2.6 Connecting Wiring
㿱Connecting to the RS-485/ 422
The dome cameracan be controlled remotelybyan external device or control system, suchasa
control keyboard, using RS485 half-duplex , RS422 duplex or simplex serial communications
signals. Connect Marked Rx+, Rx- to Tx+ and Tx- ofthe RS485 control system.
If control system is RS422, connect Rx+(Tx+), Rx+(Tx-) and (Rx+), (Rx-) of the dome camera to
Tx+, Tx- and (Rx+), (Rx-) of the control device respectively.
Connecting Video out connector
Connect the video out(BNC) connector tothemonitor or video input.
㿱Connecting Alarms
AL1 to 8 (Alarm In)
You can useexternal devices to signal the dome camera toreact toevents. Mechanical or
electrical switches canbe wired to the AL (Alarm In) and GND (Ground) connectors.. See
Chapter 3 …Program and Operation for configuringalarm input.

NOTE: All the connectors marked GND are common.
Connect the ground side of theAlarm input and/or alarm output to the GND connector.
NC(NO)1 TO 4 (Normal Close or Normal Open : Alarm Out)
The domecamera can activate external devices such asbuzzers or lights. Connect the device to
the NC(NO) (Alarm Out) and COM (Common) connectors. SeeChapter 3 …Program and
Operation for configuring alarm output.
㿱Connecting the Power
Connect the power of AC 24V 850mA tothe dome camera.
2.7 Getting Started
Once installed apply power to the dome camera. Thedomecamerawill start a configuration
sequence.Whenconfiguration isdone, thefollowing informationis displayed:

Chapter 3 Program and Operation
3.1 Selecting Dome Camera
Before you program or operatea dome camera, you must select the domecamera by pressing
the dome camera No. + CAM
Example:Pressing 1, 0and CAM keysequentiallywill select dome camera 10. The selected
dome camera ID will be displayed on the LCD monitor of the keyboard controller.
3.2 Accessing On-Screen Menu Utility
You can call uptheOn-screen menu utilityon your monitor bypressing MENU keyon the
keyboard controller, thefollowing On-screenmenu utility will appear:

3.4 Auto Scan (First Item of theMain menu / Shortcut: Scan)
The Autoscan supports up to8 programmed angles at user-programmable speeds. Follow
these stepstoprogram Auto Scan:
1. Press the Scan keytoenter Auto Scanmenudirectly. Or pressthe Menu keyto displaythe
main menu onthe monitor. Scroll toAutoScan and push the Joystick to the right.
2. Select an Auto Scannumber bypushing the Joystick left or right.

3. Twist the Joystick to enter thetitle by scrolling through the alphanumeric characters and
pushing thehandle tothe right or left to move tothe next space. Press Enter keyor pushthe
Joystick down to finishtitle mode
4. Pushthehandle downward to select ”SPEED’and set thespeedby movingthe Joystick left
and right to select theauto scanspeed.
5. When finishentering the speed, select ”START ANGLE’with the Joystick. Hold down the
Ctrl/PGM keywhile selecting thestart position usingthe Joystick. Current panningposition
will be displayed. Release Ctrl/PGM keytocomplete the selection of the start position.
6. Pushthe Joystick downward to select ”END ANGLE.’Hold down the Ctrl/PGM keywhile
movingthe joystickto select the endposition. Theend position angle should be larger than
start position. Releasethe Ctrl/PGM keytocomplete the selection of the end position.
7. Pushthe Joystick downward to select ”SCAN DIR’andset the scandirection by moving the
Joystick left and right toselect theautoscan direction.(CWor CCW)
8. Pushthe Joystick downward to select ”SWAP’andset the swap by movingthe Joystick left
and right toselect the swap ON or OFF.
9. Select Save and Exit bypushingthe Joystick to the right. Press ESC to exit theprogram
without saving.
Pressing the Home keycauses the camera to gotothe000.0 angle immediately.
NOTE: Using the Tour mode in conjunction with preset and Auto Scan,you can make the camera
travel from one preset position to another preset position at a specificspeed. (Pan only)
a. Beforeentering the Auto Scanmenu, select apreset positionas astarting point forAuto Scan.
Example:2+ Prst anddo step1 to 4. Instead of step 5, just pressthe Ctrl/PGM keyat thestart
angle position, thecurrent positionwill be displayed as astart position.
b. Save and exit from themenu.
c. In normalmode, call a preset to betheendpoint of scan. Press 3+ Prst thenpress Scan
keytoenter the AutoScan menu. Move the cursor positiontoEND ANGLE. Just press
Ctrl/PGM keyat theendangle position. Dostep 7 to 9.
Example:Preset 001>002>003>004>005>006, Auto Scan01 starts at 002, endsat 003,
Auto Scan02 starts at 005, endsat 006. Tour 001, 002, A01, 004, A02.

