Huawei Watch 2 Installation guide

Is my HUAWEI WATCH 2 compatible with an iPhone or
other iOS device?
Yes. Your HUAWEI WATCH 2 can be used with iOS devices (iOS 9.0 or later).
You can download the iOS version of the Wear OS by Google app from the
App Store and pair your watch with the device. However, not all of the
watch's functions will be available on iOS.
On a HUAWEI WATCH 2 paired with an iOS device, you can track your
workout data and sync it to the phone, change watch faces, and access
HiVoice assistant. You can also download standalone third-party apps from
the Google Play Store on the watch. On the 4G edition, you can make calls
without the need for the phone nearby.
However, certain functions are not supported. For example, mobile
payments are not supported, and the watch cannot be used to answer calls
made to your phone.
Is there anything I should bear in mind when pairing my
HUAWEI WATCH 2 with my phone?
Your HUAWEI WATCH 2 is paired with your phone through the Wear OS by
Google app. The pairing process could take some time. Please follow the
onscreen instructions and wait patiently.
Keep the Wear OS by Google app running in the foreground and avoid
performing any other operations on your phone when pairing your watch
through the Wear OS by Google app. When the message Touch "Done" on
your phone appears on the watch, touch Done on the phone to complete
the pairing process.
If pairing is taking too long, or the message Getting watch details stays on
the screen, try the following steps to see if the issue is resolved:
1. Reset the watch to factory settings. If pairing fails or the message Getting
watch details stays on the screen for too long, touch and hold the power
button on the watch (the button on the top right side of the watch) then go
to Settings > System > and touch Disconnect & reset to restore the watch
to factory settings.
2. If the watch has previously been paired with a phone, reset the watch to
factory settings and then pair with the new phone. If you are using an
iPhone, you need to unpair the watch from the phone before performing a
factory reset. Go to Settings > Bluetooth on your phone, then touch the info
icon next to the watch's Bluetooth name and touch Forget this Device. After
this, turn Bluetooth off and then on again on the phone, exit and restart the
Wear OS by Google app, and then re-pair the watch with the phone.
What can I do if my watch's battery drains
quickly and has a short standby time?
1. Check whether you are using the Bluetooth version or the 4G version.
You can generally expect to get around 1.5 days of full usage (including in
Watch mode) from the 4G version, and approx 2 days of usage from the
Bluetooth version. In addition to battery capacity, the usage time of your
watch depends on your usage scenario, frequency, and the network
conditions. Using the watch to workout (GPS), listen to music, or make calls
will have a significant impact on battery life.
2. For the Bluetooth version (or 4G version without a SIM card inserted): If
the standby time is less than one and a half days, perform the following
steps to check for the cause.
(1) Check whether the rapid power consumption is caused by a third-party
app.
In the Wear OS by Google app, enter the Advanced Settings menu and
then touch Watch battery to check detailed battery statistics.
If there are other third-party apps consuming a lot of power in the
background, but you never or rarely use them, it is recommended that you
uninstall these apps.
Check whether Package Installer or Android System is at the top of the Wear
OS by Google app power consumption list. If so, it could be that the rapid
power consumption is caused by a rare software issue. Please restart the
watch to fix the issue. Please also update your watch's software at the next
available version release, as this will also fix such issues.
(2) Check whether the watch has undergone heavy use. The watch's standby
time will be reduced in respect to how much it is used. The following
situations may result in reduced battery life:
Prolonged use of the watch to play music or make calls.
Prolonged use of an exercise or map navigation app.
Prolonged use of power-intensive third-party apps, such as Google Fit or
Runtastic.
Frequent message notifications.
3. For the 4G version (with a SIM card inserted): If the standby time is less
than 1 day, in addition to the above, please also check the following:
(1) Check whether the watch is disconnected from the phone. If Bluetooth is
disabled on the phone or watch, using the watch's independent connectivity
functions will result in higher power consumption than usual.
If you want to use the watch's independent calling function, go
to Settings > Connectivity > Cellular and set Cellular to ON. This way you can
make calls using the watch and still receive messages and access network
connections over Bluetooth. This conserves more battery power than directly
disconnecting the Bluetooth connection between the watch and phone.
If you don't want to have messages pushed to your watch, go to the Wear OS
by Google app, enter the Notifications menu, then select the apps you no
longer want to receive messages from under Block app notifications.
(2) Mobile network power consumption is affected by mobile network signal
strength. If the network signal is poor, power will be consumed at a faster
rate. If the mobile network is set to ON (the default selection is Automatic),
power consumption will be greater.
If you don't want to use the independent calling function on the watch, you
can disable it by going to Settings > Connectivity > Cellular and
setting Cellular to Automatic.
4. After performing the preceding actions, restart the watch to see whether
power consumption has improved.
How do I improve the usage time of my watch?
1. It is recommended that you uninstall or refrain from using certain power-
intensive third-party apps.
In the Wear OS by Google app, enter the Advanced Settings menu and
then touch Watch battery to check detailed battery statistics.
Under Settings > APPs, choose the power-intensive third-party apps, and
then click Uninstall or Disable.
2. Use the watch's Smart power saving mode.
Press the watch's upper right key (power key) to access the app list, touch
and open the Battery app, then select Smart power saving mode.
3. Block notification messages.
After the watch receives a notification message, press and hold the screen
and select Block all notifications to block all further notification messages
from this app. Alternatively, go to the Wear OS by Google app, enter
the Notifications menu, then select the apps you no longer want to receive
messages from under Block app notifications.4. Use the watch's Airplane
mode.
If you find yourself not needing a network connection (for example, when
you are on a plane, asleep, or exercising for extended periods), switch the
watch to Airplane mode. To enable Airplane mode, pull down the shortcut
menu and touch the airplane icon.
5. Disable the Always-on screen setting.
Go to Settings > Display, and disable Always-on screen.
6. Disable the Tilt-to-wake setting.
Go to Settings > Gestures, and disable Tilt-to-wake.
7. Enable Watch mode.
Press the power button and then enable Watch mode in the Battery app.
8. If Cellular on the 4G version of the watch is set to ON (the default value is
Automatic), power consumption increases. It is recommended that this
setting be set to Automatic. Set the Cellular to Automatic by going
to Settings > Connectivity > Cellular.
Third-party apps can enhance the functionality of the watch, but some third-
party apps also increase power consumption. Take care when downloading
and installing third-party apps.
When Smart power saving mode is enabled, the watch will disable the
Always-on screen function, the mobile network will switch to automatic
mode, and the screen brightness will be lowered.
Your watch will not receive notifications from apps whose notifications are
blocked.
In Airplane mode, Bluetooth and network connection are disconnected. You
will not be able to make or receive calls, send or receive messages, or use any
online functions.
Watch mode keeps only the basic Clock and Pedometer functions,
prolonging the watch's standby time.
Why can't I receive push messages on my watch
when it is connected to an Android phone?
If you cannot receive notifications when your watch is paired with an
Android phone, try the following solutions:
1. Check whether the notifications and SMS messages are displayed in the
status bar on your phone. Only messages displayed in the status bar can be
pushed to your watch.
2. Check the Bluetooth connection between your watch and phone. To do
this, go to the Wear OS by Google app on your phone and check the
connection status in the upper left corner of the screen. If the Bluetooth
connection has been interrupted, you will not receive notifications on the
watch.
3. Make sure that all tutorial cards have been deleted from the watch.
4. Check whether your watch is in Theater mode or Airplane mode. In these
two modes, your watch will not receive incoming call notifications, message
notifications, or notification cards.
5. Check that the Wear OS by Google app is running in the background. Add
the Wear OS by Google app to the list of protected apps on the phone to
make sure that it continues to run in the background when the phone's
screen goes off.
6. Check whether notification permissions and SMS messages have been
disabled on your phone.
(1) On your phone, go to Settings > Apps > Wear OS by Google >
Notifications and enable Allow notifications.
(2) On your phone, go to Settings > Apps > Wear OS by
Google > Permissions and give Wear OS by Google access permissions to
all apps.
7. Restart your phone and watch after enabling the permissions in the
previous step.
8. In the Wear OS by Google app, go to Settings > Block app
notifications to see if notifications from any Apps or SMS messages have
been blocked.
9. Check that the time is calibrated properly on the watch. If the time on
your phone is later than that on your watch, notifications will not be pushed
to your watch. You can manually synchronize the time on your watch from
the phone to avoid this issue. On the watch, go
to Settings > System > Date & time > Automatic date & time, and
select Sync from phone.
10. If the issue is still not solved, uninstall the Wear OS by Google app from
the phone and reinstall it from app market and grant the app all
permissions. Restore your watch to factory settings and re-pair it with your
phone. During the pairing process, make sure that you grant all notification
permissions. If the issue persists, repeat steps 1–8.
Why doesn't my watch vibrate or ring when I
receive an incoming call notification?
Check that the watch is attached firmly to your wrist. If the watch detects
that it is not being worn, it will not ring or vibrate when there is an incoming
call. If your watch does not vibrate when it is being worn, check the
following settings:
1. The watch vibrates by default for incoming calls. If you want the watch to
ring, go to Settings > Sound & notifications > Ring volume and set the
ringtone volume.
2. Check that the watch is firmly attached to your wrist. If the watch is not
being worn, it will not vibrate when there is an incoming call.
3. Check in Settings whether the watch has been set to Mute or Do not
disturb.
4. Check whether Do not disturb or Power saving mode has been enabled on
the watch.
(1) Check whether the icon is displayed on the watch face. If so, pull
down the menu screen and turn off Do not disturb.
(2) Swipe up on the watch's home screen. If you see a card notifying you
that Power saving mode has been activated, touch to disable this mode.
5. Go to Settings > Sound & notifications and enable Also vibrate for calls.
Is my watch waterproof/dustproof? Can I wear it while
swimming or diving?
Your watch has an IP68 water and dust resistance rating, which means you
can wear your watch when you are washing your hands or in the rain. Do
not wear it when washing cars, swimming, diving, scuba diving, or
showering.
The waterproofing of the watch is designed to prevent water from entering
the interior of the watch and damaging the internal components and main
board.
How do I use Android Pay on my watch?

What can I do if I am unable to make calls on my watch?
If you can't make calls on your watch, check the following:
1. Check whether Bluetooth is enabled on your watch. On the watch, go
to Settings > Connectivity > Bluetooth, and enable Play phone audio on
watch. Also, check whether the Bluetooth audio connection between your
phone and watch is normal.
2. If your phone is connected to multiple devices that support calling, go
to Settings > Bluetooth on your phone, select your watch from the list of
available devices, and enable Phone audio.
3. For the Bluetooth version of the watch, calls can't be made directly from the
watch when the watch is connected to your phone over Wi-Fi.
4. For the 4G version (SIM and eSIM), the watch's SIM card communication
function is automatically disabled to save power when your phone and
watch are connected over Bluetooth.
To enable the SIM card communication function, go
to Settings > Connectivity > Cellular on your watch and
set Cellular to Automatic or ON (setting Cellular to ON will shorten the
watch's battery life).
5. For the 4G version (SIM and eSIM), cellular data will be automatically
disabled when the watch's battery level drops below 15%.
6. For the 4G version (SIM and eSIM), go to Settings > Connectivity, and check
whether you have the SIM Unlock option. If so, enable it to unlock the SIM
card.
7. Ensure your SIM card has credit.
8. If the problem persists, try restarting your watch.
What should I do if the positioning function on
my watch is slow or inaccurate?
The accuracy of positioning is affected by environmental factors.
Positioning will be affected if:
1. There is no GPS signal (such as in indoor environments like shopping malls).
2. You are in a high-rise building.
3. There is signal reflection from bodies of water (such as lakes and oceans).
4. There is signal reflection.
5. There is interference from metal surfaces.
If possible, exercise in open environments for more accurate positioning
results.