3.5 Preset (SecondItem of the Main menu / Shortcut: Prst)

If you need toviewspecificplaces routinely, you should program presets. A preset is a
programmedvideo scene with automatic pan, tilt, zoom, focusand iris settings. Once
programmed, entering the number andpressing apreset buttononyour controller automatically
calls up thepreset. In addition, presetsmaybe assigned toalarm actions or asthe ”home’
position for the dome camera. Asmanyas240 presets, whose positionsare saved in the
dome█s firmware, maybe programmed.
There are threepagesof preset menu, eachpagecan hold80 presets. Pagescan be scrolled
bypushingthe Joystick to the Left or Right onthe first or last No. of Preset.

Followsteps below to store the Preset positions:
1. Press Menu to display themain menu. Select the Preset option byusing the Joystick to the
right. (Press Prst togodirectlytothePreset menuwithout going throughthe main menu.)
2. Select theblankpreset positiontobe stored bypushing the Joystick up, down, right, or left.
3. Theposition, which is markedwith , alreadyhas thepreset viewassigned. Toreviewthe
storedpreset, press Prst keyon the 竡 The camera will showthe storedpreset view.
4. After selecting a blank position, press andhold Ctrl/PGM, usethe Joystick to controlthe
direction of the camera and lens.
5. After aiming thecamera (viewdirection and lens control), release Ctrl/PGM. Thentwist the
Joystick handle or Press Tele or Wide Key tostore the selected view. The position number will
be displayed and theuser will be prompted to enter apreset title.

6. Enter thetitle for the preset position using the Joystick. (Rotate handle clockwise and
counterclockwise or press Tele or Wide Key toscroll throughthe alphanumeric characters,
push thehandle to right or left to select next or previous digit.)
7. When you arefinishedentering thetitle, push the Joystick downward. Set thefocus by
pushingthe Joystick to the right or left. Set the IRIS value in the samemanner asthefocus.
8. Move to theDWELL settingbypushingthe Joystick down. Twist the Joystick clockwise or
counterclockwise toincrease or decrease dwell time of the preset position.
9. Toselect thenext page of presets, scroll thepagebypushing the Joystick totheLeft onthe
first and last columnsof the menu.
10. Repeat steps 2 through7 for each additional preset position.
11. Toedit the title of astoredpreset, usethe Joystick toposition the cursor onthedesired
preset position. Press the Prst keytorecall thestored preset. Twist the zoom handle
clockwise to enter the preset title, focus andIRIS. Preset titles are useful with short cut preset
programming. Refer toShortcut programming below.
12. Select Save and Exit bypushing thejoystick to theright. PressESC toexit the Preset menu
without saving.
NOTE: Pressthe Home keyat programmed position to delete a programmedpreset view.
3.6 Shortcut of Preset Program.
Select a viewto be stored (direction of the camera, zoom and focus), thenpressNo. (1to 240),
and thenpress Pgm, Prst subsequently. The current viewwill be stored to theselectedpreset
number ifposition is empty. If selected preset number is not empty, ”PRESET EXISTING’
messagewill be displayed on the monitor andask tooverwrite.
Example: 1 , 0 , 1 + Pgm + Prst will store current viewas preset No. 101. In this case, focus
and Iris mode will be programmed as Auto, dwell time will be set to 3 sec.
3.7 Tour (THIRD ITEM OF THE MAIN MENU / SHORTCUT: Tour)
There are 8programmable Tours. EachTour consists of upto42 Preset positions, Patterns,
Scans or other Tours(second-level). Using second-level Tours, it canbe expanded to over 300
functionsin a single Tour. However Tours in second level Tour will be ignored when called bya
Tours. The followingexample illustrates this concept:
